The service was absolutely awful when we went, as a party of three Thursday night. Our waiter was a younger Mexican gentlemen. There was only one other party in the dining room. Our waiter seemed so totally engrossed with the larger party, I would have liked to order a second margarita, but due to our waiter running off as soon as he slammed the food down on the table, I could not. We ordered the Queso Fundido, which was not cooked the same was it last time. This time it wasnt cooked all the way properly, which resulted in it being almost inedible. We had two orders of Albondigas Soup, which were excellent; however, when it was served to me the soup has obviously spilled quite a bit in transit. Soaking the napkin under the soup bowl. I can believer it was served in this fashion. The waiter should have never have served the soup in that condition. Our waters were never refilled, we had an extra salsa cup that was filled with trash (napkin holders, things like that), that was never removed from our table, even though our waiter (and many others walked by) but wouldnt remove it. We would have like our margaritas refilled, but never had the opportunity to ask the waiter. When youre paying between 12-16 a plate you should have to flag the waiter down. Food and definitely the service was a severe let down. Wont be back here for sure.

Worst place ever! Used to be good, now under new ownership. Where do I begin? Saturday night...Had a Groupon to use... 1. Incompetent host - could not manage a short list of people waiting. Skipped us over twice 2. Tasteless salsa 3. Queso was pretty much Tostitos out of a jar - but not even warmed up. We sent it back and the waiter brought out another bowl of it, still cold. 4. Waited 45 mins for enchiladas and tacos. According to the waiter, they were having a tough night. 5. Food was utterly tasteless. It made Chilis or On the Border taste like authentic Mexican. (yeah, it was that bad) 6. Did I mention the womens restroom was out of order? Seriously, Ive never written an online review before but I feel compelled to warn everyone out there. This may have been my worst dinner out in my entire life.

The food was excellent as always. The service could use a little training. We were greeted sweetly. Then a server came and brought us flatware and said she could not take our drink order because she was not our waitress. Which annoyed me. Im in the service industry and the customer is 99% right. So just take the order and let the correct server know.... we were seated first in the out door section but last to get our chips and salsa, but that could be due to the drinks, "margarita ". ... other than that one server and timely fashion it was delish. And we still always go back... other than the terrible server, which weve had in the past, which they should remove her because shes untrainable, the rest was great. We love it...

Its Taco Bell taste with Mezcal prices! The portion sizes are not good, Quesadillas for $9.99 and all you get is 6 small triangles and nothing more. You could get full at Taco Bell cheaper to be honest. The deco is cheap and tacky, I guess what you would expect for a low end authentic Mexican restaurant. The Margaritas are good but overpriced and the glass is chuck full of ice. Honestly, I live about 30 seconds away from this place and would drive anywhere else to get Mexican. If they improve their prices and/or portion sizes they would be good, but otherwise dont bother! Overpriced, just okay tasting food!

Used to really like this place. The food isnt good anymore, even the chips were awful, the actual restaurant has like 3 different radio stations playing in different parts of the restaurant plus televisions with the sound on, and the crappy lighting strobes. So you have the multiple radio stations, televisions, kitchen noise, then all the customers trying to talk over this mess while the lighting strobes, and then the food isnt as good as taco bell. The service was good though

Solid Mexican American food with very friendly, albeit sometimes a little slow service. Margaritas are big and the special Margs are good, though suggest asking for a lime juice only margarita because the sour mix is pretty sweet. The location in Spencer is probably better than the Holden one, as they seem to have table side guac more often, but the Holden Mexicali is still good Mexican American food at very reasonable prices. Would recommend for a laid back dinner.

we do mostly takeout. usually its real good but sometimes they forget items, last week they missed my burrito but still charged me for it. wasnt worth going back and fighting them over it. we like their food though so ill probably go back. the pork taco is really good, although sometimes they dont clean the pork shoulder well and youll get a big bite of fat, which is something i now clean out prior to eating the taco. tamales are good here too.

This Mexican place is the closest Mexican restaurant we have to where I live. They have excellent take out and provide a large quantity of food. I have not eaten inside this restaurant but have always used it as take out there take out as quick efficient and after a 20-minute ride home my food is still warm. Would recommend this restaurant to anybody.

The atmosphere is festive, or waiter was very polite and helped us with our selection and our Groupon coupon.we are so glad we stopped here for lunch! I,m going back because my Angel told me to get the chicken, he swears it is just like his mom used to make for him when they lived in Mexico! Thats good enough for me! Thanks for the tip Angel !

Outstanding our favorite, use to do business in San Diego and could not wait to get to Old Town. I never though I would say it but the Mexicali Holden does! Everything FRESH light and delicious. Staff is friendly, fun and always smiling. Just a great place, if you like it fresh and have driven by you are really missing a treat

poor service, cold food. Have tried it 3 times, same thing each time. Complained to the young girl at the front desk on the last visit, not that she seemed to care. last time were going, which is too bad, since many people say its good. Weve just never experienced it. Even the take out was poor. sorry.

Came for my 1 year wedding anniversary with my husband. This was where we had our first date 7 years ago. Food is good, margaritas are yummy and the service is very friendly! Our waitress asked if we were celebrating anything special and treated us to some churros!! We had a great time

Convenient, thats about it. Had to send back greasy kids meal taco. I think one person serving whole lace and took 2 people to decide how to seat 5 people. Then tried to seat all of us at table for four. I think Taco Bell has better burritos.

The food was excellent, the best Mexican Ive had on the East Coast, BUT the service was very bad. Inexperienced waitperson and long, long waits for everything from appetizer to dessert. Would I go again? Probably not.

I like the service here. I typically get takeout, but the serving size for a lunch special is good and theyre fairly quick. Oh, the food is quite good too. and I appreciate the chips and salsa they give you too.
