If you have way too much money and not much taste, this is the place for you. This was a restaurant that had a pub menu that had culinary flair. You could come and have your favorite beer paired with excellent and well-executed dishes. However, theyve changed the menu and apparently fired the chef. The menu now contains generic pub food with none of the dishes that made Derby special. The dishes contain no spice and no ethnicity. They Must have hired chefs from Dennys because the food now tastes like an ambitious Dennys chef made it. Fish tacos have no spice and contain the Burger king mayonnaise sause with greasy, flavorless chips and bland salsa. Bagley Hash was an Asian vegetable dish made by defrosting soggy frozen assorted veggies in the microwave with cheese and soy sauce on top. The staff looks different too. They look like high school kids and have no skill or charm. This was our review of Derby Station a couple of years ago: "Our favorite Grand Rapids Restaurant/ Bar. Great food, great beer, an enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff and a fun and relaxing environment." Used to eat here weekly. Severely dissapointed. We wont ever be back.

I came here for my 21st birthday just for a nice dinner with my wife. I ordered one of their specials which was a chicken parmesan sandwich. The first sandwich was raw in the middel, which I found out after consuming my first bite. We talked to the manager and he brought me a new one. We didnt have to pay for my food but the second sandwich was ill prepared also. The chicken hadnt been tenderized, or cut in any way, so I was taking a bight out of a 1.5 inch thick chicken breast. When I bit into it I could feel the connective tissue get caught in between my teeth and the meat tugged apart as if it was still raw. I understand I didnt have to pay for my sandwich but it seemed like the kitchen was trying to punish me for causing a problem. The appetizer was good and my wife enjoyed her food but shes pregnant so she was feeling more sick by my experience than I was. We payed for our appetizer and her food and left. The restaurant is probably great but my experience ruined my birthday dinner and has made my stomach upset for the past 7 hours.

Last night the host made a big disrespectful scene after our group of 4 asked if we should seat ourselves (seat yourself sign was up). The host said yes, but as we agreed to sit outside, the host began whistling, snapping his fingers and flat out treating us like a dog saying he will go out and find us a table unless we want to eat from a table with dirty plates and messes. Ive never met anyone in public as akward and low as this host. We followed and most tables were empty and clean! After we sat and ordered dinner we eventually got our $30 steaks and the server openly admitted before anyone took a bite she thought all people like their steaks medium and had the kitchen cook them all this way despite our interests. We didnt want to cause a scene so we just ate it even though nobody wanted it medium, however it was actually very very well done. We were a group of 4 on a double date being kind to everyone at this restaurant but it is really awful that an establishment exists like this.

I apologize; I should have trusted the previous reviewers more. Our server greeted us with the fact that he was very busy because another server had called in sick. He then left us much more time than necessary to formulate our orders. When my mother ordered the Stuffed Chicken Breast he informed us that would mean a 20 min. prep time. Well, 30 min later we were finally served. My grilled chicken breast burger was tasteless and was served by itself with no sides. My mothers Stuffed Chicken Breast was so hard she couldnt cut it with her knife and I had to cut it for her. The ends of the breast were so hard they were inedible. The rest of the chicken was very dry from being over cooked. My husbands Fish & Chips were unremarkable as was my Dads meat pie. What a waste of prime real estate in East Grand Rapids! To top it off we had a coupon from our Entertainment book, but our server informed us that the coupon had been a misprint and management was not accepting them. Well not be back.

Nice location, but thats about it. Terrible service this past weekend. From the moment we walked in, the hostess was being yelled at by another customer for accidentally skipping their name on the waiting list (which was 40 minutes that night). We should have walked out then, but didnt. Instead we ordered a beverage and waited at the bar where we had to ASK for a menu. They never returned to take our appetizer order. After flagging them down, they finally took it. When the food arrived our table was finally "ready" outside. They did not give us any napkins or silverware; had to ask for those too, never asked if we wanted a refill and never asked how our food was (which was only mediocre for the price). After we realized we were not going to get service (perhaps being understaffed is an issue here), we left in a hurry. I accidentally left my credit card on the table and when we called to ask if it was found, it took 3 days to return my call. Will not be returning.

Went here this past Saturday night with my wife for our 1st anniversary and were treated like second rate customers. Food was OK but if Im going to pay 15 bucks for a burger with soggy cold fries, no silverware on the table, wrong toppings on my wifes burger, and no ketchup until the waiter came by five minutes after our food came since he wasnt the one that brought out our food, Ill go somewhere else. No apology from him though and I couldnt figure out any reason for such awful service. They werent even close to being busy, dinning room wasnt even half full and now I can see why. 15 minutes for a jack and coke. 25 minutes waiting after out bill after our table was cleared just sitting there. This is a big city with tons of restaurants with better food, better prices and much much better service. We were both very disappointed and will not be returning of recommending this place to anyone. I wish I had checked reviews before picking this place.

Lost a couple stars in my book because of two things: a condescending bartender and the fact that they charge you $2-$3 for a taste/sample of a beer. Ive never been to a bar before that doesnt let you take a tiny swig of something they have on tap to help you decide. The condescending bartender made some quick remark about how Michigan law prohibits them from giving out free alcohol. So its either that every other bar/pub is breaking the law, or its a sneaky way to nickel and dime customers. That being said, Ive been here a number of times before and had good service and good food. I must have caught this place on the wrong day. Oh, also, the bar closes at 10pm, at least on Monday(s), when I was there. That surprised me.

Just love this place. I love the feeling of the old fashioned British pub with the dark wood and the comfy high back chairs. It always feels like home and the the waitstaff contributes to that feeling. They always have a wonderful variety of foods that feature fresh and local ingredients and they let you know if they are gluten-free vegan vegetarian Etc for those with those needs. This is the second time Ive had their cauliflower Burger ... I am not a vegetarian... and I am not missing any meat! It is fabulous with a nice crusty outside that looks like a a char-grilled burger and very sweet and tasty inside. They always have daily specials on food and beer and wine which is also a plus.
