I arrived in Kalamazoo July 13, 2008. I ate here every day except for Sundays and a few days when my walk had me closer to Grand Haven (on the Kal-Haven trail). I discovered that the staff is not outgoing, but they are friendly when I would initiate a friendly greeting or conversation. I met my need for nutrition because of the variety of fruit, salad and vegetables. The value with a senior card and between 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. was excellent. I eat little or no meat and could avoid the starch foods without a problem. I found EXCELLENT watermelon everyday. Most days had cantaloupe of mush melon. Mandarin oranges and prunes were available most of the days. Vegetable were about the same each day: Cooked carrots, green beans and corn. About once a week I found sweet potato (usually under cookeed but not always). Likewise for broccoli although a manager said they had it daily, I seldom found it. I found sauerkraut about three times in the 6 weeks, likewise for cooked spinach, or kale, or turnip greens. I found spring mix for my salad every day, and spinach on all but three days. Caution: the vinegar and oil bottles dont work so well. They look safe and secure but leak out the top and easily can drip on trousers or the salad bar. Dont bother to report, "Manager only buy cheap tops," is the reply and the managers only look (then they work for the rest of that day). The non-smoking atmosphere, friendly staff, great fruits, good veggis, and great salad make this a Good Value.

Never ate here, gave it 3 stars just to comment, we had 3 OCBs in Grand Rapids, was great eating, they kept cheapening the menu, Alpine, closed, East Brooke, these closed years, ago. We went to Rogers Plaza, for some time early 2000, they went down hill, menu, kept getting worse more other buffets opened, it was not worth money, sad. We went to Firemountain, it was good didnt last long. Golden Corral built one block away. Well same as OCB, again they cheapened menu, people started checking out GC, guess what they kept cheapening, menu. We had to leave moved to Golden Corral. After few years theyre turning to crap aldo. I see its poor management, killing themselves. Retired we enjoyed buffets, after years of not afording to eat out. My blog lol

Been eating here for quite some time, and it appears the place is going down hill. Some improvements need to be made. Number one is the bathrooms. We feel real reluctant to use them because of the mess and lack of maintenance. Number two is the dining room seats, as a lot of them have tears in them and it is not comfortable sitting on open rips. Third is the food selection. Why did you stop having fried chickin breast? Now all we can find is fried wings and theighs, which we dont like. We live 30 miles from the buffet and usually eat there everytime we are in Kalamazoo. We have been very pleased in the passed, but not lately. However, The waitresses have been very friendly, especially Helga, and we enjoy chatting with her during our dinner.

We go there for the senior buffet. The salad bar is very good, the fried chicken good. Have gone for the evening dinner and they dont do steaks anymore. The manager said because of the price of beef, but that didnt lower the meal price that seems to be creeping up each time you visit. Another place they loose money is the cheap napkins, they are so thin that you use three times as many during a meal. The price of the beverage is outrageous since I only drink one glass of ice tea. Management has cut down on the help that I see and these girls are working at doing three or four jobs and running their tails off, but they keep smiling and doing their jobs.

The food was ok, but the atmosphere of the resturaunt was very off putting. Ripped seats in the booths, dusty light fixtures and wall art, stained and broken ceiling tiles. Very unappealing for a place that serves food. The bathroom was horrific, again with broken and missing ceiling tiles, dimly lit and filthy. I was honestly disgusted after being in there and we immediately left, barely eating any food because the poor conditions of the restaurant made us lose our appetites. If the front of house looks like that, I can only imagine what back of house looks like. This whole place needs a good scrub down.

I have been here twice once when it was an average day, this was a brilliant experience great food and great staff. I went back and it was very busy, staff at cash registers were stressed and were bickering at their managers saying they would walk out. I then picked up 4 forks all of them.still had food on them, and when i tell the waitress she proceeds to tell me "thats why i dont eat at buffets" and then tells me for next time to wash my forks in a cup of water before using it. There own waitress advises i wash my fork prior to using it. Avoid when busy otherwise a great place.

I like the concept of your buffet, but it falls short when compared to Golden Corral. Your choices are limited and usually the same. The attendant is generally not in the area when you want some meat cut. Every thing tastes the same. For the price, I expect a lot more. The salad bar really doesnt have anything special and the desserts are generally dried out or are odd items that most people dont eat. My biggest complaint are the ice machines cant keep pace with the demand, ice always runs out.

The only thing the staff was serving was attitude. I guess thats partially understandable because I would hate working there too. Honestly, if I could rate this place less I would. If youre going to overcharge for a meal, at least have the decency to try to clean the plates and silverware. Im not even going to complain about the bathroom because Im more concerned that somebody died in there. Overall, I would not recommend this place even to my enemies.

If u wanna go to a place that has terrible food and terrible service. I took my father here for his birthday and its needless to say I let him down. When I went there there was one food I could eat that was chicken. Every other food was either cold undercooked or overcooked I definetly dont recommend going there in this area there are plenty of better restaurants in that area I advise you to go to one of those for your sake

I couldnt give it a an negative star or half of a star but where do I start. We had a table of 25 people and we saw our waitress probably twice. The bar was empty, and I mean empty so a lot of us started off with salads to wait for them to stock the bar, but that never happen. We dranked out of coffee cups because there was no glasses, the silverware was limited to only steak knives. I never was so frustrated.

Food is over cooked. Bathroom stinks bad like someone pissed all over everything. There using the mop from somewhere that has grease all over it. When you go in to bathroom you slide in there. So to cover there but they put a caution cone in there. They took the steak off the menu roast beef is way over cooked so its dry and hard to swallow. Wouldnt recommend anyone to this place have seen better places.
