I had high hopes for this place. As ed on the stars and the reviews but it disappointed from the moment I step inside. First there was no menu in sight I only two menus for people to share. After I got a menu placed my order and was told it was going to be 20 to 25. The time came and past and had not been updated on my order as other shuttled in and out with there order. But I figured it was busy (the place also takes orders by phone) and I took that as a sign the food was good. So I continued to wait patiently but then a gentleman came in who must have been a regular the hostess/server knew him by name. She had asked him what did he order he responded by saying the snapper...she made the uh oh face like something was wrong. Two minutes later she comes out with a to go container and he was out the door. Time 6:19 I placed my order @ 5:40. I must have made a face because the hostess/server shortly came over and told me that the snapper was ready they are waiting on the salmon. Rember this fact ibhad to waot oj salmon. Some time passes she comes and offered me a drink...she gets a point for that. I asked how much longer she tells me 5-7 minutes time now 6:30. I then wait another 10 mins and called up for my order. But the order was not right only 2 and not 4 patties I ordered they gave me back my money and gave me an extra desert. I drive home and break out a fork to eat and to my shock the salmon that I waited for was not a fresh piece of salmon it was a frozen prepprtioned piece I could by from any supermarket. Needless to say not it did not taste great not matter how much you try and season it. And for all those who swear by Carribean Flava as the best Jamaican/Carribean food. Check out Peaches Kitchen in DC worth the trip...truly best in the area.

This is actually two reviews in one. The first one I should have written a while ago but I totally forgot until today. The decor of the place is very nice, I appreciate the new technology, and the modern decor. Ive never eaten in the restaurant but the service is nice and recently the gentleman working the afternoon shift made it feel very welcoming. One gentleman realized that he did not complete a customers order leaving out a desert and made it his mission to correct it. He got another staff member to recall the customer before they were able to leave in their car... I personally was impressed. Okay now to the food. First, Im not a caribbean fan but I like the basics and on any given day I will take what I can get. My first visit I thought I would try the jerk wing (something basic and everyone appears to like). Well Halfway through it turned into a disaster. It was about an hour after they opened and I picked up my order. When I got home I realized that some of the pieces were dry. As if they were left overs from the night before and reused the next morning. I was very disappointed because I figured it should have been a simple order. My second time (yesterday) I decided I would order something that would need time to be completed and hopefully not pre-cooked. So I selected the red snapper, steamed. Ive never had this before and I felt it was quite pricey. But it was in fact very tasty. It was spicy (not my personal taste) but I could not stop eating it. The picture I uploaded was in my bowl I placed it in when I got home. It would have been nice if it were sliced before steamed to make it easier on the fork but it was very good. This would have had a better score had the basic items (jerk wings) not have been dried out.

I recently had the misfortune of eating at this establishment. Although the food was expensive and somewhat bland, the real problem was the utter lack of professionalism and ignorant attitude exhibited multiple staff members. Our waitress/counterperson’ was so inept I almost felt sorry for her. Her coworkers were much worse and even down right discriminatory. They even tried to increase the price of our meal AFTER we had eaten to squeeze an extra buck out of us. No wonder I only saw two other customers during the entire hour I was there. Id say more but from the look of it, Caribbean Flava wont be in business for too much longer. I always try to support local business and LOVE Caribbean food but this place was the worst.

I think the owner has her friends writing reviews on here because the service is horrible. I dont know how on earth they have anything more than a one star rating. My coworkers and I used to love the food and we would deal with the service because we liked the food and because it is a small minority business. We were fed up when we went there for lunch one day and the door was locked. The young lady we saw on the inside came and opened the door to tell us that the cook didnt show up and that they were not sure when hed be in. I think that this place has a lot to improve on in terms of organization and professionalism. I would love to patronize this business but I dont have time or money to waste on foolishness.

I forgot to rate Caribbean Flava before. 12/7/14. Attended a catered event at a repast for Mr. Winston A. Fryer. The bartender made some good drinks.. Big UPs to her. The customer service was perfect. They were a little late arriving however, the food made up for the delay. The mac - cheese was so good. I really enjoyed the taste of the spinach and jerk chicken, fish, plantains, curry rice, red beans-rice, vegetable stew, curry chicken. The food was seasoned to perfection, not to much salt or fire hot, just perfect I can eat there everyday if they were close to Baltimore!! Love the food, you have a new customer when Im in PG county. SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!! Im HOOKED!!

Their phone etiquette needs upgraded...I have called this place many times and they never answer the phone. In fact, I have had to make multiple calls just to place an order. When you finally get a live person no apology is giving. This is a shame because their food is good; however, their are way too many choices in the DMV to be chasing a merchant down to take my money. If they want to compete for the long term they must not only improve their responsiveness, but they must also make it a policy that employees shouldnt be eating in front of customers behind the counter when you finally arrive to pick up your much delayed order. Very frustrating!

Great Food... Horrible and mean service. I dont go there anymore. My roommate puts up with their treatment. He decided to go there tonight, because he was starving.. Everyone in the line says the same thing.. Why do they look so mean? Why do they talk so nasty to customers. I recently saw them on Channel 5 news representing Upper Marlboros restaurants.. Totally different demeanor. Ive learned.. I would rather starve then set foot in that place again.. Ok food, terrible service.. Its a ZERO for me..They would have more business if they knew how to act professionally. You can spend ur money anywhere. Why choose here?
