Ive been a customer here for over 10 years, travelling from Natick. On two occasions now, they have messed up our take-out order; the first time they gave us spicy seafood salad instead of tuna salad and this last time, the "spicy tuna salad" had such a bad fishy odor and the color was whitish, not even close to what the tuna looks like and should never smell fishy!!!! Something was substituted for the tuna and we couldnt stomach the odor, so had to throw it away. When I called to let them know something wasnt right, I was given such a defensive attitude by two different people; the first was a female who asked "oh yeah, well why didnt you call as soon as you got home? After she continued to argue that there was nothing wrong with it, I asked to speak to the owner. Next, a man got on the phone and was so defensive, telling me that theres no way the order could have been wrong and no way the fish could have been bad!!!!!! Told me I should have "checked the order when I picked it up" or driven it all the way back from Natick (35 mins) so they could inspect it. Finally, he explained that the owner will not issue a refund for any reason, but after further discussion said he would agree to a one-time refund for the $24 (for two bad containers of whatever it was) but NEVER issued the refund. I had to dispute the charge via my credit card company. I could not believe how rude and uncooperative they were on the phone- such a rotten way to treat a loyal customer. It would have taken 10 seconds to fix the problem, instead they were just the biggest jerks I have ever dealt with!!!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN will I return as a customer and I intend to tell EVERYONE I referred to them about this awful experience!!!!!!!!!!!

Fugakyu is a solid choice for sushi in the metro west. The fish is fresh, they have (some) interesting rolls, and the service is quick and friendly. It also goes beyond sushi and has a pretty indepth Japanese menu (however, I cant vouch for that quality as Ive only gone the raw fish route). The rolls will run you from $6/7 (straight up spicy tuna or something simple) to $13/14 (rolls topped with sahsimi and other delicious goodies) so it can get expensive. Despite the cost, what I think of when someone says "Fugakyu" is the sweet-tender-delicious Maguro Nigiri ($5 for 2 pieces). Ive definitely had better sushi, but the fact of the matter is I usually walk out of here satisfied and you dont have to trek into the city. If it was a little better quality or a little cheaper Id probably bump it to 5 stars.

Came to catch up with a friend. The indoor appearance was small and clean. We ordered a bottle of sparkling sake for the table and proceeded to order appetizers , several sushi entrees and a rice dish. We ordered 2 more bottles of the sparkling sake while eating but realized that it was only 5% and we were paying almost $30 a bottle! So we asked to order drinks instead. We were then informed we couldnt order anymore drinks! When we asked the waitress why she said the bartender had shut us off because of the sake , we argued that the 3 of us had essentially had one 5% drink over the past two hours! They then proceeded to try to have us continue ordering food! The food was ok but nothing special. Lotus blossom down the street is the place to be!

i have been there three times. The food is ok but the servce is terrible and I mean terrible I had to wait two hours for service and then the order was wrong - salmon instead of tuna Most restaurants when there is a bad delay will recognize it and make amends. Not so here. I walked out paying in cash for the drinks I had . And they called the cops passing on the information that I had two drinks - over two hours !!!. Over priced and terrible service, Avoid this place like the plague

Awful awful service. Hostess/manager kept giving us dirty looks and then threatened to cut us off before we even finished one drink, saying we were too loud (its not exactly a quiet place on a weekend night). But rather than ask us to quiet down, she came right over and told us we were cut off and they werent going to serve us anymore (too bad we had already finished eating). Never again.

Definitely our favorite sushi place; weve been going to Fugakyu many years now and very few other sushi restaurants can compare favorably. The fish is really fresh (as it should be for sushi!) and everything is prepared wonderfully. The servers are all great too. We especially like the Spicy Girl maki and also the Spider maki, but honestly, weve liked everything weve ever had here.

I have been here twice, both times getting the Bento Box with salmon. The first time I did not feel well afterwards, but did not attribute it to the meal. When I got sick at the table in the restaurant the second time, I realized it was the food making me sick. I lost a day with food poisoning and will not be returning again.

Fabulous restaurant. Expensive, but worth it. The fish is so fresh and tastes amazing, and their rolls are executed perfectly. The waitress filled my glass before I even had the chance to say that it was low; it was like we were telepathically connected and she knew everything I needed. Best sushi restaurant Ive ever been to!

I was at this place to find good non-sushi Japanese food. Perhaps if one has never eaten in Japan they might enjoy this food. But anyone who knows how Japanese food is supposed to be prepared will be very disappointed. Whats with all the white meat chicken???????? I will never go back.

The food has a strange, rubbery texture and the service is not that great. The kitchen "forgot" to cook one of our partys orders and it did not arrive until after the rest of us had eaten. The waiter was incredibly rude about it. Will not be going back

I have been eating here for years and have not had any complaints. Warm towels, fresh sushi, great food. The overall price is a bit much even though you do get a lot of good food. Beast dish is the unagi over rice dish around dinner time.

Great food + good prices + quick service = a great restaurant. I highly recommend getting one of the lunch special Bento Boxes available on weekends to 4 and on weekdays to 2:30.

This is by far my favorite place for sushi in the area. I find the price is fair and the food is great. Great place to grab sushi with friends and family.

We have been going there for years and will continue to. Great staff and the cherry blossom maki roll is the best.

Twice I have eaten here and gotten sick. Once after I left the restaurant and once while I was still there.
