What can I do for you, the manager asked in an accusatory tone? We didnt have a reservation. We are from the mid-west, had lived in Boston a while ago and were taking our daughter on a tour of colleges. It is perfectly fine to say that there will be a long wait. We were up front about not having a reservation. But please spare us the condescension, the rudeness, and the utter bombast. I imagine the food is reasonable and all we were looking for was a good meal. We didnt ask to be treated so poorly, so disrespectfully, and dismissively. What is about us that made us seem so abhorrent? Was it simply the fact that we didnt have a reservation? Or was it something else? I intend to actively recommend that no one go to this place lest they wish to feel violated. This is a restaurant not the gate to heaven. Learn to behave yourself Mr. Manager.

Meh - Ive been wanting to come here for a long time. I ordered the spaghetti allo scoglio and was quite disappointed - there was a heavy flavor of butter (??) and the seafood didnt seem fresh but rather frozen from one of those seafood mix varieties (without shells) that you find in a frozen food aisle. Needless to say, I wasnt impressed. My husband ordered the risotto ai funghi - again, the dish tasted mediocre at best. I would say it did have more flavor than mine. I would have given the dishes two stars but I added an extra star for the server who was attentive and nice, and the ambiance gave off the impression of an authentic Italian restaurant. The bread was tasty too.

The ambiance is classy yet very comfortable. My mom is 100% Italian and I am extremely picky about Italian foods. Toscanos food is outstanding and a rare find. I love having more than 1 type of pasta and normally split entrees with others. Toscano lets you order half orders of 2 pastas. They have unique items on their menu including the blueberry white chocolate tart which is a favorite. Management will do everything possible to accommodate customers. Im from DC and visit Cambridge 10 to 12 times a year and dine at Toscanos every visit. It would without a doubt compete with the very best restaurants of DC.

I went at about 8:30pm with a reservation, and there fortunately was no wait. The waiters/waitresses were extremely friendly, and the food, absolutely AMAZING. One of the best traditional Italian restaurants I have ever been to. The spaghetti allo scoglio was delicious, especially the seafood: its so fresh. The lobster dinner special was perfectly cooked- and the risotto that came along with it was deliciously warm and savory. It was all so good that I had the same pasta the next day at lunch. PERFECT. Loved it so much, highly recommend it for a special occasion or simply when you want a fancy dinner.

Delicious pasta with classical Italian fare. Great for a date night, celebration outing, or a nice night out. Food was high quality with good service. I had the homemade gnocchi - it was delicious! My one specific complaint about this place: the hostess was quite rude to us and even interrupted our dinner to tell us something about our dinner timing (we were a few minutes late to the reservation and she wanted to make sure we would get out on time). Hostess: please remember youre there to help your guests have a good time, not be a nanny and time their dinner.

This is my go-to spot for authentic Italian in a nice, warm atmosphere. Ive been here with smaller parties and larger celebrations with co-workers and I have never heard anything but rave reviews of the food. Small things, like the meatball appetizer receive as much attention as entrees and will surprise you. Dont hurry, because you will spend time enjoying your meal at Toscano. Also, I believe they offer valet parking which can be a lifesaver in Harvard Square

Have eaten here twice. First time it was the beginning of semester and I wasnt paying. I popped in to treat myself on the very last day of a very stressful semester. Had the Flat Noodle Homemade pasta with a sausage Bolognaise. Was really well done. Bar Guy was super nice. Understood that I had like a few minutes and then needed to get back to my study group. Will return and people say pricey but I am a grad student and anyone can afford lunch here.

Went for lunch to celebrate our granddaughters graduation from Northeastern. Susan was our server and was excellent. One member of our party had a very limited window of time so she took a quick order and produced his lunch promptly. The rest of us had a relaxed lunch and our choices were great. To top it off the chef sent us a sample plate of desserts to complete our celebration. Highly recommend.

Food was just delicious and its a beautiful spot. Only negative was staff gave our table away even though we were less than 15mins late and Id tried to call but couldnt get through (one of our party had fallen sick, hence the delay). Fortunately they found us another table. Maybe its a common problem of people not showing for bookings but it would have been nice if they had phoned to check

Fantastic food, good craft beer selection, cool-but-elegant private-club vibe (think 1950s, not 2000s), and great service. I had a beer and small pizza (something with truffles, gotta love them truffles!) for lunch, and it was absolutely delicious.

Meh.. not any where close to being worth the ticket price. Clumsy plating and oversold menu with one of the weirdest servers Ive ever had. Would never go back. The atmosphere was really quite amazing so is why I didnt give it less stars.

Try Osso Bucco. I have been here 5 times and thats what I have had each time. Osso Bucco and a bottle of Moscato. They have the usual Italian fare and most of it good. Pizza are really good and the pasta and the minestrone soup too..

Great service and wine. We ordered and shared the caprese and the rigatoni special. Wine paired well which was recc. And the martinis are excellent. Great for day time or even for special occasions.

Great atmosphere and delicious food. Its pretty much the only Italian restaurant in the area. Its on the edge of Harvard square but you feel like youre in the north end. I highly recommend it.

Toscano is awesome. I love that you can do 2 half portions of pasta for 1 price which is a great way to try different things! The inside is fun and its always nice to have good Italian food.

Delicious food with courteous and knowledgeable staff to back it up. Fair prices considering that it is a bit upscale, and it is in a great location. Will definitely be coming back!

Have been here many times but when I brought my wife to the bar was discriminated against. Managers only excuse was he "saw what was happening." Will not return.

Betty friendly waitstaff. A good selection of foods and brought out in a timely manner. Everything from the bread rolls to the honey truffle oil was spectacular.
