The Manor Tavern is 2 minutes from our home and I have been going there since my 20s (turned 41 yesterday) and we have been really enjoying eating here since the new owners bought it. We went here for my birthday yesterday and our meal was amazing! We ordered the Angels on horseback, Kale chips and truffle fries for appetizers. The oysters were tender and lightly breaded with just the right amount of spices, not too salty, really good. I was the only one who enjoyed the Kale chips, but my son 7, did at least try them. Loved the sweet chili pepper sauce that the came with too. The truffle fries were a hit with all four of us, so delicious! Knowing that they grow everything fresh, in their garden right outside the restaurant, I never miss the chance to order something with veggies. I ordered the grilled romaine with root vegetables, crumbled feta, sunflowers seeds and fig dressing. Let me say that it is a whole head of romaine cut in half so this is a meal in and of itself. It was perfect! The carrots and beets were roasted perfectly and feta was so fresh and creamy. I couldnt eat the other half and of course I brought it home and it was breakfast this morning ;-). Our kids got the salmon and mini manor burger and they were very happy with their meals because we didnt hear a word from them due to lots of chewing and not much talking. My husband ordered the Gunpowder Bison burger and it was of course, just fabulous. Gunpowder Bison is also right up the road from us and buy from them a lot as well. In fact if I were going to eat a burger ( I do on occasion) I would rather have Bison, it tastes like a beef burger but it is lower in fat and calories and higher in nutrients. Make sure you buy from a local farmer though, much of the Bison they sell in grocery stores were fed on feedlots. The service is always great the only thing I would spruce up is the décor. It is a little stale with the dried flowers and paint should be lightened up, the buttery yellow just doesnt work. So glad "the Tavern" has incorporated all of this fresh, local food into its menu. If you are a "foodie" you will love this place. Very memorable birthday meal, we will be back. Perhaps this week end :-) -Rebekah DeLibro

Where to begin? Everyone tells you, “something always goes wrong on your wedding day,” but our wedding day was absolutely perfect -- in large part to Manor Tavern’s catering. Terry worked with us from the very beginning to understand our vibe and theme and create something better than we could have imagined. Catering an outdoor wedding with no kitchen on site is not easy, but the food was spectacular -- especially the crab balls. More impressive was the service day of. The team was so pleasant and created a beautiful display for our “fancy picnic” theme on our cousin’s farm. The team all looked great in crisp plaid shirts and jeans matching our laid back feel. Though we never actually went up to the bar, my husband and I were never without a drink in our hands. Several guests came up to us at the end of the night saying it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to and how impressed they were with the entire catering staff. The day after, we were overjoyed to see that the staff had cleaned everything up allowing us to take it easy. If we ever have an event in the area again, using Manor Tavern is a no-brainer. (We also enjoyed stopping by the restaurant for lunch and dinner during all the months of prep.)

What a mess. The foyer rug is dirtier than the rug in my tack room. Staff at the front door continued their private conversation until I said, "pardon me." I watched an elderly couple struggle to get through the front door with canes. The staff did nothing. I stepped forward and helped them. I went to the bar to wait for my dinner companion. We had one drink served in a jar and a appetizer of mushy crab dip and cold toast. When we were ready to go to our table, we were told to carry our appetizer and drinks ourselves. The wait staff looked shabby and very casual like they were working a crab deck somewhere. Our waitress was nice but obviously untrained as she blundered through the specials. We had what looked like a crab cake and scallops that were under cooked on the inside. Surrounding tables were unbused and there was a big spider web above the fireplace were we were seated. And if thats not unpleasant enough, the place was so hot both of us had beads of sweat on our faces. The occasion was a business meeting we did not get to it. We just wanted to get out of there. I will not be going back. Also. prices were high for the bland, poorly prepared food.

Came in with my father for an early dinner one weekday last fall. We were greeted by the young female hostess that was as pleasant as she was attractive. Then she had us follow the male host to our table, outside (which we had requested) but then when we got there I saw it was deserted so I asked to instead sit inside. He rolled his eyes and did the body language equivalent of "you stupid idiot make up your mind!" It was unmistakable, I had to ask "Is that a problem?". He gave me a purposely fake "whatever" smile and brought us inside. My father and I could not believe it. It was as if I reminded him of someone that beat him up for being gay. Or maybe we didnt look GQ enough. I could care less about someones orientation and I was in no way disrespectful, but the managers should know they hired this guy with a big attitude or moody at best, that would attempt to drag a couple of patrons into his little temper problem.

I dont know when the earlier reviewers dined at the Tavern but as of yesterday (Dec.28, 2011) at lunchtime, it is top notch. We were warmly welcomed at the front door and immediately shown to our table near a big fireplace that was regularly stoked by Bill, the owner. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The table was set with care. Our waitress, Kristen, couldnt have been more pleasant or helpful. My husband and I both ordered a hearty and delicious beef soup followed by yummy quiche and salad. The fact that we joined a lovely couple only added to the superlative experience. But, wait! I failed to mention the lunch was topped with a mouthwatering rich and creamy fudge pie, a la mode! With snowflakes lightly falling outside, the warmth and attention to detail in this inviting old tavern made for a perfect afternoon! Thank you for the opportunity to share this notable experience!

I had a birthday luncheon in the Saddle Room, and everything was perfect. The week prior had been hectic, and plans had to be changed at the last moment. Terry, the banquet manager, was great - always cheerful, always helpful. The prime rib was delicious, and everyone loved the tortellini and the chicken. There was a fireplace had a nice fire, and the two servers were perfect: attentive without being intrusive. On a cold day, the room was warm and inviting. Because some of my family were unable to come due to a last-minute crisis, Im planning a second one for them later in the month. I cant think of a nicer place, and its location in the country makes it easy (traffic-free) to get there, and parking is convenient, easy, and free. To me, The Manor Tavern lacks nothing.
