This place was on our list for a long long time. Now that we have been here, its off our list - for good. Here is a long and short of it: - Dumpling options: really disappointing. We always thought the juicy dumplings were a specialty and there would be lots of other options for dim sum. Not the case. And the juicy dumplings themselves - a major let down. Dry from the outside. The juice inside is just vinegar. And the accompanying dip is even more tart and vinegary than the juice inside. - The rest of the menu is very extensive. So just dont get the hype about dumplings at all (and hence the name of the place is absolutely deceiving) - We got what seemed to be a good entree, to understand what the huge menu had to offer. The Schezuan seafood dish. Supposed to be a spicy, hot dish. Again - very disappointed. Lack of classic schezuan flavors. No heat of any kind. And where were those red schezuan peppercorns?? We werent even compelled to ask for the hot chili oil to make the taste better. A half hearted dish just put together - without any personality or flavors. - And expect to get your check halfway through your meal. So if you decide to try something more, tough luck. - finally, the space inside is absolutely tiny. Anyone who has been to Taiwan Cafe (mind-blowing food btw) has more space inside than this one. So the math was pretty straight forward. Tiny space. A lot of hype. After 5:30pm on weekends - hence = long waits on the Main Street. Result - even more hype!!!!! To those who go here again and again and again and again - good for you all! Please keep doing that. Leave the other places for us. Thank you very much. Which places are better than this one? You think Im gonna disclose? Nope. Please keep standing in the wait. "This place is really good". PS: Gave 2 and not 1 star because - this place definitely has the potential, to be downgraded from 2 to 1 - if and whenever we do decide to go back.

No joke....0 star - Over rated and over hyped! Pros: 1. Many people seem to be willing to wait to get in vs other Asian restaurants near by for some reason. Why? My group and I DONT KNOW, band wagon symptom maybe. Cons: 1. Plenty. Were new in town so we didnt know better. 2. A 15-20 minute wait turned into 55+ wait. 3. Very tight sitting spaces, no elbow room. 4. Unpleasant ambience and dirty. 5. Horrible customer service from beginning to end. 6. Dumplings were ok, not great at all; do a visual check on the actual fillings. 7. Curry chicken had semi cooked potatoes, unexpected sharp pieces of bones in chicken, curry sauce was slimy, yuk! Paid for it but couldnt eat it.....gag. 8. Nasty people providing service with terrible attitudes. 9. I always leave at least 10% for bad sevice but this experience was so bad we couldnt leave anything (0%) here. 2 waitresses almost attacked us on the way out although we explained our displeasure. One of them threw the bill tray at the register while yelling at us in Mandarin language! Embarrassing, but we stood our ground politely. 10. Huge menu which = shortcuts and cheap ingredients. Dont waste your money or time.

Do not recommend and would stay far away. If you are paying cash be careful and count properly because this restaurant will rip you off. Came in by myself and they first sat and made me share a table with 6 other people. Food was average definitely not worth the hype. They dont accept credit cards under $20 so my bill was $14.90. I paid with a $100 bill and they gave me back $58.90. I went to ask about the rest of my change and she acted all confused and started counting the money and handling other peoples bills. Stood there for about 10 minutes and told her what change I should be receiving. She finally gave me the right change but then as I was counting she said something in Chinese and literally snatched it out of my hand and started counting without saying anything to me. I was just shocked at this point. Didnt say anything and just waited as I did not want to make a scene. Finally she gave me my change back didnt apologize and was quite rude. There are a ton of great restaurants in Chinatown, I would stay away from this one.

I was intrigued by the mixed reviews regarding the food, and service. Seemed to be a well publicized Boston establishment. As I was solo, I continued to read the reviews on my cell. I came across some reviews that indicated an element of racism was evident by staff. Hmmm...really? I thought, in this day & age? No way. Sure enough, things added up. No soup spoon, no water, no seeing how food was, then when no doggie bag offered with 1/3 left. Now, you could say it was just poor service, but I looked up, and around, and every else (I was the only Caucasian at that moment.) had these things taken care. Really?, I thought again. Then time pay....I must have said thank you, responded with silence thrice. The food was ok. Nothing to rave about. Plenty of it, I would say. (Beef w string beans and the famous pork dumplings.) However, there certainly wasnt a warm fuzzy feeling as I departed. I know when I am not welcome. Food, Authentic or not, this place was not my thing.

My partner and I were in town for PAX and heard about this place by word-of-mouth. Ive been to a number of places around the country with dumplings, and this was by far one of the best. If I lived in the area, I would be there at least once a week and any time I had an out-of-town visitor, I would take them there. To give you an idea of how good the food is, we went out of our way to eat there twice, when typically I prefer to eat at as many different places as possible when Im on vacation. The prices are also incredibly reasonable. I agree with others that the restaurant is extremely small so be patient and be prepared to wait. If you are willing to share a table with others then you will get seated faster. Dont expect to go with a large group of people and "just grab a table" without much of a wait. As for the service, the food comes out with reasonable timing, but depending on how busy they are it might be hard to put in your order.

The best dumplings in town. Maybe I am not a proper connoisseur of all things smushed inside a wonton wrapper, but they always hit the spot for me. The best spicy tripe and tendon in town. Also one of the few places a whitey like me can order spicy tripe and tendon and not be gawked at like Ive grown a unicorn horn. They have many amazing specialty dishes that go above and beyond just dumplings but honestly, why bother? ALL the dumplings are heavenly. The all of them. I particularly like the "juicy" dumplings or soup dumplings. Whenever I go, I plan on ordering so much food that the server looks at me, raises an eyebrow, and icily enquires if Madame would like a trough. Or they would if the servers did more than bark WHAT YOU WANT at you and hastily throw a teapot down on the table. Hands down, my favorite spot in Chinatown. Lose a star for being epically curmudgeonly but thats probably part of the charm, too.
