I normally dont review places, doing this because I was Googling the address to give to someone and came across some reviews that had me a little surprised I agree with some of the negative reviews about slowness and looks. This place is not for everyone. Its essentially a couple of grandmas cooking to order in what looks like a home kitchen. So its slow (and i mean SLOW). And it tends to be spicier than the average American palate. And the place looks kind of run-down. So yeah, its not for those who prefer the "ambiance" of a fancier place. However, It definitely IS a place for people who value the quality of food over everything else... Because its a couple of grandmas making your meal from scratch, to order. Because its authentic. Because its delicious. And because its ridiculously cheap. I cant make any sense of the reviewers who criticized the food. Youll notice that the vast majority give it a 4 or a 5, and then theres these random people who give it a 1. The only thing I can conclude is that these 1-star reviews are either a. from proprietors of other nearby Indian restaurants who want to peg down this places ratings to make their places more attractive to new customers or else b. they have an expectation that Indian food taste a certain way and are surprised that even the dishes they thought they knew can be prepared differently in different regions

If you love south indian vegetarian food - dosa, sambar, pani puri, chana masala and so on, it can be hard to come by, (most Indian places are more north Indian in style and dont have these things) but Pavan provides! My mother-in-law cooks all this stuff, so I normally get the good stuff at her home in spades, but Pavan is the next best thing: a family-run place with ample seating and delicious, hot off the grill dosa and so on. The flavor and crunch of the pani puri were excellent, the dosa just perfect. I havent even tried anything else. The only down side I found was the chai masala was a bit weak in flavor. With this place and some other nearby ethnic food offerings, Parkville is the place to go and Pavan at the top of the list.

I havent eaten at the restaurant, but I love the store. I dont know why anyone would bother to buy spices (at least the ones they offer here) at a regular grocery store when you have a place like this around. I just bought a 7oz bag of sesame seeds for less than I had seen the little 1.5oz bottle at the grocery store. And thats just one example. In addition to Indian specific spices like turmeric and garam masala, you can get peppercorns, bay leaves, chilies and chili powder, mustard seeds, cumin, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and other wonderful smelling things I didnt even recognize. No problems here for me.

Under Priced. Friendly. Delicious. Went with family. Man that greeted us was friendly and helpful in guiding us through the menu. Not sure if people who eat the cusine regularly are the best in judging how spicy something is. Almost everything I got was spicy but I pushed through because it was sooo good. Everything is under $15, I hope they are making a substantial profit because they deserve to. We will probably become regulars. Hope to learn about the culture during my future visits.

Delicious home-made Gujarati vegetarian food. Friendly service and reasonable prices make this family-run restaurant a great spot for lovers of Indian cuisine. A simple establishment in the back of an small Indian grocery store, it feels like you are eating in the familys home. A small buffet is available on weekends. I recommend the Thali if you want to sample a 4-5 course meal for $11.00. Get some Masala Chai after your meal to complete your visit.

Nice vegetarian LOW KEY restaurant. A no-frills eatery. Go there only for the food and not the usual pomp and show of other big buffets. I love the food. Everything has a homemade touch! The phuklas are fresh off the stove (ghee on request) !!! Excellent excellent chat varieties. Wish this was closer to home, so Id be a regular. The buffet is small but economical (~$9). Includes fryums, papad and jalebi !!!

Im completely baffled by Andreas description below. This place is wonderful! The food is inexpensive, flavorful and filling. It is very authentic, and a rare gem to find in Parkville. I cant align Andreas description with what Ive experienced there, and Ive visited numerous times. Pavan is wonderful!!

Awful service with equally disgusting food. Has no idea what an Indian chaat should look and taste like. This was easily the worst food that I have ever eaten in my life. A waste of time and money. This place should be closed down, as they have no idea how Indian food should be cooked and served.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. A nice veg restaurant for fans of indian food. The Dhokla was delicious!!! Also the prices are very very low. Many restaurants will charge 11-14 dollars an entree, at Pavan we could purchase an entire plat of dhokla for 4 dollars. Highly Recommended.

Curries, fried rice, parathas, samosa, kachori are good. Chapatis (whole wheat bread) is the best. Paneer pakoda is good too. Little grocery options. Family run so their food is authentic. They are from Gujrat, India. Buffet is good too.

So glad to finally find an awesome Indian restaurant in Baltimore, and glad that its nearby. Everything we had was fantastic, though it can be a little spicy for our 4 year old. That said, cant recommend this place more!

I also love this place, after driving to Pasadena for Indian cooking supplies it was a welcome find. I am still trying to find the "Mothers Recipe" seasoning mixes that nobody seems to carry anymore... ideas anyone?

Absolutely love the food! And you simply cant beat the price. Theyre fresh selection in the grocery department is not great but the price is more than make up for it. They even make their own ghee.

Kitchen staff needs hairs nets and gloves, stop playing with the hair in the kitchen, unfriendly waiting staff specially if you are not Indian. Ill take my money somewhere else....

Great customer service. They can very much make anything without onion and garlic. Definitely a place to visit for fresh Indian food. Specially if you are Jain / Swaminarayan.

One of my favorite places to eat, hands down. Everything here is such a good value. The best Masala Dosa I have ever eaten. Total hole-in-the-wall, by the way.
