We arrived at the restaurant on a Wednesday evening at 6:50pm put in our name and were told we had a 10 minute wait. We sat down with some menus and a buzzer and waited. Some other people arrived and we chatted with another couple asking about menu suggestions since we had never had food here before. A lady who had just finished eating looked at all the people waiting with a big surprised look on her face and asked us, "You all are waiting for a table? There are at least 16 tables available, I cannot believe you have to wait,." We reasoned maybe they are short staffed. Then one of the couples who had arrived before us got seated. Then at 7:15pm the couple who had arrived after us got called. They were obviously surprised to be called before us. The nice lady went up to the woman at the counter and pointed to us and told her that we had arrived before them. We could not hear what was said but it was obvious she was trying to get them to correct the error. But the error was not corrected. So with some hesitation the couple followed the waiter to the table. Since they were a party of 2 and we were a party of 2 there was no reason for them to be seated before us. We waited another 5 minutes or so and we were still not called. We decided this could not be the type of service we would tolerate. First a 10 minute wait had turned out to be longer than 25 minutes. Second, people after us were already being seated. There was no guarantee that we would even be seated! So we went inside and told the woman at the desk we were leaving because of these 2 reasons. She apologized for the error and offered some card. We told her we were not interested in any card or discount because we had no intention of coming back to a restaurant with such poor service.

Ok so i have gone to the 99 numerous times throughout my life in mass. Normally service food and timing is great. But for the first time my hubby and i went to the waltham one. First of all there were plenty of empty tables but they.hadnt been cleared of. A lil discerning to a diner. We get seated after waiting for 10mins. 10mins to clean and clear obe table! i should have left at that. We sit down tye menus are dirty:[ we were hungry so we stayed. I ordered a chicken caesar salad with italian dressing not caesar and he ordered steaktip dinner done extra well with emphasis on the extra. I ordered my diet coke as well. After waiting another 40 mins the food finally comes out and she rushes off. Wheres my drink? i let it slide thinking maybe she will bring it when she comes to check on us. We dig in starving! he bites into his steaktip and i see the blood drip down. If thats what the chef calls extra well done id hate to see medium! i bite into my.chicken and it was soggy(how is that even possible? Soggy meat?) she comes back after 15mins, kind of long to wait to check on a customer. I ask for my drink and the bf asks just to wrap his up,the taste of bloody meat didnt exactky appeal to him. Anyways i eat just my greens the chicken was just not good. Also the soda tasted watered down. We see the manager and flag him over and try to discuss our displeasure to him, he laughs it off and sarcastically says "thanks for the imput". if 99z is gonna hire a jerk like that perhaps its no longer my go to spot. Ill pass next time

Growing up in Massachusetts, there was always a 99 around to eat at. I enjoy the chain and take it for what it is. Its a chain but I like it more than many others and I know that I can go into any chain and order my standby and be satisfied. That being said, this is by far the worst 99 I have ever been to as far as service is concerned. I have only ever sat at the bar to eat. All but one of their bartenders is awful (I have never experienced the wait staff). It should be second nature when a person orders a drink to ask if they want popcorn to snack on. It should also be second nature to at least find out if they are ordering food, not wait 10 minutes after pouring drinks to interact with them at all. This helps the process along and leads to happier customers. If you are cleaning up the bar area at 9pm with a half full bar of people who want drinks and/or food, you are doing your job wrong. The bar needs to get cleaned by the end of the night. I understand that, but customers come first. At 9pm on a Friday night, you have plenty of time to get the cleaning done before you close. If youre not talking to customers, at least even about the weather and small talk, you are doing your job wrong. Period. Dont be a bartender. I have had fantastic experiences with bartenders and wait staff at every other 99 Ive been to from Albany to Plymouth. This one is just terrible. I live locally and I think I would rather drive the 10 extra minutes to the Woburn location than ever return to this one.

Worst experience in this restaurant, we sat for two hours with out service. No one came to check on us, we finally moved to the bar and decided to flag someone up for service. Aftet he took our order he forgot about us. I saw my food seat at the counter of the kitchen for more than 20 minutes but no one was bringing it to me. When i finally asked someone if we will ever be served, he picked the cold food and brought it over to us at 10pm. We refused it and the manager came only to apologize and tell us the same problem happens very often lately. What kind of manager says this to customers we decided to leave and go to a Chinese restaurant where we were served in just 10 minutes. I will never go to this restaurant again. I wish there was half a star thats what i would rate this restaurant because one ⭐️ feels like alot to give to this restaurant.

We took my Uncle out for dinner last night to the 99 in Waltham ma. I have to say. I was very disappointed with the food. My Uncle ordered a burger and fries. His fries literally had 4 fries on his plate. Our server made sure that they put extra fries on his plate. 4 fries? Pathetic. I ordered the whiskey sirloin steak. As rare as they could get it. When it came. It wasnt even pink. It was tough. and grainy. And stringy. I would never complain in a restaurant. I ate it and left. I really like the 99. We go often in our home town. I will never go back to the one in Waltham. I felt awful spending close to $70 on food that wasnt even good.... ~Disappointed

I love coming here. My fiance and I now come once a week for a quick drink and small bite. The wait staff is super friendly and the other day we were talking about our engagement and the manager came out and gave us a free dessert. They also have trivia nights and other weekly events.
