I was seated outside on the patio with my dog, who was sleeping under my seat, after having received tons of attention from both customers and multiple wait staff. We had already been served food and drinks, when our waitress (who was great!!) came out to tell me her manager had told her that I could not have a dog on the patio unless it was a service dog. I was a bit taken aback by this, as I had already been there for about 25 minutes, had been served food and drink, and my dog was asleep, not causing anyone problems or any discomfort. All of the customers who were seated around us loved him, he made plenty of friends. The manager did not come out to speak to me personally, instead he sent our waitress out two times before he himself came out. He told me that I could not have the dog on the patio and kicked me out. We stayed to pay the bill, as that is not fair to the waitress, who Im sure would have been told by her manager that it would come out of her tips, but if that had not been the case I would have left immediately. There are at least two other restaurants on Shrewsbury St which have outdoor seating and allow dogs. We went to Vintage Bar and Grille (which I would highly recommend instead of Funky Murphys) and they were very happy to have us, even brought out water for my dog. With a plethora of better restaurants on Shrewsbury Street, I would recommend going elsewhere. From reading the other reviews, seems like the manager/managers are the problem, as the wait staff is usually great. I was a frequent patron, but I will never go back due to the treatment I received.

I am 51 years old and here I am writing my very first bad review. I took my friend to all you can eat steamers last night for his birthday. It was I believe 92 degrees yesterday and they had the front windows opened exposed the street. Normally I would love this but on a much cooler day and yesterday wasnt it. The "hostess" told us to sit out back it may be slightly cooler. It was, for approximately ten minutes. We were told to find a table and have a seat out back. We waited and waited very patiently for somebody, anybody to come serve is. Finally!!!! I cant speak for anyone in the resteraunt last night but the service my friend and I recieved was way way below what i have ever had. The steamers came all you can eat but not without asking twice each time for an order. Would have loved to have stayed longer to eat alk we could eat but the wait between the steamer oder and the oppressive heat we had to get the hell out of there. I know this sounds harsh and again I have never written a bad review but last nights birthday dinner was by far the worst i have ever had. I love Shrewsbury street for everything it had to offer but will not be stopping at Funky Murphys anytime soon.

Ive had good experiences here in the past, but this place has gone downhill - fast! The bartender was a bit of a cocky a**. He was being rude to a lot of customers, but I dont think he knew it. He seemed pretty oblivious to everything going on around him. We dont have any crazy expectations for food, we expected bar food. My fiance ordered steak, medium rare. He was told it only comes out medium well. Weird, but ok, he still ordered it. It tasted like steak that was cooked yesterday, refrigerated overnight, and re-heated, it was really bad. We didnt complain though, we were still in a good mood. After eating my fish, which was decent, I find a long black hair wrapped around my asparagus. (FYI, Im blonde.) I informed the bartender, not looking for a discount or anything, and as I mentioned before - Im not normally one to complain. An apology would have been nice, or maybe some replacement asparagus without hair. Instead, the bartender accused me of placing it there. I left a $2 tip on a $50 tab for the first time in my life.

Went for all you can eat steamers, sounded like a great idea. I got my first bowl, maybe 15 steamers and told the waitress to bring me another bowl immediately. My girlfriend got her steak and is an extremely slow eater. When I got my second bowl, again about 15 steamers, she was almost done with her steak. About 15 minutes between bowls. I again told the waitress that I wanted another bowl right away as it only took me about 3 - 4 minutes to clean and eat the small amount she gave me. She said that she was instructed that she had to wait until I was done with my serving before bringing me anymore. By this time my girl was done with her meal for a.while. I ended waiting for a total of four puny servings which took over an hour. By the way the place was pretty much empty during the time we were there. I ended up going home and making myself something to eat. A TOTAL RIPOFF, Will never go back again. Save your money.

We went there for the prime rib on Tuesday on entering the bartender told us to a sit anywhere that there were booths in the back. We have eaten there before and always been happy with the meal. The waiter was pleasant and attentive. We ordered the prime rib. There was a table near by with 4 men at it. they were loud and obnoxious and were swearing .After we had eaten and paid for our meal we told the waiter how upset we were. He explained that there had been a soccer party there earlier and they were left over. He also explained that one of them was the owner. We were appalled and just glad we didnt have our grandchildren with us and that they were no other children in there. Our opinion it was very unprofessional for a business owner.

It can be good at times and just OK others though decent for the most part. Its a stop I enjoy making with a bunch of friends or a quick stop for sangria/nachos. At entry it has bar that spans area, plenty of big screens showing sporting events, typical bar area tables [perfect for two and a squeeze for four] and outdoor seating. They have a back area for bigger parties and a more traditional dinning experience plus second bar a bit smaller. This is a perfect place to go with friends for drinks, appetizers and game. It can pick up during weekend nights and Ive seen them offer live performers. Note: 3.5 stars

Was not please with the food at this location. Burger was under cooked and the drinks were expensive. Im sure the place gets busy, based on the fact that is smelt like they did a mediocre mopping job after a few hundred beer spills. With all of the wonderful restaurants on Shrewsbury street, its really up to you where you go. I personally wouldnt recommenced Funky Murphys to anyone. Decent Tap selection, nothing extremely crafty, food selection was decent if it is cooked properly.

Waitress Josie only served my boyfriend after staring at him all night. His beer wasnt even finished yet and she asked him if he wanted a refill, when I had to wait over 20 min and ask someone else because she was completely ignoring me. She also charged my card twice. I spoke to the manager and he did not care one bit. Ill never go back to an establishment that doesnt respect someones significant other.
