Whelp! My first experience was tasting the 2 meat special and that was the sausage and brisket with 2 sides and cornbread. Lets start with the brisket not being seasoned to perfection or just not seasoned at all and thats just not right. My sides were the greens and Mac. Well the Mac was ok but the greens are out the can with no seasoning and thats just not right. The cornbread is a little too spongy for me where my 2 year old twins wouldnt eat it. Dont get me wrong, Im happy to see Laplata getting a barbecue spot but dont try to trick us like we dont know any better. I really didnt mean to make this a long review but when its more things wrong then right what am I to do. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides of potato salad and just threw it in the trash after tasting it. She didnt expect it to be all pork with no bun...oh sorry! It was the 1 piece and it was the butt of the bread and that aint right. Sheesh....so guess where I will be going this week? To Mission Barbeque to get real barbecue. Not trying to be mean but come on now we waited too long to get less than par.

I heard a lot about this barbecue and was excited to try it, but when I got there, the staff was rude, and the food was cold. The brisket had the grease that hardened into white fat on top of it because it was cold. My coworker said it was great every time she went. I was disappointed.

Quite possibly the best BBQ that Ive eaten in quite a while (since Franklins in Austin). Ordered the (2) meat sampler (brisket and pulled pork). The brisket was tender (not fatty) and the pulled pork was cooked just right. Proprietary sauces ranged from a little sweet to downright hot.

I sampled a few items. Among my favorites were the collard greens, beef brisket and the urban soul rolls. The brisket is amazingly tender. Not fond of the ribs, two-step chili or the BBQ ranch beans. I will be back to try other menu items.

I was excited about trying Urban BBQ but was left rather disappointed.Didnt get the single piece of bread on the pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were ok but the sides and we ordered all the sides on the menu lacked flavor. One and done

Good lunch spot, the sauces were pretty tasty and the chicken was good a good vehicle for them. Good iced tea. One star off for (as a friend described) very dry ribs and also for playing Lux Aeterna on repeat over the speakers.

Good food for the amount. The smoked meats taste like liquid smoke. But overall it is a good food. Plenty of TVs to watch with a small bar in the corner. Oh yeah, tastey Old Dominion Root Beer on tap.

Friendly and helpful staff. They have a full bar and a great menu. The soul roles are a must try. The chilli is out of this world. And Ruth special offers like pajamas day its a fun atmosphere.

Good for La Plata for now. This is a pretty decent place to run in and get a variety of BBQ items and the on tap Dominion Root Beer is awesome. However, this has nothing on Mission BBQ.
