This is by far the best Pakistani food Ive ever had. Before you take my word for it let me start you off with some background. My wife, who is Pakistani and is from Lahore, and I love Pakistani dishes! Indian food is great too (yes there is a difference) but Pakistani food is purely delicious. We recently moved to Boston and have been trying out different restaurants around town to add to our extensive experience with the cuisine. We mostly found Indian restaurants, which are great, but Pakistani food just tastes better. For any newcomers to south-Asian cooking, youre probably used to hearing about Indian food. Pakistani food is almost identical so dont be afraid to venture. So on this day we were looking for exceptional Nehari. After searching Google Maps, Mehak was the only restaurant that appeared to be Pakistani, and the only one with 5 stars! So we decided to take the 30 minute train ride to eat. I have to tell you, the food was mouthwateringly good! It was the perfect blend of tastes and spices. It melted in your mouth when you wanted it to and kept you wanting more! The owner was extremely nice, the most accommodating restaurants Ive ever been to. It felt as if he was serving us in his home as his guests. My wife and I left Mehak completely full and satisfied. We got our Nehari and THREE orders of naan; keema, garlic, and regular, for only $20.34! We were so excited that we gave them a large tip. Needless to say, we are absolutely going back, we would like to go everyday but we would eat way too much. We are planning to go back at least once a month, hopefully once a week. We thank you Mehak for giving us the best Pakistani (or Indian) food weve had in America by far! We hope you luck with your business and we will try to spread the word as much as possible, see you soon! I also posted this review on YELP! a few minutes ago. Sorry, didnt want to forget anything.

The restaurant is very clean, service is polite, food is reasonably priced, and location is very convenient. I thought the chapli kebab was a little small for the price they charged for it, although the flavor and texture were good. Nehari was a big disappointment. The portion was small and it seemed to be made with cubed beef instead of the traditional shanks. The gravy tasted off...not bad...but not the way it was supposed to. It was almost like a kadhai gravy with a tomato flavor and red color instead of the silky brown nehari gravy. The worst part was that it didnt come with the garnishes that come with every nehari everywhere: chiles, lime, cilantro, and ginger. When I asked for it, thinking that they didnt bring it because Im a gaura, they brought me a small container of Real Lime Juice and some cubes of ginger. The dish came out with basmati rice, which is kind of weird as youre supposed to eat nehari with naan. I ordered a piece of naan, and it was more like a papad. The entire middle of it was wafer thin and crispy, which isnt good when youre trying to scoop up gravy. The food isnt bad quality, its just not the way its supposed to be.

The food here is amazing! ONLY problem is that the owner does not open up on time as advertised. He tends to come in any time after 12 and at the latest around 1:30pm. So if youre looking to eat lunch, youll need to make sure that he is available by calling in and not get stuck waiting outside until the owner comes. However, the quality of the food is spectacular. The wait is a bit long at times because the chef is the also the waiter most of the time. Other than the opening-business issue and waiting around, his food makes up for it. Which is why he gets 4 stars instead of 5.

Amazing food.. we were looking for halal pakistani food and came across this one and surprisingly it had the most delicious food. We ordered tandoori mix grill, chicken biryani and qeema naan.. and each item was simply delicious. It was a bit spicy.. yes even for us hardcore pakistanis but we loved it. For kids we had to order a side serving of plain white rice to mix with biryani as they cant eat spicy food too much. But all in all a definite 5 star and must visit if ur in town.

We looked for a Pakistani restaurant all over Boston. We kept ending up at Indian restaurants. The food is similar, but Pakistani food has a very different taste. So its totally different in that way. Service was really good. The owner friendly. We had the achari chicken and nihari. Both were really good. I mean above average. The place only takes cash though. Ppl were ordering Biryani left and right. We wanted to try it too but were really full. Best Pakistani food in Boston.

1) They try to pass beef off as lamb. I KNOW WHAT LAMB TASTES LIKE AND IT SURE AS HECK DOESNT GO MOO! The gohst was hard and had a taste as if it sat in the freezer for a long time. Everything else had a thawed taste too. Nothing fresh. 2) Despite our request to have one dish mild, they ignored the request and made it as spicy as the other dishes. 3) The owner came out to remind us twice that he takes cash only. Why twice? What greedy scum!

First of all, this restaurant is not located within central boston. its a 15 minute uber ride outside of financial district in sort of a run down area. Second, staff was kind of rude. Also after the meal, one of the owners told us that the place is CASH ONLY after we ate their meal. Totally unfair as there is not a single sign that says this outside of the restaurant. Food was good, but the terrible service made it overall negetive experience.

Food is just excellent. Its a pretty low key place that doesnt always get a lot of foot traffic, so its run pretty lean in terms of man power at times, but man the food is good! There have been times where Ive received something different than what I ordered for pickup, but you know what, Ive never gotten anything I didnt enjoy or finish, lol. My wife and I always say we need to eat here more. Its always a pleasure.

Pretty good food! Loved the naan and tikka. If you come try the keema naan. The service was nice. The place was nice too, and I would definitely return and recommend. However one of the two downfalls was that a little of the food was undercooked. The other issue was parking, but that is not a big problem, Because there is a park 2 blocks away. Also, check closing times before arriving.

We regularly order take out from Mehak and have also been in a few times. The owner is extremely nice (always remembers us and makes a point to ask about us). The food is AMAZING. Great options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. As a person who has lived in 3 states and has always been on the lookout - If you like Indian/Pakistani food youre missing out until youve been here.
