We first discovered La Vignola in 1988, a tiny little family Italian carryout in the old downtown Rockville. The large frozen dinners were healthy, delicious and homemade and easily fed 2 for 2 nights at a reasonable price. This wonderful place created our romantic dinners for two, (carryout since we had 3 small kids under 5). Then they expanded their carryout deli to include a busy small restaurant. But, when Rockville remodeled itself and raised its rents, all the little shops left and we lost our Italian getaway. They tried to reopen across from Wintergreen, but it didn’t last and I never thought I’d taste those delicious dishes again. Amazingly, I found them just a few days ago. Now called Vignola Gourmet, they are located across the parking lot from Katz’s / Koshermart / Moti’s Market, on Boiling Brook Pkwy. They have the same dinners, use the same recipes, with the same wholesome ingredients, at a great price. For just $12, you can buy 2 1/2 lbs of Zuccini or Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken or Meat Lasagne, Spinach Cannelloni, Vegetable Lasagna and many other frozen dinners, all delicious. Stored in a huge freezer, just find your piece of Italy and take it home. They are catering and carryout only. Four generations begun by Arturo and Irene, then Luciano and Alma, and now Giovanni and Ashley, with his nephew Biago, have made this a place to enjoy real Italian food.

I was excited about trying this place out since I just got braces and needed something soft and easy to eat. The service was quick and pleasant. The place is nice and small, very cozy. My only concern was the amount of grease my food had. By the photos, youll understand. I think this amounted to a tiny cup of grease. Ill make this short...it wasnt the best meal ever.

Good place. Great when compared to its competition (which is ...?). Good subs, meals, mozzarella, and nice staff. I have had better, but not that much better, not in this area, and this place is consistently good, I wish I had a 50 person event to have them cater.

This is a tiny hidden gem. Excellent prepared foods to reheat at your convenience plus a serving hot food bar with plenty of delicious food options. Also a good variety (small) of quality Italian ingredients. They cater for large events too. High quality!

Phenomenal! Just got a well over footlong eggplant parm sub from them. Quick, and one of the best Ive ever had. Definitely going back in the near future.
