I frequent sushi bars and Chinese buffets throughout the area, and throughout the country while traveling. I can honestly say that Chef Lin is one of the best and is the best in its respective class/price range. The sushi is authentic and of a high quality. It goes above what would be expected from a "Chinese" restaurant. The sushi is of a traditional Japanese preparation. All of the standard choices are included along with a few chefs specialties. While the selection is not as great as what would be found at a sushi-specific establishment, they are glad to accommodate special orders. Although it is not commonly pre-made on the bar, I have never left without several servings of masago. The hibachi is on par with most, and they do not object to letting customers add buffet items to their hibachi plates. Grilled steak is available as well, and rivals that of chain-restaurants that specialize in steaks on their buffets. The raw bar is definitely trustworthy. I have frequented this establishment for over ten years now (previously as Dragon Buffet), and have never even had so much as a churning stomach after consuming the raw seafood here. The buffet itself offers several isles with a superb selection. They keep the food stocked and fresh. All of the expected dishes are available, along with many restaurant-specific specials. They offer an American comfort-food selection to calm the woes of picky eaters who would otherwise keep the rest of the family or group from enjoying an Asian meal. A well stocked desert selection (with soft-serve ice cream) and salad bar tops off the experience. They offer free refills on the soft drinks (purchased separately from the buffet) and do keep the glasses full. A selection of American and Asian beers and wines are also available. The employees seem to really appreciate the business that patrons bring, and go out of their way to greet their repeat customers. My only complaint is that the "Ginger Lobster" is no longer available on the buffet. I have been told by the management that they will still gladly prepare this dish with advanced notice. At one point in time, breaded and fried chunks of lobster tail and claw (still in an opened shell) in a sweet and spicy ginger sauce had restaurant patrons loitering in the buffet isle anxiously awaiting the next batch to come out. However, with the quite affordable price of the buffet, it comes as no surprise that guests can no longer gorge on lobster tail. The lack of this dish does not stop me from going back time and time again. Overall, you get more than you pay for when you visit Chef Lin. I highly recommend it, and will be departing for this restaurant momentarily. I am just waiting for my wife to get done preparing herself to go out. -AE

Watch for broken glass in your food!!!!!! Went there this evening for dinner, while working on my second egg roll, I chew into a large piece of white glass. At that moment one of their waitresses was walking by, and I told her and showed her what I have chew into.. She literally grabbed a piece of glass that I had just pulled out of my mouth and walked to her boos and showed it to her... I proceeded to spit ore of the glass and pulled even larger pieces of glass from the egg rool o was having... Several minutes later the waitress was doing her refill walk around and said "so sorry, do you want a discount?" I was like WTF? And showed her the rest of the glass I pulled out from the egg roll.. She took my plate to her boss and showed it to her... About five minutes the boss or manager (you never know) came over to our table and told me "this is an egg shell" I was like seriously" I tried to break that freaking "egg shell" and it wouldnt break. I was like what the f@£€ do they have back there? A freaking dinosaur laying glass eggs? Right after that we got our bill (no discount was applied) .. As if we were being asked to leave. We got up to get dessert and by the time we got back to our table, our drinks were gone and the table was all cleaned up for the next customers... The waitress kept walking around and didnt asked if we needed refills or anything else.. I can see the reason to all the bad reviews for this place.. Funny thing is that they have 4 out of 5 stars here... Ive spread the word around and hopefully keep a few customers save and away from this place..

I love to eat out, My family has eaten in a lot of Buffet style places over the years in MD & PA. Also we have a larger family ; therefore price is always a factor besides taste, healthy and cleanliness. Food was fresh, hot was hot, and cold foods was cold, defiantly not your standard buffet greasy foods. Its was very clean, and the well lets say this "the service" ," many others really should take notes from." Best of all its affordable and theres something for everyone, even the choosiest of eaters. Excellent on having a wide variety of foods to choose from. The environmentally is family friendly. Also like the fact of not being crowded onto one another. PS Im not easy to please when it comes to foods, I hate fast foods all together, but even with my very strict diet I was able to enjoy a very pleasant healthy meal.

DO NOT GO HERE! Upon walking in youll instantly be disappointed at the booth your seated in. Walking through the buffet youll have a hard time finding things that youll want to eat, or that will even come off the tray (really). I understand that its a American Chinese food restaurant, but this was really bad. The fried foods werent crunchy (how do you do this incorrectly), the vegetables were hard like they werent cooked, food that was out and looked ok was obviously old and hard, sushi was thrown together and fell apart in your hands. Oh yeah and looking at the "Hibachi" setup gave me the feeling Id probably get sick if I tried any. The doughnuts were good...

My family has been going since Chef Lins opened. Most of the time all the food is excellent. The less the owners are there the poorer the quality of food. If the owner was rude to you, she had a damn good reason! If they find out a plate or silverware is dirty they apologize, get clean for you and remind the staff to pay better attention when cleaning. The best buffet in Frederick! Most of the wait staff have trouble speaking English. I can see where people may mistake that for being rude but they are not. They are very kind people and if you take the time to talk to them they will welcome you with a big smile every time.

We have eaten here many times and have always found the food excellent. The quantity is almost overwhelming and, surprisingly, always good. Many buffets suffer from too much food and not enough turnover so it gets cold or loses its taste. Not here. The selection is beyond belief and also beyond the ability of any but those with championship appetites. Their price is reasonable and this is one of the best meals available in Frederick. Right off of I-270 after it turns into Rt 15, this is an easy off and easy on for anyone heading north.

Terrible 5 star restaurant my butt everyone that went with us was getting sick the website is a lie it says 11-3:30 its $7 something per person and the manager said that was a long time ago so he gave the person paying the bill $2 to make $7 while everyone else was $9 something and they dont even let u know that it cost money for refills the waitress keep asking what did u have to drink as if the refills were free and then we saw the bill and thought well this is a nice slap in the face.
