I really wish I could give CD Cafe a high review like many of the others here. I really do. But, I cant. My wife and I had a really poor experience there this evening, just about from top to bottom. Unfortunately, our service was really bad, the food was very forgettable, and just about all of the menu items are overpriced. The burger I ordered was fairly tasteless, and their homemade green goddess sauce that came on it (which Id read was supposed to be amazing) was slathered on the burger to the point where it was dripping everywhere, and it honestly had no real flavor and just seemed to taste like a watered-down ranch sauce anyway. My wife ordered the duck special, which she thought to be way too salty, with a ratatouille side dish that was also very plain, with not much flavor. This dish was definitely not worth the $23 price. I also had asked for a dirty martini with gin, which came out tasting like it was about 60 percent sweet vermouth. After a few polite sips and I almost gagged, I politely asked our waitress if the bartender could at least add a little more gin to help even it out. She unapologetically grabbed my drink without even a sincere "sorry," basically took my drink for a walk around the restaurant, and set it back down in front of me tasting exactly the same as before! No apologies. At the end of the meal I had her clear the drink from my check, but again--without even a sorry. This is server/patron 101. In closing, Im sure this was not a typical experience for many at CD Cafe, but I needed to let you know--its definitely possible. And honestly, the food was really nothing to write home about. Diner beware if youre planning on eating at CD Cafe.

We went here for dinner a few nights ago to celebrate my birthday. Immediately we were greeted and showed a table. Its a small, cozy restaurant that was packed even on a Tuesday night. Although we experienced a small hiccup with one of the servers which might have affected the rating, the prompt reaction from management and the rest of the evening completely made up for it. The drink selection was good, the food was delicious, and the decor was interesting with beautiful paintings all around. I cannot stress enough that the management and service team really do try to make your experience perfect. I know they were not pandering towards us because of my birthday because I never told them until the very end. 100% will go back and recommend.

What a great find in Southern Maryland... Only wish I would have found it sooner!!! I choose the scallop special which was not only delicious with crab topping and a dallop of herbs, it was carefully arranged over delicate zucchini noodles and circled around a perfectly formed center of wild rice.... Excellent presentation and generous portions! Even my petite portion house salad was generous and full of an unexpected combination of wonderful flavors. Kudos to the chef who obviously goes above any beyond to make a great culinary experience. He brings fine dining into a quaint Cafe... Not quite the fine dining atmosphere of a five star restaurant but the CD Cafe earned a five star rating in my book.

This is my favorite local restaurant. The owner is sweet, the staff is always a joy, the food is fresh and delicious and perfect, and there are frequent unique specials. The atmosphere is amazing. They do not take reservations, however, but while waiting to be seated, the Next Door Lounge shares the same kitchen and has more of the same, but with a more casual setting. I have been to CD Cafe dozens of times and the worst experience Ive ever had there was still wonderful. Save room for dessert. Their keylime pie and creme brulee are masterfully created from scratch and it shows in their top tier quality.

The food was excellent. After having tried Ruddy Duck and Solomons Pier we were ready for some great food after a boat load of mediocracy. We had the Medditerean Flounder Sandwich and the Pancetta Shrimp on Sunday Morning. Having deemed myself a DC Foodie this place will not let you down but the atmosphere will... It was warm and welcoming, but if you judge the place just based on looks you would probably walk out. Its not good for large groups or people that like to talk on their cells during a meal.

BEST RESTURANT ON THE ISLAND! un discovered secret of southern maryland. smal and intimate setting, sometimes it gets a little loud when the place is packed. FOOD IS EXCELLENT!! Never been disapointed with the menu or the high quality of the food. price is moderate for the quality you get. I recommend all my charters go there if i have high end clients. we always eat at cd cafe when we are at solomons..usually excellent. this past weekend we had their special "seared" scallop dish was disappointed...the scallops were not seared and were very soft. the raspberry heath pie also a disappointment...too cold, like it was just thawed from the freezer...would have been much better at room temp. however, my husband had the ruby red trout special and loved it.

The food is some of the best my fiance and I have ever had. Only knocking it down a star because the location is so small so be prepared to wait. Also the food took awhile to come out. I was watching the kitchen, it appeared the line cooks were young people who hated their jobs. One girl was slapping the table as she took each paper with the next order and would swing her head back in disgust.

This is probably my favorite placed to eat in Calvert. I think I could eat there for lunch and dinner for a week or two straight and not have the same thing twice, the menu is that good. Its where a good friend and I celebrate our birthdays every year. All time favorite~ curried chicken salad in a pita wrap with their house salad. Amazing!!

Our favorite restaurant in Solomons Island. We have been coming for years and are never disappointed. It is worth the wait because they do not take reservations, but you can have a drink in their back lounge until you are called. The desserts are delicious and homemade so save some room. You will not be disappointed at the CD Cafe.

Food was not that great for the price. Service was terrible. The server took forever checked on us twice. We waited over 30 minutes for our check, we ended up getting up to go to the bar to ask for the check. Should not have had to do that. I will never return nor will I recommend this place.

So far we have eaten here twice and both experiences were fantastic. The food is absolutely delicious. The chefs are quite talented at combining just the right flavors to make each bite amazing We are here for 3 more days and I wouldnt be surprised if we go back each day.
