After a rather horrible day of work out of town, I walked over from the hotel I was staying at. I asked for a Guiness and a double Jack Daniels. The barmaid told me I cant have a double only a single, I said fine. I then ordered an 18 oz prime rib with mashed potatoes and corn. The prime rib was huge as was the pile of mashed potatoes. The steak was tough, full of THICK strings of fat and the oh so appetizing big thick vein. The potatoes were so full of garlic they were horrible. The corn was fine. 20 minutes after I arrived I asked for the other half of my double and it was served to me. After finishing my meal I went out for a cigarette, came back and ordered desert, the towering mountain or something to that effect...basically warm brownie with ice cream and crumbled Oreos. As I was eating desert a fellow travelling business man sat down next to me and we began to chat so I decided to order one more shot to sip while I finished the 1/2 beer that was still in front of me. The barmaid said to me: oh no, you have to wait, we cant have you knocking back shot after shot after shot! I looked at her puzzled and said, are you serious? I havent knocked back any shots, Ive been slowly sipping them while eating a huge meal and I havent even finished half my beer and Ive been here over 45 minutes! I realized she was serious when she walked away and didnt get my shot. After about 10 minutes and she still didnt get my shot, I asked for my check and asked her what law this was because I had been in 46 of the 50 states and never heard such a thing. She told me its no law, they just care about their customers. I explained I was not driving, I was walking 50 yards to my hotel. She told me the human body can only handle 1 ounce of liquor per hour and therefore I had drank too much. I calmly explained that that is the average the human body metabolizes and different people metabolize alcohol at varying rates and asked if I appeared the slightest bit drunk. She replied no but it didnt make any difference. And her job is to serve alcohol...go figure. So, if you want a large quantity of crappy food and a good nagging, this is the place for you. If you want to relax and enjoy your meal and a drink, Boston has plenty of other great restaurants without the attitude. The desert was good by the way. I feel sorry for the owners, I am here for a week and probably would have spent $50-60 a night because of the convenience, instead my money and me will be looking elsewhere.

I stopped by for a late afternoon meal and having never been to this restaurant before stopped at the hostess station which is adjacent to the bar. Despite a bartender and a waitress not 15 feet away, no one really acknowledged my presence until the a hostess directed me to a table a few minutes later. When my waitress arrived at the table there, unfortunately, was no greeting. No "Hello, how are you today," no "Welcome to 99 Restaurant", just "What can I get you." I asked to start with the Seared Steak & Four Cheese Flatbread but asked that it be made without the bleu cheese. The waitress seemed a bit confused but said that she would check with the kitchen. Sorry but the appetizer is "pre-made" (I suspect code word for frozen). I also ordered their Crispy Fish Tacos as the entree. The flatbread was hot (fresh out of the microwave?) and pretty good for mainstream chain restaurant. The fish tacos were pretty good as well, they had a single, breaded strip of fried fish that topped, strangely enough, a filling made mostly of shredded cabbage, wrapped in a flour tortilla and topped with chipotle mayonnaise . The accompanying citrus cilantro rice was mediocre, lacking any flavor or citrus or cilantro. Overall the food was more than acceptable for this category of restaurant - nothing fantastic but nothing terribly disappointing either. What was poor was the service. Not only did the waitress fail to greet me but also she never asked, despite coming back to refill my drink, how my food was. On a positive note, she did thank me when presenting the check.

The bartender, that has been there for years, has a bad attitude. First time few years ago she just changed the channell we were watching without asking us and when asked politely if she could switch it back, gave all kinds of mumbling and looks amd still did not switch back... Tried to give this place second chance after long break...Again same bartender lady....Makes up her own rules as well like she would not serve you more than 2 tall beers.....wtf is this about??? We re in a bar, eating and having couple beers and apperently you cant drink more than 2 hahha. Last time Im there, plenty choices around.

Food was burnt. Asked for Medium, received burnt steak. Asked for medium burger it was rare. Waitress Emily was terrible. Two of us at a table, after waiting a long time for her to come back, my friend asked if we could have more water because cups were empty and she brought one cup for him. I had to ask her to bring me a cup of water specifically. Barely tended to us. Even for 99 everything about the visit was so bad.

My wife and I have eaten here twice now while staying at La Quinta across the street. It looks like a shabby place on the outside but the food is absolutely amazing, and the staff are so friendly! I cant remember the last time I was so pleasantly surprised with a restaurant. Their spicy boneless wings and the potato skins for starters are to die for! Also, try their bacon tomato mac & cheese for lunch!

We were there with 4 small kids and 4 adults at 6:30pm and it took 2 hours to get in and out. Slowest service ever. it took 15 min for the waitress to come and greet us. The drinks came at the same time as appetizer. Never got water refills. I asked for rice for my son and got fries. I will absolutely not go back. This was our first and last time at 99.

The food is mostly average, but also inconsistent. Occasionally its decent. Sometimes its horrible. Its the KMart of family restaurants. Its close to my house, so I go there more than Id like to :-( You can tell that low prices is their main goal. This chain USED TO be much better...its change in management sent this place way downhill.

The 99 has got to be one of the best values around for singles and families alike. The menu has something for everyone. The burgers are delicious and the mashed potatoes are to die for. Always a good selection of beer and great TV coverage in the bar and restaurant.

The food was reasonably priced, abundant, and most importantly it was very good. The waiter I had told me about the local history and was readily available and considerate of refills and food suggestions. I would definitely return if I found myself in the area again.
