After going to Cathay Pacific last night I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. We did not even make it to a table beforewe turned right around and left. I was with my girlfriend, mother and my brother is 27 years old and has Down syndrome. We got there around 8 oclock last night, having planned this for a couple of days so we could eat and watch the Bruins game. After moving out of my house it is not all the time I get to see my mother and brother. So upon arriving I asked the gentleman who was hosting if we could sit in the lounge so we could eat and watch the game. First they told us that it would be too loud in the lounge so we probably should not eat in there. We informed the gentleman that we wanted to watch the play off game and that was one of the reasons we were out. We also did not understand this, as there were two out of the four in our party wearing Bruins apparel. I proceed to tell him that the conditions in the lounge were fine and we would still like to be seated there. It seemed as if because we were a family and two of the four of us would not be drinking that we would be wasting a table in the lounge and we were not going to rack up a big enough tab over there for their liking. The host who was very un professional and just flat out rude asked forevery ones IDs for proof we were all over 21. After assuring him we all were well over 21 we also produced three licenses and one MA state issued ID, we were then denied a table. Once again the host tells me, that my brother who has Down syndrome and clearly is incapable of driving needed a license and that his Massachusetts State ID was not sufficient. I understand that restaurants have policies and procedures which none of us had any problem with. It was the mere fact thatt here was such an issue over sitting in a lounge and ID rather than a license to prove a certain persons age. As this unprofessional and rude host continues telling me we can not sit over there keep on thinking to myself how is this legal, how can he be turning us away from a table when we all just proved our age. Granted we were by the front entrance, where all the managers were sitting listening to the whole situation and neither of them said a word. After being repeatedly told that because we could not produce a license for my brother wecould not eat in the lounge and watch the Bruins, we finally left. I have never felt so bad in my life because as this all is happening my bother is standing there with the saddest look on his face asking my mother if this is because of him. Is it really that hard to understand people have disabilities and other factors that make it impossible to drive, so because ofthat they can’t eat at certain places, and get turned away when they are with others? This is discrimination, and the disturbing part about the whole situation is that there are several other instances similar to this one that occurred at Cathay Pacific. Not only did you lose the service of my family and but anyone that mentions the name of your restaurant I will make it a point to tell this story. This review is not the last time you will hear from me, I have already contacted news channels to tell them about my case of discrimination and all the other cases that have taken place here. There are laws against discrimination and hopefully I can find the right person to hear my story that can handle this situation correctly.

i thought the food was excellent, and very reasonably priced for the quality and portion sizes.... and no, i didnt see any hookers or drug dealers in the parking lot... and if someone thinks they did, i hope theyre citing a specific police report or filed one themselves, and are not simply slandering a business(which i found to be very clean, courteous, and family friendly) because they didnt like the location of [or socioeconomic bracket of the clientele frequenting] said establishment. when i was a kid, my family used to go to the Cathay Hanover on the south shore about once a month, and then the owners moved their location to Quincy when i was a teenager. now, i can enjoy the same menu and atmosphere that i shared with my family years ago, and i hope that the negative reviews some have posted will not deter anyone from enjoying a family friendly restaurant that, yes- is very careful about not serving underage individuals[and is something i think they should be commended for] as so many other places are not as steadfast in their approach... and ill be honest: a bunch of minors drinking in a lounge and likely having that first beer experience that we all know can be a bit unpleasant, would likely ruin anyones enjoyment of a romantic date or family meal. it *is* a shame that some individuals have not been able to enjoy this establishment due to the fact that their IDs were not those specifically required by the management, as i feel very deeply for the situation where a young disabled man was not allowed to watch the bruins due to his lack of a drivers license, which was totally out of his control and due to his disability. situations like this one are a terrible shame and i wish there were a simpler solution. but, personally, i blame the system and those individuals who abuse and try to sidestep the rules that oftentimes ruins things for the rest of us. the restaurant is simply trying to protect themselves from the deception and poor judgment of others, and it truly is unfair that some people have suffered due to the actions of a few who would take advantage of a more lax policy and endanger themselves and others. having had 2 friends killed by an underage drunk driver, i respect the restaurants stance on carding, but i do think it a terrible shame that the irresponsible actions of a few have negatively affected the experiences of adults looking to have a nice night out. again- no hookers, no drug dealers, an issue or two here or there, like all establishments, but overall, i think its a great place for the price and im glad to know that a restaurant ive enjoyed for years has survived the economic times and competition, managing to stay around for as long as they have. i hope anyone who hasnt been will at least give it a try once... just make sure to bring a valid license or passport(i didnt drive till i was 22, and i once had to go home for my passport to pick up some sudafed from a pharmacy because they wouldnt take my MA ID card..... and i was clearly sick, and not 17... :/ what can you do?

I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. I went here last night for the first time with a friend of mine and my husband. Absolutely despicable. The service is horrendous, I cant with good conscience comment on the food because we left after being there for about 5 minutes. FYI to anyone who will not heed my warning and go anyway, they will NOT take a Massachusetts state ID, regardless of your age. They wouldnt accept my 30 year old husbands, and he doesnt even drink!! They wouldnt even let him stay for food at 9:30pm on a Wednesday. And even this wouldnt have been so bad if they hadnt been so rude about it!! My husband was rudely told to go get a passport (who carries around a $100 passport to go out to eat?!) that his ID means nothing to them, and that Massachusetts IDs are a dime a dozen. (Im assuming she meant theyre easy to fake??) Well then, someone should let the state of Massachusetts know that their state IDs are crap, and not accepted at some establishments as a proper form of ID. So why would anyone even get one??? Geez, some people have a Mass ID because theyre disabled and CANT DRIVE!!! It amazes me that establishments are even legally allowed to not except a perfectly valid state issued form of ID!!!! It seems like discrimination to me. Obviously we will not be going back. Worst of all?? $40 down the drain for a babysitter so we could go out for the first time in 2 months. We drove 30 minutes away in crappy weather, just to be sent away. Yuck.
