We went here this weekend before the Tigers game. We had a reservation for a larger group that was coming across state to meet up. We were not all able to make it on time, but they kept our reservation as long as possible and still gave us a table for everyone that was there. They allowed us to add chairs as more people showed up. Being new costumers, we asked for suggestions about the beer since there was not a menu describing them. A few of us were misled, mostly because of a short, uninterested/unknowing response from our server. I started with the Double Play IPA, which my server told me was your best IPA. I wasnt that impressed. I dont see it on your site to verify it was even an IPA as I wasnt sure it was an IPA. I then sampled the Local 1529 IPA which was pretty good. The food was amazing. I didnt talk to anyone that thought otherwise. Here is my issue: the server. I will start by saying we were not the easiest group: 14 people showing up at different times. We started with 8 people and grew to 14 people. However, our server took a long time to come and check on our drinks; see if anyone needed anything else. Some drinks were not to our liking, as described before. Then it came to bill time; he gave the original group of 8 one bill and the joiners their own individual tabs. When we offered to number the bill 1-5 to cover the groups and put the cards in matching order, he said to figure it out yourself and walked away. This was a very big turn off to me and my group. Were unsure if his biggest motive was to receive his automatic tip of 18% because of the large group or because of his mere laziness in asking his guests and figuring out the bill. Either way, his uninterest in pleasing his customers stuck with this group. I will probably not be coming back here even though the location to the ballpark is amazing. The server really turned us off to this place.

If youre a beer enthusiast without kids, this place is great. If youre a beer enthusiast with children, this place is not for you. Long story short my wife and our 2 yr old twins stopped by for lunch and seated outside. After I went inside to request high chairs, I was greeted by and African American man with short dreadlocked hair. Although polite at first, he responded with an answer that was clearly inconveniencing him by saying "I can check but doubt it". So I took my seat outside and waited for our server to bring out the high chairs and take our drink order. The same man who made the earlier remark made another one when he had to walk around my wife while she was picking up my son. "I hate these @$?/#% kids". That was enough for me to leave. Funny thing is we were out of town visiting close friends that used to live in Detroit who were once Mug club members to this establishment. That is the only reason we decided to go to DBC. Never again will I go back to this place, no matter how hungry or thirsty I am. The rest of the staff seemed nice but all it takes is one person to make a bad (or good) impression on a business. So stay away if you have kids or dont like when certain servers mumble under their breath.

Was looking for a spot to host a get together for my hubbys birthday there were 20 of us! He wanted to hang out downtown. A friend of mine told me that this place had good beer and food was pretty good! Well I was pleased with our server she did great the manager was a total unprofessional you know what! We get there with a cake being I told them it was his birthday and she immediately approaches me with an attitude to say we have to charge You .50 a person to bring your cake in here??? This is the craziest thing because they dont offer cake on the website or the menu inside! So when I tell her that she says well we Do have cake! Then they take our orders as if they are organized then they bring all the orders out in any random order and 80% are wrong, mixed up, and had to be sent back! I guess we should have went for a place that was known for their food this place was definitely not! Im a business owner and when the manager of an establishment has an attitude with my PAYING CUSTOMERS ITS TIME FOR HER TO GO! Never should be tolerated!!!!

Detroit Beer Co. offers the perfect space for big events! I recently got married at the Masonic Temple and we decided to host our rehearsal dinner at Detroit Beer Co. There were a ton of potential venues in the area, but the private event space at Detroit Beer Co. ultimately won us over. The event manager, Kaitlyn, worked with my mother in-law to coordinate the event, and was responsive and accommodating. Upon request, she gave us early access to the space so that we could set-up everything prior to the event. The event itself went off without a hitch. The space was cozy and intimate, but still had a cool lofty vibe. The table setup encouraged mingling and allowed my husband and I to socialize with all of our guests. The staff was friendly, attentive and fun to work with. If you’re hosting an event, I strongly recommend the loft space at Detroit Beer Co!

We had our wedding on the third floor & we loved our experience from beginning to end. Josh, the general manager, was very easy to work with. He always addressed my questions & concerns with enthusiasm, never making me feel like I was bothering him. If there was ever an issue, he immediately worked on it & always rectified the situation. All of the bartenders & wait staff were amazing with our guests & were always available to help with anything. We have received so many compliments on our wedding, from the location & space to the food & service. If youre getting married, get married there. I promise you wont regret it & your guests will love it! We are forever grateful to DBC & plan on coming back every year on our anniversary.

Usually when they bring out some strong "seasonal" beer - like the Imperial Stout and IPAs - its pretty good. Ive sat at the bar here and watched a Tigers game, and dined on the 2nd level. Service has been great in both situations. Last time I was at the bar, a pizza order from a customer upstairs hadnt quite been cooked to order, so they brought it back downstairs and gave all of us a couple free slices. I thought that was classy and smart (from a marketing standpoint), when many restaurants would have just heaved it into a trashcan. The pizza was good, and next time my friends and I are in the mood for pizza and beer downtown, this is certainly a place Ill recommend.

The service has gone down hill during the last few times I have been there. It started with a visit in October, where my waiter was extremely rude. We came after my girlfriend graduated from WSU and she said "I just graduated!" and his only response was "Who here hasnt?" The services was bad throughout the night but hey, sometimes people are in a bad mood. Went a few days ago and the waitress was very distant and seemed to not really care that we were there. I dont ask the world but a smile wouldnt hurt every now and then. I dont know if management treats their employees badly or what, but read a book on hospitality. It will go a long way.
