I can literally swim in a pool of shadowless duck fries! I gave this place a 4 because I was still craving their fries after I finished my plate. We had ordered regular duck fries and the shadowless ones as well. I was able to tell the difference and I dont know if its because I ate the fries so quickly but they remained golden brown and crispy till my very last bite. The shadowless fries was topped with ground beef and tofu with some greens. They were so tasty and I love the different textures and flavours from the fries and sauce. We also got the peanut butter ramen and it was not good at all. It was too creamy but very bland. It was topped with cucumber, grape halves and peanuts but the dish as a whole was hard to wash down. It was too heavy and the noodles were uncooked for my likely! I had the pork belly baos and it was good. I thought it tasted too much like bbq and wasnt cohesive as a meal. My boyfriend has been here a lot more than me and he loves this place! Especially their seasonal specials! I was super happy with some of the dishes and unhappy with some but I know this place is a hit if you order the right things. The drinks are strong and flavourful. The atmosphere is fun and loud. I would really recommend this place!

This is what makes a difference between a ok dinner and a fantastic culinary experience. Shoju is fussion done at its best. The drunk ass noodles are amazing, the new and improve chicken and waffles is amazing. The pork bao is out of of this world with bbq sauce, jalapenos and fresh scallions...wow i died and went to heaven. One would think that the chef is asian...but i was wrong..he is Irish..go figure. The drink menu is amazing. I jad the thai chile infused vodka with coconut milk and lemon..wow truly unique and it paired well with moat of the spice from all the food he has on the menu. SHOJU is a must havr experience. I am from NYC and i travel to boston just to have his food. If you like hip hop from the 80s and 90s and old karaye movies...this is only adds to the experience. Make sure to have reservations..long lines for those that dont make reservations ahead of time.

Delicious Shiitaki Mushroom Bao ($9) (w/soy-braised mushroom, daikon, rosemary, and a steamed bread far more delicate and less dominating than at Toms Bao Bao); a signature Wu-Tang Tiger Style Ribs ($10) (w/Thai basil, shallots, and a coating of chopped peanuts---simply addictive, practically falling off the bone); excellent Duck Fat Hand-Cut Fries ($6) (w/a nicely balanced Sriracha aioli); a zippy Hitachino Anbai seasonal beer ($12); and a surprising good, super-rich Tres Leches cake (a bargain at $6!) (w/strawberries and strawberry sauce, black caraway seeds). Service was very good. Note the attractive wood sink in the bathroom, but also note there is only one restroom. So be prepared for lines. Trendy, candle-lit vibes.

Shoujo is quite the hidden gem for fantastic fusion food. Definitely orders the fries done in duck fat and get them shadowless. Thats the ones with the mapo tofu on top. Its like the Asian version of poutine. We also really like the chicken and waffles. They are done in Chinese 5 slice for the crispy crust and come with a large Hong Kong style waffle and maple syrup. Absolutely delicious! All the entries and appetizers we have tried so far have been fantastic. This place does a great job. Service has always been excellent the two times we went. Food always came oit quickly. My only complaint is the place is very loud with all the people talking.

SHOJO is the HOTTEST RESTAURANT in CHINA TOWN! Its conveniently located right underneath the China Pearl. This is where the hip, urban Asians hang before the clubs... What makes Shojo special? At there Grand Opening, I found: The atmosphere is artsy, clean, fresh and inviting. The decor features wall murals by local artists. The staff is attentive and make a great first impression. The food is memorably fresh...Duck Buns, Duck Fat Fries, Fish Burgers. The owner is on staff and friendly, greeting all guests personally. After dinner, they ditch the tables & transform into an exclusive club! HINT: Dont pass up any offer to one of their private parties!

They refused to accept an Australian drivers license as ID, claiming that this is state law. This may be the case but it is inconsistent with our experiences of dining out in Massachusetts several times over the last two weeks. Both the server and the manager were unapologetic about being unable to serve us and the manager came across as rude. Im really disappointed as the food looked great and the restaurant was recommended by colleagues. But their decision not to serve a party of 4 clearly middle-aged visitors to this country has cost them our custom and our money and was, to be frank, stupid.

Came here unannounced on a potentially busy Wednesday night. Right off the bat, the hostesses were attentive and sweet, then the waiter was awesome and helpful with our first-timer syndrome; even the drink runner was super nice. They were playin our favorite hip-hop jams so naturally we enjoyed the ambiance, not to mention how they redesigned the place. It used to be a (ghost-town) Thai restaurant for years...never understood how it could manage such prime real-estate?! Last but not least, all of the food is Amazing. If the ribs havent sold out, order them now- theyre not to be missed.

The portions here are tiny and the restaurant is really small and loud. The tables are so small that the plates we ordered wouldnt really fit. We had to keep eating really fast. What we got: Shaved Asian salad Suckling pig bao Duck fat french fries Duck taco Mussels in thai beer broth Cold tea for 2 The service was fast and the bussers cleared our plates very quickly, but its because the tables are so damn small. We paid over $80 that made us feel maybe half full, and nothing that we ordered tasted that great or unique

Stopped here solo during a work trip. Sat at the small bar where I could watch a baby Bruce Lee kick butt on the TV playing old school kung-fu. Ill cut to the chase. Bartender = attentive and helpful, yet laid-back. Exactly as I wanted. I feel like she had a knack for reading the crowd Drinks = Im a beer person and had a good time trying some Japanese IPAs. Selection overall was small, but solid. Food = dreamy. I loved my bao so much. Only con is that I got too full to try the entire menu. Verdict = Go to Shojo!

We came to Boston for the night and decided to eat in Chinatown . The online reviews suggested this place was wonderful. My family and I strongly disagree. We would have been better off ducking into an authentic Chinese place. This "Asian fusion " was terrible. Unless you are desperate for This kind of food , I would say skip this and go for authentic. We had heard they had top rated ramen and hoped to have ramen but it is only served from 11-4. Not a family friendly place, its a very dark & loud atmosphere.

This place is both good and terrible, a pleasant spot for creative cocktails (cucumber ice FTW) and Americanized Asian food (ribs, pork buns and fries) but weighed down by awful customer service. The hostesses were the worst, clueless and rude, the bartenders standoffish and cold and the system they have in place for reservations is an abomination for such a small space. Its a shame that a restaurant with such potential is mired down by such poor hospitality.
