The reviews speak for themselves!!! We were there with a bunch of friends on a Friday night and while it wasnt that busy, we ended up paying twice for the same drink mistakenly. Once with a credit card and another was cash. I contacted them the next day to explain what was going on and had to deal with Sharon (she introduced herself as the manager). First she made all this fuss about being busy and I should call her back. Then when I finally got a hold of her, she said that she cant confirm anything until she checks the "cameras" to confirm what I was saying and she would call me back. She also had access to our credit card numbers. A week later and I didnt hear back. So I called and was told that she couldnt tell from the cameras so sorry she cant refund me. Conclusion: A bunch of Irish thugs run this crappy piece of junk in downtown. The place is overrated and over priced. The staff are rude and unprofessional. Skip it. Oh and it wasnt hard to get my money back. A call to the credit card company and I was refunded. Shame on you for stealing from people.

I consider myself Bostonian living in BH and generally not high maintenance, for I worked in the industry for years and appreciate all people have to deal with to say the least. I have gone to your establishment multiple times and absolutely loved the service for various events. Its in extreme poor taste that someone you consider to be your GM Paul Mcmenamin...that when I asked for his managers name I was told "Marty Walsh" and he walked away. Keep in mind this was a patron entering your doors for potentially the first time. I immediately left with my party (some of which were a part of a surprise party event at your establishment). I left your establishment without even ordering a drink because I was so turned off by the basic courtesy of your employees. As I left your "hostess" proceeded to yell dont come back b"$. I will never, go back here as a result and I think it is pretty terrible to treat anyone this way especially people that are supposed to represent your brand.

Went to this bar last night and found myself surrounded by some of the most disrespectful staff that I have ever encountered in Boston. No matter where you stood, you were not only told to move, but were also pushed and shoved. When I asked to not be pushed, I was told that I would be kicked out. Fast forward to an hour later, the same bouncer and all his friends decide to take a beer from my friend (who was barely intoxicated), put him in a chock hold and tackled him to the floor. He left with a ripped shirt along with bruises and scratches. I have been to many bars throughout Boston and have never been treated so poorly. If you all see a little guy with glasses, run the other direction. He is the worst out of all of them and deserves to be fired. They are all power hungry assholes. I would never recommend this bar to a single person and will never return.

This is what happens when you let a bunch of kids run a restaurant. We were told 25 minute wait, waited 40 minutes only to see a group of teens get sat at a booth in front of us. When asked they said they called ahead and then we were seated by the door. Later when we called they said they dont take call aheads. It is a shame, the beer selection is good, but the food is terrible, and the people that work here are a bunch of pompous idiots. Rude service and what is to be expected from a bunch of girls running a bar downtown. I would head to Liberty to party or HubPub if looking for a cold one, this place is the absolute pits of Boston and should be avoided at all costs.

I came here tonight and drove all the way to New Jersey. And I was racially profiled. I payed 20 buck to get in and this other black kid I guess snuck in and I paid to get in and some young girl said it was me. When I tried to tell them it wasn’t me they said, they said it want me. I’m so upset. I’ve never been racially profiled before but I was disrespected tonight being one the only African American in there. If you are of any ethnicity, but Caucasian do not go here these people need cultural training. It’s discguating to get treated like this in 2017. I’m thinking of solving this legally.

Weve had great experiences here when it first opened - I particularly liked some of the more adventurous dishes from their old menu. The menu now as it appears seems to be radically dumbed down to satisfy the DTX crowd so its basically a bunch of flatbreads, salads, and burgers. Pro-tip for anyone visiting Boston: it is a very bad sign with the front entrance is staffed with no-neck goons. Out of state drivers licenses will be summarily rejected, and the crowd will be largely composed of suburbanites out on the town for their annual trip to the city.

Arrived on the first day of the Sanrio special with pomponpurin and chococat! The cutest dinner date ever. The place was busy, wait was nearly an hour (got in within 30 minutes), waitors were on top of their game as much as they can be, and food arrives in a timely matter. The best part is asking the manager to sign out adventure book. Not only did she signed it, she got the entire staff to sign it too! Hands down for the crew on Scholars American Bistro and Cocktail Lounge is best.

Not a huge fan of this establishment, not necessarily because of the staff or service, more so for the douchey patrons. Theres usually a pretty long line to get in on Fri and Sat after 10 PM so get there early or get stuck waiting forever. I do like the back upstairs area where you can play pool and is a bit quieter in that bar area. It is kinda expensive for pool from what I remember, but there arent many options in that area soon take what you can get.

Among the multitude of bars and drinking destinations in Boston, Scholars stands out. Between their reasonably priced stiff drinks and their multi-floor two bar design, they have something for those looking for a pleasant conversation on a date or to go out and dance. In the back you can kind several pool tables and some of the cleanest bathrooms youll find in any bar. On a side not, if you are looking for the best Long Island Ice Tea, look no further!

I came on the recommendation of a good friend and industry expert. I too have over a dozen years experience in the industry. I find Scholars to be clean, efficient, the food is tasty, the drinks are good, but could use a little more creativity. The bartenders are very professional but almost cold. Very little personal engagement, even when I was one of 3 people at the bar. Still all in all, an enjoyable experience.

A great spot downtown, the bar tender was extremely attentive (hed start pouring my next Guiness before Id finished the first, and gave the pour the time it deserved.) We just had appetizers but the food was really exceptional, tuna tartare and also some delicious mac and cheese. A great find, definitely positioned as a more upscale bar restaurant but not pretentious. Wasnt packed on a Monday evening.
