Let me start with my sceptical view first I thought this place was going to suck. I was very wrong. Its a family environment and a bar on the other side. It reeks of traditional American sushi restaurant. Its is but the food was great even the California Roll was great with pleanty of Avo and sauce. My bento box was excellent. The salad dressing was good the greens could use some work. The tempura was perfect. My steak was perfect mid rare. Rice was tasty. My only con is all the children running around and the very large menu. My food came out quickly and the waitress was polite and quick very quick in fact, probably because it wasnt very busy but still everything came out great. I live locally and have never been here in the year I have lived nearby the waitress could smile more but not really what I need to enjoy my meal. Keep doing the food great and I will continue to review you good. Clean up the little things and you could put yourselves on the map with this place. I will be definitely back again.

Food is alright, but the service is awful. I had to wait forever just to get seated because no one is there at the door to greet you. Furthermore, throughout the whole meal there were two obnoxious kids, related to one of the staff members, running around and screaming. Not one of the waitresses ever disciplined them or told the guardian to keep them under control. My whole dinner was plagued with these infants stomping around and shouting at the top of their lungs. I dont dislike kids and I realize that sometimes you have to deal with them at restaurants, but they shouldnt be allowed to literally run through the dinning room and scream like their at an amusement park. Honestly, I will never go back to this place simply because of this incident. While not super expensive, Ichiban is not cheap, and I paid too much for such egregious negligence on the part of the staff.

Have been to this wonderful establishment several times most recently with my family from Texas and Michigan. For good measure we also brought a friend who does not usually eat this type of meal. We had a large crowd, we ordered the chef special rolls of the day as well as the usual seaweed salad, rice etc. Every bite was fresh, beautifully prepared and served with a smile. In all we chatted, ate and drank for several hours, leaving all sated and taking good memories for years to come. Thank you to all the staff. Take a moment to find this gem and treasure your time savoring fresh well prepared specialties. Yes we have frequented other Asian restaurants in the area but they win for excellence every time.

This place is great for genuinely delicious Japanese food in South Hadley! During my first 2 years at Mount Holyoke I was extremely homesick for some real Asian food in Boston, and had no idea this place existed. The closet good place was in Northampton, and I didnt know of any other restaurants that delivered other than Main Moon. This place delivers and has great sushi, dumplings, and chicken katsu. Their service is great, and the owner of the restaurant is so sweet. He doesnt like to charge students a lot and your delivery comes with a free soda. If you eat at the restaurant they make you free fried ice cream! Thank god this place exists! Haha, I would have starved during exam period if not for them.

I just had to write this seeing the other reviews, I hope they were for Golden China which was at the same location. Ichiban is an oasis in this area of horrible, greasy, deep-fried, tasteless "chinese" food. Their sushi is incredible. Really fresh and creative. I recommend the Honado Roll. Northamptons Osaka has a similar roll for twice the price and actually, I think Ichibans is better. I also recommend trying a Bento box. In addition, the place is clean, their service is always friendly and fast, and they give you FREE tempura fried ice cream for desert!!! You dont even have to ask!

After a management change this unpretentious restaurant was cleaned up and redecorated (complete with fully staffed sushi bar), and now offers a nice selection of Japanese dishes. The tempura is terrific, and if you can, its best when eaten in-house rather than as take out (when you eat there, youll even get ice cream for dessert). While the Chinese and Indonesian dishes on the menu are not as well done as the Japanese items, they are good and the quantity and pricing provides good value. The staff is generally quite helpful, too. Ichiban is definitely our favorite for Asian food in this area!

I dont know what the people that give this place one and two stars are talking about. I have been here so many times and it has always been fantastic! Good sushi, service and prices. I worked in food service and I think maybe some people need to use their brain and know that not everything it going to be perfect all the time, like the crumbs on the floor review. Come on. People go in with kids, they get a busy night, there are going to be a crumb or two here and there. They are only human. Everyone has always been very nice and attentive. I recommend them to everyone!

Ichibon has pleasant and attentive staff. Our server had perfect timing between courses. The fresh ingredients and interesting presentations make for an enjoyable eating experience. There is something for everyone on the menu so those in your party that dont care for sushi or shashimi will be accommodated. For those who love it there is an enormous selection of different rolls. The perfect dish for sharing is the Love Boat for Two! Although, if you have a hearty appetite like my son it is just right for one!

I go here frequently because the prices are reasonable and Ive never gotten sick. However, the quality of the sushi is really nothing like what you can get at other sushi places in the area like Rice on Boston Rd or Osaka in NoHo. Also, their servers really need a lesson in hospitality. I once sat at my table for 30 minutes while waiting for a friend to join me without even being offered a glass of water. I suggest you get take-out here and save your tips for a restaurant with better service.

Dont be fooled by the appearance (yes the atmosphere could be better), this restaurant has some very good Chinese and Japanese food. The menu is extensive. They even have a Malaysian section. The sushi was well prepared and delicious. The Chinese food was serve hot and was excellent. Service was outstanding, the servers worked as a team taking orders and removing plates. I didnt give five stars since the bathrooms were no up to par. Dont miss this gem in South Hadley!

The absolute BEST Chinese food around !! Your not hungry an hour later , you dont feel sick after . The prices are great and very good portions . The different types of seating inside is also neat . They actually check on your table as often as a waitress/ waiter should no matter how busy . If You like the family even has dessert included !! Id recommend this restaurant to anyone as I was recommended it from a good friend of mine !!
