Moved to the area about nine months ago and ordered take out. It was terrible. Decided to give it another chance last night and it was just as bad. The combination Fried rice was basically a white rice with a little soy sauce to give it very little color and it was bland with no flavor. The General Tsos Chicken came with two pieces of Broccoli and six pieces of chicken. The sauce for it was a brown sauce and was bitter with way to much Ginger. The sauce for General Tsos is supposed to be a dark red sauce that is spicy and sweet and have little peppers in it. The chicken is supposed to be crispy. Without a doubt the worst Chinese Restaurant on the East Coast. I gave it a one star only because there wasnt a no star category. They definitely need to get a new chef.

Good business has good food! Hunan Star, an authentic Chinese resturant known for its well priced lunch buffet, has recently expanded to include a beautifully designed sushi bar that has all of your favorites and features flavorful special rolls designed in house by their talented asian chefs. I am enjoying their Hunan Star roll for lunch which uniquely wrapped in soybean paper! If you ever find yourself traveling between DC and southern VA by way of 301 hwy then stop in and treat yourself to quality food, a warm atmosphere, and an attentive staff that values return guests (I was given a Ramune today from the manager)! And yes, I did post this review on Yelp :) Gave them 5 stars.

Weve been going here as a family since 1996 and over the years have watched Hunan grow not only in square footage, but also their menu. Very authentic Chinese food, great selections on the menu for everyone. Sue the owner is awesome, she has watched our family grow and its always a pleasure to see her when she is there. The wait staff is great, but if you have a chance, ask for Jay, he is just perfect, you will not go wrong with him.

All around good greasy spoon hole in the wall. I would really recommend going for their sushi, its quite delightful. I find the flavors of a lot of dishes that Ive tried there to be very mild in flavor, but they do hit the spot when youre having a craving. Service is amiable and prices are reasonable. Would recommend

Food selection was very slim. Also the food had barely any taste. Fried rice was plain and so was the lo mein and the eggroll had grease running out of it and the total bill of $39 for me and my wife and my daughter to eat no where worth the money. I will never go back! 1/18/17 6:30pm

Better than most Chinese places in MD, but no where near as good as the places Ive had in NY and NM. Szechuan Garden in Waldorf is the only great chinese in SOMD. China Express (or whatever it is next to the buffet in the Smallwood Plaza) in Waldorf is the best take out in the area.

Nothing special about the place and rather run down looking. The food was basic buffet style, nothing great and despite getting there an hour after opening much of the food looked like it had been sitting out for much longer. However the price is cheap.
