I have previously liked to go here for the Filet Mignon. My last steak here was ordered medium. There was no pink color inside the meat, and the meat was so tough I had great difficulty in cutting it with a large steak knife. I do NOT like sending meat back to kitchens/cooks. Yet the waitress agreed the steak was not cooked "medium," and offered to kindly have the cook make another steak. She also volunteered that if I was not happy with the second steak that the Manager had been present in the kitchen when the waitress spoke to the cook re: the first steak, and that the meal would be removed from my final bill. The second steak was as poorly made, if not worse, than the first, and the meat was equally difficult to cut through. The waitress apologized. Yet when the bill came, only half the meal was removed, because I had consumed the salad and side dishes while the steaks were being made and re cooked. I explained to the waitress that I was so hungry I ate what she left when she took the steak. She stated that the Manager would only remove a prorated amount from my bill because I ate some of the food brought out. I wanted to continue to address this with the Manager. However, I was accompanied by a friend who was paying and wished to just pay and leave. I will NOT return...which is very disappointing.

I have been a customer of the Hideaway for 15 years, and have never experienced the service to be so poor as it has become in the past few months. Our past several to-go orders were not prepared properly, and were not prepared within the time promised (about 30 minutes off). This was not desired, but O.K. because I live here and expect this in the summer months. Tonight, however, has strongly changed my opinion of this restaurant. While my spouse and I were waiting for our table (we had reservations), we were talked to very rudely by three different teenage wait staffers on three separate occasions (within 15 minutes). This was very *smart mouthed*, rude, "in-your-face" confrontational teenage attitude. It was so blatant, it seemed clear that this type of treatment of customers has occurred before. While we had reservations, we were not seated promptly, and with the rude behavior we experienced, we chose to leave rather than spend our money for dinner there. I live in Mount Gretna and can walk to the Hideaway, and I will not be returning until I know that there has been a change in service attitude. I certainly do not recommend the drive here to be treated so poorly.

When I called to make a reservation they got us in promptly. We were excited to go to the well known restaurant, unfortunately we were less than impressed! After we ordered our food came out in about 10 minutes which is normal time. Then we started eating our dishes, how unimpressed we were with everything! On vacation, you want a good fun time with good food. This fell completely short! My Hawaiian stir fry was a horrible glaze flavor and the rice was mush and my husband had seen they had Cajun Alfredo on the menu and had this before somewhere else and really enjoyed this. Well, it was a disappointment to say the least! Just noodles and a few pieces of chicken, might I add for $19. A total waste of $77 dollars and time! I also told our waitress that my meal did not taste good at all and the rice was mush. She asked if I would like something else and I got a side salad and grilled chicken and was still charged the full $17 for my meal. Ridiculous!! We will never return here again and will pass the word along!

Servers were very friendly and welcoming, didnt wait long at all to be seated. Was here for my birthday dinner today , and was extremely dissapointed, I ordered the Hawaiian stir fry shrimp steak and chicken. The chicken and steak had no flavor what so ever and were both very bland and dry. The shrimp was yummy, but too only enjoy 4 pieces out of a 22 dollar meal is ridiculous. My wife had ordered the parmesan chicken, it looked and tasted like a terrible microwavable meal from Wal-Mart. My son had gotten grilled cheese and fries, the fries were terrible, as if they unfroze them and threw them in the microwave. I will never be returning to this place again for a meal. This was also not the first time I have been very dissapointed by this place, please do not eat here and expect good food, its cafeteria quality in my opinion!

We went Labor Day and were in a great mood .Then we met a rude and arrogant host .He sat us at the very back of the patio .The place was EMPTY ! The plastic lawn chairs were wobbly !All the waitresses had on short-shorts .We waited on appetizers for 30 minutes .The food was TERRIBLE!!! The Buns were hockey pucks ,Shrimp was highly seasoned and got only a couple of them Thank God ,Crab cakes were small ,Fries burnt ,and the waitress must have went home .After a 1 1/2 she comes with the bill .The salt and Pepper shakers were Nasty too !I dont think they WASH them! In the parking lot I had to navigate cardboard boxes the staff was throwing around .Was I at the Dump .Yes I was .For better food go to the JIGGER SHOP . IT WAS PACKED!!!!!!!

Ive been going to the Hideaway for years. The food and service used to be 5 stars. Large menu and everything was great. Never had a bad meal. They used to have amazing burgers and seafood. We became such regulars the knew our orders before we sat down. Then ithe had a fire and got new owners and went down hill. It has great ambiance and nice beer selection, but then menu is now not as good and food its great. They either need a new cook, menu or something.

We sincerely love this place. We live in Elizabethtown, and will drive to The Hideaway for a dinner that makes us feel like were on vacation. Weve found the food to be very very good, and the wait staff attentive and friendly. We bring our son (2 years old) and he enjoys looking at the fire trucks across the way while were waiting. Concerning the fire station across the street- when the alarm sounds, duck and cover! Its loud! But short lived.

Ive only been here during Mt Gretnas off-season. This place is fantastic! Ive dined at the bar on several occasions and once in the dining area. The locals at the bar are friendly and welcoming, and the dining area provides a quieter, rustic ambiance. The bar tenders and wait staff are attentive and professional. My coworker was so impressed during our last visit, he asked for the manager to compliment the service and food.

Nice place, great atmosphere, but $30 for 4 draft beers will make you want hide your wallet! Food was good, waitress started off great with us and then disappeared for over a half an hour only to come back and hurry us out there. Just because of the beer pricing alone, we probably will not be back. Places like this take it too far charging like this for draft beer. I can buy a case of what we drank for close to that price.
