I had the Ben Franklin burger which was put together very nicely. Very tasty and I enjoyed it almost very much. I guess I was expecting a bit more from a very cool spot like this. My wife had the cheese nachos and I gotta say I was a bit disappointed with it. They tasted a little better than nachos I would buy from a Toco Bell or something. Now as for the oysters, they were on point. Very satisfied with the fresh oyster we ordered. Had me craving more later on that night. The Green Dragon Tavern itself was a cool spot to eat. Very cozy and warm with a wonderful mix of people. I loved the old rustic feel and look of the interior decor. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. Im giving this place a four star not because of the food but because of the service and its historicalness. Eating in a historical place like this felt very special being that this was the very spot where the Sons of Liberty met up to go over their plans and whatever they went over back than. They met up so much here that its called the Headquarters to the American Revolution. That alone is enough to pay the Green Dragon a visit.

I liked it, but to all believing this is the original Green Dragon Tavern where the Revolutionary War heroes met, ITS NOT. That Green Dragon Tavern was on UNION street and demolished in the 1800s. This Green Dragon, as far as I know, is the same as any Chinese restaurant called Green Dragon, that is, that it has no real connection to the historical Green Dragon Tavern on Union street, except the name. This pub may play homage to the original Green Tavern, but it shouldnt claim to be it. As a pub, its of good quality for the price, not bad yet not exquisite, but it does have a lot of Boston character. The cover bands playing were very good. I had a good time there, but I felt bad for the non-pub-going tourists forking out money there only because they thought they were in a historical pub, when they were just in a standard good pub with a historical name. So enjoy it because of its current character, not its supposed past.

Would love to tell you about this place, as a local guide visiting from another city, but my co-workers and I werent let in by the man you see here. Now, I know what youre thinking, we were drunk, right? Youd be wrong. We were essentially sober. Were all well of age, just from out of state. So whats the problem? We dont know. He looked at my license for a split second, looked at my eyes, pointed at his and said "no, not getting in, go somewhere else." Sure, we walked right across the street and went to Bell in Hand. The bouncer there didnt seem to have any problems. Neither did any of the other bars we went to after. This guy was just having a little power trip and it was cute. All they did was lose our business. Im planning a trip to Boston later this year. I loved the city. I wont be coming back here or recommending anyone to come back here. Sorry guys. Youre not the oldest bar either. Quit lying to everyone.

The food here is some of the best Ive ever had! The lobster is AWSOME! The Boston creme pie is EVEN BETTER, because the owners wife makes it HERSELF!!! Im rich, I live in LA, and I fly to The Green Dragon Tavern every single day on my private jet just to have lunch there!!! Thats 6 HOURS of flying every day just so I can have lunch at a tiny little place in Boston!!!! But, I have to say, my favorite thing about The GreenDragon Tavern, is the history!!! I wont tell you everything about its history, so youll have to go there yourself to find out.

$5 cover charge to rock it out with a live band every single night!!! Like most bars/pub/taverns in these Boston alleys, you find yourself in a regular looking bar and restaurant by day, and a music hall by night. And this is one reason why I like Boston so much. It doesnt look so pretty after some odd hours into the night once the band starts playing when you have HUNDREDS of people coming in and out.

Awesome crew, very professional shift manager (the day I went was Friday after 6 pm). Pefect team work and fast service on a bussy evening. Costumers were happy and the atmosphere was always cheerful. They have a very large variety of beers both on tap and bottled. I saw the bardtenders making tons of drinks and they looked awesome. I didnt eat but the food smelled great. I would love to come back!

Came here for St Patricks day and it was AWESOME! Only a $10 cover and we got live Irish music and great service on top of great drinks. Im from Ohio so Im used to bars that stay open til 2 and that is what drew me here initially. I was in Boston for 5 days and I came here for 3 of those, if that counts for anything. Cant say enough good things so Ill just say you need to come here for yourself.

Walking around boston and looking for something that is true to form, not overly priced, and feels like you stepped back into culture....this is your place. Oysters on the half shell for $1 a pop, great chowder, mussels that I am still drooling over the next day. Wish they served beer in the proper glasses...but that is just a minor detail.

The food was delicious and we didnt have to wait long to get served. But after finishing our lunch we were friendly "kicked out" when the plate of one of us was removed before everyone finished their meal and then promptly were handed the bill without being asked if we would like to order anything else (btw the deserts sounded great).

This was a nice place to visit for some drinks and food. My bff and I mainly came here for food because we were venturing Boston the whole day and decided to have dinner here. We had amazing burgers. I had the Patriots Favorite which was absolutely delish! The ambience was great and band that was playing kept a good/happy vibe!

If you like this type of place youll love this place. If you dont like this type of place, you wont. Its old and somewhat run down, but its a really old bar! Its enjoyable just due to that fact. It feels historic and that is a reason to sit at the bar and wonder at the fact. All the bars down here are cool in this aspect.

We had Lobster and the Seafood Scampi plate and it was half the price as next doors Union Oyster House and every bit as good. House band was great, perfect for the clientele and the pub is perfect if you want to think youre back in the day sipping at the bar with Paul Revere and the Redcoats. Highly recommend this place.

The little Napoleon syndrome security guard got angry because my friends and I didnt want to go in the bar after the other guard told us it was a $5 cover charge. He tried saying we had fake IDs (at nearing to 30 this was a surprise) and wouldnt let us leave until he scrutinized our IDs more.

The bartender changed the price of a vodka cran depending on whether I or my girlfriend ordered it. When I confronted the bartender on the issue he denied it. I didnt tip him as a result and he threatened to kick us out. Great atmosphere and fantastic selection of beers. HORRIBLE staff.
