Great entrées, quick service, bad salsa. First the positives: - The tacos were very tasty. My wife and I had the steak tacos and they were filled with meat, cilantro, and onion. They were seasoned just right and they were filling. - The place smells terrific. I know that sounds weird, but you can smell what was coming out of the kitchen and it makes you hungry. - The kitchen is very fast. In the time it would take for you to get an appetizer at a restaurant you got your full entrée here at Café Bueno. Flavor was not compromised by the speed of the dish. The downsides: - The mark of a good Mexican restaurant is its salsa. This restaurant has 4 different salsas. However, they are served in ketchup-like bottles, which means the salsas are not thick and chunky. Their standard salsa was watery and didnt have chunks of tomato, onion, or cilantro. The tortilla chips were okay. - The fountain soda was a little flat. Its a very small restaurant. It had the feel of a diner. But on a Friday night at 7 p.m. it was crowded. This is a good place for a quick and tasty meal. Id recommend it for lunch or for takeout.

Wow! What a fabulous find. My family of 5 stopped here on the way back from Harpers Ferry. Tiny cafe in a tiny strip mall in downtown Frederick, we just knew this place was going to be good. The wait staff was kind, attentive and helpful. We ordered, steak quesadilla, azteca burrito, and 2 pork Mexican style tacos. Outstanding. Even something as simple as the pico blew me away. I could have eaten a bowl of that. The rice and beans, which can sometimes be an afterthought, were fantastic; so very full of flavor! The chips were fresh from the fryer. The salsa came in squeeze bottles, thankfully, because I put it on everything. Lastly, my boys and hubs devoured the churros with oohs and ahhs. Having lived in Florida where simple and good Mexican is plentiful, we struggle to find it here, thank you Cafe Bueno for being our new go to when we are in Frederick!

Spending 30 years in San Diego before moving to Frederick, the one thing I missed was a good taco or carne asada burrito. I finally stumbled upon Cafe Bueno and have to give them two thumbs up for making the best Mexican food Ive had in Frederick. Their Mexican style steak tacos are perfect. The carne asada burrito is about a 4 star...it is close but not quite as good as a San Diego burrito. Yet that is pretty much impossible to recreate anywhere but San Diego. Overall, great service and decent food. I think the only concern I have at this place is that the back food prep area does not look all that clean, and the staff does not wear proper hats/nets when prepping food. A little concerning!

Really great food! We went to Cafe Bueno to celebrate my 6 yr olds birthday. Our food came out in decent time even though the place was packed and our waitress was very sweet. She even arranged the churros we ordered as the desert in a special way for my son with a candle and sang happy birthday with us! We ordered the guac, chips, combo fajitas and the 3 taco entree which my son ate 2 tacos from! Not only am I a fan, but my 6 yr old is too and thats saying something! If we werent doing "Dry January" - we wouldve also been taking advantage of the BYOB policy - which is awesome! Well be back soon!

I was blown away! The food was authentic (as far as I could tell and fairly obvious anyway from the Hispanic laborers who were eating heartily), fresh and delicious. I had the special - a seafood enchilada with cream sauce - and it was lovely! The pico de gallo was fresh and tasty. Tortilla chips and salsa were as good as any Ive had (and Im picky.) The closest comparison that I can make is to say that Cafe Bueno is the Mexican equivalent of The Lucky Corner. Yum. Im headed back today for their shrimp fajita salad which people are talking about!

I dont understand the appeal. This place is very popular among my local friends and several are regulars for their lunch. The service is unfriendly and unwilling to customize a burrito that is (presumably) made fresh when offered. The ingredients taste cheap. The beans remind me of the cheapest buy in bulk canned beans I ate when I was in the Navy. The house made sauces are in perpetually dirty containers. The seating is uncomfortable. The tables are always dirty. Maybe thats the charm of it. I dont know.

Simple, quality, friendly, affordable. I had heard great things about Cafe Bueno and finally tried it out. Staff was incredibly warm and friendly, facility was small but clean and lively. Prices are about as affordable as it gets. The food is simple and more traditional. The tacos were fantastic, excellently prepared and delicious. The house made sauces were also great.

My FAVORATE Mexican Restaurant in Frederick! Food is GREAT so is the friendly staff. I love there fish tacos and the lunch buritto with beans and rice on the side is another favorite. Ask IF they have tamales, they dont have them ALL the time like before but when they do try them yum. Ok ONLY thing is WHEN are you going to open up for breakfast again?!

This place is really good. Its a smaller restaurant and has a unique feel. I get the tacos almost every time because they are probably the best in Frederick. Get some extra napkins though, because the shells are fresh and they will be breaking some, so youll probably end up with a some sour cream on your hands, which is A Ok in my book.

I eat here almost every morning for breakfast...one of the only spots in Frederick that sells Scrapple which goes great with the egg and cheese sandwich that I like to get...also pancakes and home fries are absolutely delicious. The chicken tacos (American Style) are great. Highly recommend you try out Café Bueno

Fantastic Mexican food, maybe the best in Frederick. The staff is awesome and the homemade salsas and hot sauces are amazing. I have a theory that you can rate a Mexican restaurant by how edible the rice and beans on the side are and these are amazing. If you want amazing taste and heat try the camerones diabla!

Went here on a Saturday morning. Service was friendly, quick and always kept my cup of coffee full. I ordered the huevos a la mexicana. It wont be the best breakfast youve ever had, but the food was delicious and of good quality.

OMG, Im from CA and this is THE spot for authentic Mexican in Frederick. $10 for fish tacos, they brought 3 HUGE pieces of fish in corn tortillas with an amazing array of salsas. Super-friendly staff and amazing eats! 10 stars!

Bright and cozy inside. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a chorizo quesadilla for carry-out--my wait was short, and they allowed me to put up my business card on the bulletin board near the register.

I cannot understand all of the rave reviews for this place. I got steak tacos once, chicken tacos another. The steak was bland, and the chicken was mostly flavorless. It wasnt bad; it was just really mediocre.

Order their Mexican style tacos if you want real authentic cultural food, or else youre doing it wrong. The salsa and guacamole are homemade, which was also delicious. Best Mexican place in Frederick by far.
