My absolute favorite restaurant in Boston, and maybe top 10 all-time. I come to Boston often and will always make sure I can find time for a meal at Coppa. The restaurant Quaint & cozy. A place where you can go with a group or find yourself perfectly at home at the bar. My choice. At the bar you get to sit near a great mix of locals ( some who have even moved to this area to be near the restaurant ) & tourists seeking out this spot because theyve read such excellent things about the chefs & the restaurant. With either group you always strike up a conversation, order based on what you see them snacking on and often share smiles. The Food The menu seems changes around but they always have awesome staples of meat & cheese that make for a great meal on their own. All the food is core to its italian heritage but always has a unique twist - some interesting harissa sauce or asian spice. It makes for fun discovery of classic dishes made in ways you may not expect. Favorites : The Passato : Its a hummus that is made of vegetables ( carrot or pumpkin) and is unlike anything Ive seen anywhere before. Super yummy. Pastas : I prefer the Sugo & the Cavatelli. These change all the time and you can get small orders so you can try other things and not feel too full. Pizzas : They have a wood oven pizza so these are pretty freakin awesome. Id recommend just the simple Margherita with toppings of choice. There are some creative ones with eggs or bone marrow for the more adventurous. Drinks : a great assortment of beers & cocktails compliment the wine list. The bartenders will direct you to the right place. I highly recommend Coppa! Its the perfect definition of an Enoteca that offers exactly what you would expect in Italian dishes but constant seasonal and creative updates.

I was excited to try Italian-style dishes in tiny, easy to share portions. I was also curious about this place having just met the lovely guy that supplies the olive oil to the restaurant at SoWa. First things first. The service was super European style. The waitress needed to be flagged down to get service. It was a beautiful night to sit outside so it didnt bother me too much. What did bother me was the fact that they were out of 2/3s of their menu. But still, I was sad I didnt get to try the infamous aracino balls, asparagus, or tuna. And my friend really wanted the chicken liver crostini, but nope, another strike out. I did order the pesto and farro, which I cant complain. Ive had farro before and tried cooking with goose berries, which are the most impossible grains to make flavorful. Or so I thought, until having the one at Coppa, which tasted almost pickled to perfection. We also ordered cocktails, which the waitress graciously wrote off of our bill because she felt bad for the lack of menu items. All-in-all not an awful experience. I only hope the next time I come in they will have more of their entrees.

Pros: The food is very good. Our server was even better; she knew all about the allergy game. We had the Italian grinder, and the meat was sliced so thinly it almost melted. The meat is sliced at the bar. Ooh, the flavor! We also split a pizza: 1/2 bone marrow (white pizza, bone marrow, roasted beef heart & fresh horseradish) and 1/2 Nduja (tomato, spicy Calabrian pork sausage, burrata & oregano). Delicious/crunchy! Cons: I thought the drinks were over priced, but I realize its Boston; this might not be a con. They give you bread with olive oil to start, but the issue is, the olive oil dried-up after only a few dips. And, if you want extra marinara gravy, thatll cost you, but it is pretty good (pro). Finally, I highly recommend making a reservation, especially later in the week; the place is tiny (maybe 40 seats). We had to leave last week because the wait was over an hour at 9:00 PM and they close at 10:00 PM. Summation: I will go back, and I do recommend Coppa!

On a recent re-visit, we were delighted with our choices: Panino al Riccio di Mare (sea urchin and roasted tongue with pickled mustard seeds) was a great pairing and brought back beautifully my Proustian, olfactory memories of swimming in the Atlantic way back when; an Italian Grinder with buttery salumi and pickled cherry peppers that came through perfectly crisp bread unencumbered by thickness; Polpette (tender, flavorful meatballs in a tomato reduction that was slightly too salty by itself but fine with bread scoopings); Rigatoni alla Bolognese (Semolina pasta, Abruzzese style argue of veal, lamb and pork) that let all the flavors sing; and Salsiccia pizza (tomato, pork sausage, ricotta, roasted onion and fennel pollen) that matched and even surpassed Bostons best. Glasses of Montenapoleone and Verdicchio served very well, as did Elizabeth, who was nicely solicitous, especially of possible allergy issues that we discussed.

Coppa is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. After eating here youll have trouble eating at any other Italian restaurant. The dishes are all inspired, creative and just plain delicious. The serving staff are all friendly and knowledgeable and are more than willing to offer up suggestions for dishes to try and wines to pair. Ive been here multiple times and I havent had a single bad dish. They have a very limited dessert selection but the gelato is excellent. Reservations are difficult to come by so the further in advance you can plan the better. If its a nice evening the patio is a wonderful way to spend your evening. Coppa is one of my favorite restaurants and once you try it I promise itll be one of yours too.

Came here for dinner on a rainy Thursday night and it was packed! Got a seat at the bar and proceeded to have an excellent meal! I started off with the oyster appetizer which was 2 pieces of oysters on the half shell topped with various sauces and sorbets. It was divine!! I got the half portion of the spaghetti carbonara with pancetta and uni for my main course. The pasta was cooked perfectly and each bite was so flavorful with the carbonara sauce, fresh uni, and crispy pancetta. Finally, I ended the meal with a scoop of the chocolate chip gelato. Creamy gelato with huge chunks of melt in your mouth chocolate chips!! I cant wait to come back and try their other dishes!

a quarter of a 1/2 pound piece of cheap burrata cheese (as in not the good stuff, even from ca, forget about the decadently creamy stuff from puglia) should not cost $9. fresh mozzarella from the supermarket is better. this place is a total scam. the chefs should be ashamed. instead theyre rich and dont care. small plates are great when the food quality is actually excellent, even if its an expensive affair. but this place preys on a hip reputation and clientele, and should be boycotted, until prices come down considerably. $13 for half a serving of pretty decent pasta is ridiculous. its not like its unusually excellent food. avoid.

Coppa is extremely overrated. Started off with the cheese plate (5) cheeses which was OK. Then ordered two of their pasta dishes. Both were very average at best, nothing remotely close to the quality I expected. The service was slow and unorganized. After entrees two seperate waiters came over to take our dessert order after we had already placed an order. In truth this was the highest overrated place ive ever been to. As someone who goes out to dinner several nights a week, I will certainly warn you to not fall trap to this restaraunts high web ratings. In summation: 1. Bland food 2. Horrific service 3. Cluttered atmosphere
