village fare hater
I wanted to be optimistic about this place. Really, I did. Looking at it objectively, with a commoners eye, it simply cant be beat. Affordable on a students budget, conveniently located right next to the (possibly more gourmet) offering of a CVS pharmacy, and near enough to the broiling hellhole of a location that is Brookline High School to be an appropriate hangout for teenage goblins and gremlins of all ages. As I said--I wanted to love Village Fare. But All i have ever found within these walls is overly greasy pizza, a barren, loveless landscape, and the essence of fear. Whenever I step foot into this shabby yet harmless-looking shop, its as if the liminal veil shivers. The first time I ever came here was a dark January night. I wouldve never sought it out, but instead came with two good friends of mine who insisted on a quick bite and unbeatable prices. "Its good," the older of the two said, with the fear of God in his eyes. It is possible that he was entirely sincere, however--I have watched this same boy, on another occasion, put a fried chicken cutlet between two slices of pizza (not from Village Fare, thank the Heavens!) and eat it as a sandwhich. We arrived at your storefront and ducked in from the cold. That night, I bet my same friend that he couldnt shove an entire piece of Village Fare pizza into his mouth, chew, and swallow it. Thanks to the realm-bending powers of this pizza shop, he achieved the task with very little difficulty, and I had to give up $3 of cash in coins that was clogging up my wallet. This has little to do with that fact that he is gay. Another time I came to Village Fare with no less than 5 lesbians, and they asked me to order mozerella sticks for them. Each time, I said "These mozerella sticks are for me." The minute they touched my plate, the mozerella sticks had disappeared, and once again I would trudge up to the bleary-eyed man at the Village Fare counter and beg plaintively for another batch of mozerella sticks. They, too, would disappear in an instant. Little things simply dont add up. One time I walk in and theyre selling Coke, the next theyre peddling Pepsi to me, and the next they refuse to serve me anything but obscure Mexican soda that suspiciously appears to not be Gluten-Free. On two separate occasions, Ive tried to have deep conversations with my good friend whom I love and trust very deeply in Village Fare, only to be interrupted by the entrance of some hooligans or my exs ex, who is very annoying!! Every time I eat pizza from Village Fare, I am more and more convinced that they make their dough out of sponges. +1 star for the mozerella sticks, though. I had one once. It was very good.

Just had a fish sandwich!!!! Awful!!! Just Awful!!!!! Fish was soooo thin, and barely noticeable!! . Taste like a very inexpensive, frozen type of fish!!!! Disgusting!!!! The bread was also awful,.. The Roll was bigger then the fish piece, lol not to mention the bread wasnt a good quality.!!! Taste like old stale bread!!!! SMH They shouldnt be allow to serve this!

This restaurant is great with friendly service. LOTS of variety and delicious American food for a cheap price. Ive been going here for years and have to say it is definitely ranks up top. My favorite dish has got to be the Steak and Cheese sub on a toasted bun slathered with mayo - definitely a must try. The recently added televisions are also a plus.

There are plenty of options for casual pizza in Brookline Village, and in my opinion, Village Fare has the best pizza and the friendliest service. Its just a few people working, but they are always fast. Great pizza pies and cheesesteaks. This is a walk-in for me, I have never had delivery from them.

I was there a couple times and always got sick after eating there. Its not really looking clean. Last time i ordered gyro and got some old ground beef. Never again. Thank you for wasting my money.

Theyve changed ownership - and its now much better. Great (a little greasy) peperoni / sausage pizza and awesome calzone with tons of home-made sauce. Fast delivery.

This place has soggy pizza, a dirty store front and often puts garbage menus in our local buildings. Help put this junk food store in Alston, where it belongs.

Food didnt taste good, onion rings were way too expensive, 4 dollars for 1 plate? Get me out of here.
