Awful experience. The full parking lot, usually a good sign, belied what was really in store. As a solo diner I was escorted to a dark and otherwise empty dining room apparently reserved for diners who wouldnt provide "adequate" revenue. I asked to sit in the bar instead and found a table there on my own. Food was flavorless and unremarkable. Hot and sour soup was the worst Ive had in a very long time; three tastes and I pushed it aside. Waiter did not check back except to see if he could sell me another beer. I was never asked how the food was or if I needed anything else. Another waiter did finally ask. I told him I didnt like the soup. He replied that everybodys soup is different. After I finished the entree, the original waiter finally returned to ask me after the fact how it was. I told him I didnt like the soup and as Id hardly touched it, requested that he remove it from the bill. He replied that I should have told him sooner. I told him that if hed asked, I would have told him. "But I asked if you wanted another beer", he replied. "Yes, but then you left", I said. He finally acquiesced and told me that he would remove the soup this time, but that next time he would not be so accommodating. "There wont be a next time", I replied. The guy actually stood there and argued with me about the issue instead of showing in the least that he cared about my dining experience. What a jerk! Not another word was spoken during the transaction. This was absolutely abysmal. The food was mediocre, the service inexcusable. Avoid this restaurant!

The Kowloon is an iconic restaurant in Saugus MA and has been frequented by many a famous person, including most of the WWE greats, countless comedians, actors, you name them and theyve probably been here (their photos and autographs are on the entrance walls). The hosts are very friendly and accommodating and the food is very good. My one gripe with the restaurant is that it is extremely dark inside and very crowded/loud whenever we go (and we go often as this is the family "go-to" for family celebrations"). They have been super accommodating to my grandparents over the years, sitting them where they please and are always willing to take back an order if it was not what someone had exactly ordered, although this doesnt happen often, when it did, they would immediately take it back and return with the correct order. The Kowloon also has events on the weekends like comedy shows which are a nice addition. The bar which is accessible right when you walk in is a fair size. All in all, this is a great place to take your family for a fantastic Chinese food meal.

One of the last pieces of Route One Nostalgia has finally left us. Kowloon Restaurant has been a staple in this community for 50 year and has always had families returning for more. They have changed the menus, almost doubled their prices and have made up for it by treating customers poorly. We ordered something we have ordered before and it was terrible! Tonight we were told if we ordered something else and it was bad we would be charged for it. Make sure if you do make the mistake of coming here you dont try something new because if it sucks youll pay for it. There was one minor success, my three-year-old enjoyed her bowl of smooshed cherries, thats the only thing that they could get right and the only thing they didnt make. The owner came to visit us,yelled and screamed. Insulted us and then told us if he was eating something he didnt like he wouldnt complain because if it sucks then thats how the chef makes it. This is the owner,RIDICULOUS!

The absolute worst service we have ever had!!! The server acted as if every thing you asked for was a hassle. Sighing after asking for a substitution, bringing the wrong food out, and getting upset w us for asking for a drink menu... I could honestly go on abput what a horrible server he was, but Id rather mention to save yourself the trip, because the food was worst than the service!!! Four of us ordered a Pu Pu Platter, which was in itself lackluster, along with some Crab Rangoons w absolutely no flavor, an order of Lo-Mein which had more vegatable, than meat, and noodles(after ordering no vegatable in it) and watered down Scorpion Bowl for two. The bill came up to $104, with a very reluctantly placed tip, the meal ended up being the worst $120 I ever remember spending in my entire life(No exaggeration)!!! Save your money, save your gas, save yourself from an absolute disappointment!!! DONT BE FOOLED BY THE COOL LOOKING RESTERAUNT...

Always a delicious meal. We had our company Christmas Party here. Tons of amazing food, delivered fast and so good. We had a group of 30 and it wasnt a problem to seat us all or get such a big order to the table quickly. We are all restaurant employees and understand the challenges of serving such a large group. They welcomed us all heartily and were all set up ready. Their staff was very friendly and very attentive. We started out with drinks of all types and PuPu Platters. In the blink of an eye they were serving us. More drinks and individual entrées next and even 30 different orders all came out quick, hot and perfectly prepared. When the final bill arrived it was very reasonable for all we ordered. Everyone was very happy with the party and the choice of Kowloon. They made a fun night out for a restaurant staff truly memorable. I would highly recommend Kowloon for individual dining or for groups of any size.

Bartender was awful, i asked him for a recommendation that involved vodka, and advised i liked lemonade, he literally gave me 3/4 vodka and a splash of lemonade, and the menu said subsitutions were available but he didnt accomodate, his co-worker ended up helping me because the older bartender wanted to charge me for a full order of an item, when i wanted it as an extra on my plate. Will not go again, its sad too because i have been going there since i was a child, and this was the first time i went by myself, and i have to say i will drive back to Lynn just for Green Tea. Kowloons is not the same customer service anymore, food ia good but not worth it anymore because of this. I know this review might not go anywhere but shame on Kowloons for having a bartender like the one that served me.

Not bad a place when you want something in a hurry but to call it Asian food is a misnomer. Its very Americanized and nothing like what real Asian style food supposed to be. Usual crowd of North suburban Boston overweight white people frequent it with mounds of deep fried guk in their plates. Wouldnt recommend it to anyone who is an urban dweller type with a better sense of what is quality or with any sort of refined palate. White fast talking middle aged stressed looking suburban female waitresses who cant pronounce the letter R rushing you to order. Rude asian inattentive bartenders at times make you wonder if your just a pain in the arse by being there. Makes you not want to even tip them. Id give it no grade if i could since its.just a place to fill your belly. Tacky interior to boot.

If you rock the ironic or post-ironic, or if you live and breathe mid-century kitch and covet all things tiki, this is your place. The food is exactly what you would expect from a tiki place - including the over-sweeted, over-greased, MSG hangover that lasts for days. But that, along with the fake palm trees, indoor boat, and 3-D back-lit waterfall moving paintings, is part of the magic, right? Like all these places, dont expect to find anything healthy, refined, and/or gourmet on the menu. But then, why would anyone expect to find that at a tiki restaurant? If you want to take a trip in the way-back machine and experience the Asian cuisine of the 1950s suburban America, take a tums and go for it before Tiki becomes fully extinct.
