I dont get it! As far as Asian food in Lansing goes - this place is mediocre at best, but people seem to like it. This place was recommended by two people over the years and we never went there. I think the location and exterior was always a turn off for me. But, based on recommendations, we went there once - and wont again. Dont get me wrong. It wasnt terrible, but it wasnt good either. Everything we ate was quite forgettable. The only thing that stays with me is the interior. I was a drab as the outside.

We placed an order to go when the restaurant had only one other customer in it. The price of the food is quite high compared to other chinese restaurants and the place itself is a dump. The soup, steamed dumplings, and mushroom chicken that we ordered were not ready for at least 25 minutes. Once we got home we tried our food and everything was flavorless and very greasy. I think it all might have been cooked in the same pan. The mushrooms and dumplings were dripping with oil. We will not be going back anytime soon.

The best Hot & Sour Soup this side of China! This place looks like a dive, but the food and people are outstanding. The former publication titled "The Interstate Gourmet" Mid-west edition, only listed two Lansing restaurants: Huapei was one of them. If you like things a little sweet as well as a little spicy, try the Szechuan Beef, Huapei Chicken, and of course, ALWAYS order the hot & sour soup. Youll be glad you checked this place out!

Do yourself a favor and try this place out. Youll have to get past the run down building, but dont let it fool you. This is where the Korean MSU students like to go because it is the best Korean style Chinese food in the area. The hot and sour soup is one of my favorites, and superior to places like P.F. Changs where it has somewhat of a chemical taste to it. The staff is very friendly as well.

Horrid. I wish I could have posted no stars (or even more so, negative stars) no stars for this restaurant but the website wouldnt let me submit it w/o at least 1 star. Do yourself a favor and get some frozen P.F. Chang food instead. My husband said it was "the worst food he has ever eaten" (of any kind). He compared it to prison cafeteria food in hell.

I dined here with a business colleague. I was a bit surprised how small the dining area was when we walked in and the decor was kind of dated (and I was a little worried that there was only one other table occupied). We were promptly greeted and seated though. We started out with the stuffed mushroom cap appetizer.

I was a fan of this place about 5 years ago. Having recently moved back to Lansing, decided to eat at Huapei last week. The place has really gone downhill, and received the worst case of food poisoning Ive had in years. I really wanted to like this place again, but as of now it has no redeeming qualities at all.

This was our first time to Troppos. It was 630 on a Monday. The waiter was attentive, the food was very good. We were surprised as to how quickly the food came to our table for an upscale restaurant. You have to try their version of strawberry shortcake....wow!

My wife (Linda Lynch), and I have been going to Huapei for many years and absolutely love the food. We moved from Lansing 20 years ago and now drive 50 miles, round trip to enjoy the delicious food. We would drive twice that if we had to! John Lynch

Visited during their grand re-opening. It took almost 3 hours from the time we walked in to the time we left to get through the meal. It was not particularly busy, but they were way under staffed. The food was fine! Might try again? Im not sure.

They have the best food in all of Lansing for Asian cuisine its made fresh with non of that fake crap you get in the rest of the restaurants I recommend them to everyone they every have good service and are very friendly LOVE IT there!

Me and my wife have eaten here many times and have only once had our food not be amazing. This place looks like a sketchy dive but you will find great food and wonderful people inside. Cheap, too. The crab Rangoon are amazing.

I have lived in 6 different cities and I have yet to find a Chinese restaurant with better food. Dont let the exterior fool you. They put all their heart and soul into the food, and it shows. Best Szechuan Ive ever had.

The best fried rice I have ever had. Can not stop thinking about it and plan to go back soon. Dingy interior, but tabels and dishes were clean, which is all that matters to me. Excellent service.

cozy and quiet place. I love the Chinese decoration there. They have Chinese menu and we tried spicy pepper beef. Very delicious. Steamed dumplings are also very good. will go there again.
