I always ate at the Bon Chon in Ellicott City and when I heard this place was opening in Hanover I was like, "woo hoo!" Now that it is open it is a total disappointment. It takes a lot to get me to write a review either good or bad but Ive ordered from here 4 times already. Everytime Ive ordered the small strips and white rice. Placing the order over the phone always seems like you are bothering them. The first time I ordered they shorted me 1 strip. The last 3 orders the counts were correct but the overall taste of the food is not equivalent to the Bon Chon in E.C. The container size for the rice and pickled turnips are smaller than the E.C. location and they charge you extra if you want more sauce. Even with the traffic consideration, it is a far better choice to go to the Ellicott City Bon Chon until this place gets their act together.

I was quickly seated, and approached within a few minutes by a server. I ordered my full meal at this time, and the meal arrived about 35 minutes later. I ordered their fried chicken...not something Id expect was unusual or something that would take extra prep or digging out special ingredients. The server didnt apologize for the wait until about 20 minutes in, saying "theyre working on it, sorry for the wait." When the food arrived, the server said "Thanks for your patience, I assure you its worth it." Even if it was, this was in the heat of lunch hour...so she didnt have to convince me...she had to convince my boss, who wasnt able to take her word for it. The chicken was well flavored and the breading was crisp and had a cool zing to it. The chicken itself was pretty dry, and some bits of it had the consistency of a crouton.

My family loves Bonchon! We were excited when Bonchon opened in Hanover since we live in Hanover. A couple days ago we wanted to place an order for togo but they said dine in only. Ok... it is understandable we know they just opened not too long ago. Finally we decided to go there and eat. We were happy to see many customers in the restaurant. We ordered calamari rings and its $12.95. We paid $12.95 for frozen calamari rings (had freezer burn) and it did not come with any type of sauce. The waitress said it does not come with any sauce but we can offer ketchup or spicy mayo. So we took the spicy mayo. They charged $1 for that sauce without telling us. Were they going to charge us for ketchup too? We were eating the chickens and fries finally came out after 30 min and it came out cold. I will take my business to Elliott city BC.

Went during their soft opening, so I expected things to be a little rough, but I was pleasantly surprised to be really impressed with the place. I got the chicken katsu, my wife got the chicken poppers and the dumplings. Everything was cooked very well and delicious. I would have liked the katsu sauce to be a bit bolder in flavor, but all around a great meal. Went again after official opening for a to go order. Ordered chicken katsu, pork buns, spicy chicken strips, and chicken wings and legs. Waited 40 minutes. The chicken legs and wings were pretty good, but the strips were toigh and not satisfying. The chicken katsu was a disaster, it didnt come with katsu sauce or rice and was not enjoyable. The bread for the pork buns was good, but nothing else about them was. All around a disappointing experience.

Ive been twice. First time, got a metal chair, uncomfortable and tiny, like a bistro chair and the wait was long. The owner asked most everybody how its going, but me, maybe cause I was by myself, but come on, not even a nod. Got the spicy drumsticks. Delist. Ate all 5. The second time I went, a few weeks later, got a booth. A group of ladys were cracking me up, pardon the pun, but one was putting 2 of the metal chairs together to sit on since they were so small. That didnt work out. This time I tried the half and half drumsticks. Liked the spicy better. First time trying kimchi. Flavor good, but the cabbage kind of slimy, dont know if thats normal. Service was great. My server was attentive and helped me decide something new to try.

When we walked in, the place had a funky smell. The front windows are filthy, the floors are dirty, and our table was sticky. This was about 5 pm on a Monday, so its not like they were just slammed by a dinner rush and didnt have time to clean. The food was just okay. The chicken in the fried rice didnt have much flavor and was very tough. My be bim bop tasted okay, but the rice was basically just steamed - it didnt get the nice crust like Ive had at other restaurants. We also ordered the Korean tacos and they were good. Our waitress was busy, but very attentive and nice. Ill watch the reviews and see if the cleanliness and food quality improves before (if) I return.

My husband and I went on a Saturday it was busy but we did get our food in a timely manner and it was delicious! We had the chicken wings, rice the potstickers and tacos everything was delicious! Also the servers were excellent they really went above and beyond to explain everything to us and to take care of us. I Cant wait to go back again and try some of the other items on the menu if you like spicy you will love this place they also have food that is not spicy we had both. I was told that their fried chicken legs were out of this world. Will definitely be going back again soon!

I love Bonchon, and Im excited that this place opened near me! Ive visited the Bonchons in Ellicott City and Hyattsville frequently, and this one is now up to the standard. Please understand that Korean Fried chicken is double fried, so it usually takes longer to cook than your average fried chicken. I was therefore surprised that the chicken came out hot and fresh in 15 min. The sauce has a candy-like flavor to it and fails to disappoint. Even though the restaurant was not that full on a Monday, they were churning out carry out orders, so theyre able to keep the chicken fresh.

For the price and quality of the chicken wings.......no thank - you. The taste is good but the wings are way to small for the price. When they first opened, the wings were worth it. they were HUGE!!! When we asked, the manager said it was a corporate decision to change the wings. Way to go!!! NOT!!! Customers look for consistency. Keep in mind, he wait for them was long but the tastes was good. Once the store was short staffed so they didnt even serve wings just regular menu items - which was a disappointment

Best chicken strips to be had, spicy or soy garlic. They still dont have their liquor license so no beer but thats fine for to-go. Its pricey for glorified take-out, but akin to what you would pay at any other Korean BBQ dining in, and they have a range of traditional Korean dishes, from tteokbokki to bibimbap to japche and bull dak, edamame and kimchi and pickled radishes. But its all about the fried chicken. Service at this location is friendly and hospitable, and the location is clean.
