This place looks nice inside as it recently opened and is newly remodeled, but upon entering it feels cold, uninviting and unfriendly. Bad vibes. The first time I visited was the last. I apparently entered through the back door and a man sitting by the door dressed in a black suit started yelling "You have to pay to come in here!" I explained that it was my first time there and I wasnt sure which door to enter. Without apology, he promptly escorted me to the front where two huge goons dressed in black Tshirts and jeans started yelling how they had to check my purse I told them they should decide who would make the request because it was intimidating for two 300-pound plus guys to be yelling at a newcomer about her purse and grabbing for it simultaneously. They wanted a $10 cover although my name was supposed to be on the guest list. They said they had no guest list. It went from bad to worse. Service was bad. Drinks were worse, overpriced and watery. Music was mediocre. They had some woman singing who could barely carry a tune. Ugh!! It was painful! I tried to talk to the owner, a prison guard, (no kidding) about how bad my experience was, and he also was unfriendly. He gave me a diatribe about his problems with running the place. I was there to see a friend play, and they had no food because of a previous health department issue. So I had to leave to get food. Ill never go back there. My friend, a well-known blues artist, refuses to play or visit there again because of the conditions. I have since heard from other blues lovers that they witnessed a fight there with women rolling around on the floor. They also will never return. Its just awful! Save your time and money and go elsewhere. This is not a place for decent human beings.

This was my first time going to THE DETROIT BLUES CAFE. I am from ALABAMA I dont know anyone in Detroit. I was looking for a place to sit back and listen to good OLD FASHION music. That remind me of home.The people at the door was very nice. The waitress was excellent. Got your drinks at a reasonable time. The waitress never had a bad attitude. They smile and answer any questions. Made me feel welcome. This is a place I would love to come back to.

One of the managers Tina was very professional and nice when I was reserving my spot for my birthday. There was security every where inside and security outside monitoring the parking lot. I was there on a Saturday it was a younger and older crowd.. The food was on point I wanted to kiss the cook..Lol The music was before my time I didnt know half of the stuff that was being played but I was able to chill to it.. I will definitely come again..

Had an awesome time at the Sunday night affair! Great crowd, greet food, DJ was amazing, kept the old school coming. The waitress Sabrina was top notch, the security staff made sure we were safe and the owner made sure we had a great time. Thank you Detroit Blues Cafe for making my cousins 50th birthday a success. You have a loyal customer and I will be back!!!

I went there for the first time last weekend and I had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was grown and sexy, tight security, and the food was good!!! I was so impressed that I booked my birthday party there in July!!! If youre looking for an atmosphere with an older and mature crowd, this is the place to be. I highly recommend this establishment!!!!❤

Although Detroit is home for me, I moves away a couple yrs ago...Had the opportunity to visit this establishment on Friday June 2,2017 while visiting, we decided to celebrate our Anniversary there... absolutely love it . The staff was professional, the live band rocked and the drinks was top shelf..we will be back

By far the worse customer service ever! I had To ask 4 waitresses for a menu and ended up goin to the kitchen to get my food. Then it took an hour to get so I asked her to put in a to go box and of course she didnt! I definitely wouldnt recommend this spot to anyone!! If I could give 0 stars I would

First they charge $10 entry fee, secondly the place is small for the amount of tables and people in it. Third they charge you an $5 reentry fee. The music is good though.
