I want to start on the positive. The Chili here is by far the best, most authentic Texas Chili Ive ever had from a restaurant. Akin to my own, you can tell they make small dice of Chuck beef to make this delectable chili treat. Just the right balance of flavor and heat. The texture is amazing and refreshingly Texan. The Brisket was a little dry for my liking, but not dried out. Perfect smoke penetration, great delicate meat shows they cooked it slow for a good while, and the smokiness throughout every bite. The wings are excellent. Good crispy exterior without breading, and the seasoning on the dry rub dusting we opted for was a perfect balance of savory and sweet. The sweet tea was fresh and perfectly sweet. Not too sweet, but definitely not lacking. The ribs were gone by 5:30pm on a warm Saturday night, and I think we got the last ones. They were good. Not great. The last rib of the half rack was akin to beef jerky. Only about a 1/4oz or edible meat on the bone. The two ladies taking care of tables were frequently overheard complaining about how full the half empty restaurant was. Our waitress refilled our glasses once in our 45 minute seated dinner, and somehow forgot when we asked for that refill, to bring the glasses back to us without reprompting her. After repeated beckonings from the food platers, she still ignored them alerting her of waiting plates, so the manager was the one, after 10 minutes of sitting under the heat lamps, that eventually brought our meals. I will return for a bowl of chili on the next cold day, ordered to-go.

I got the Carolina chopped bbq. While I wouldnt say it was really like bbq from nc, (Im from nc and love eastern style bbq...backyard bbq and bullocks in Durham, NC, Lexington BBQ in Lexington, NC) I must say this was absolutely delicious. It was smoked perfectly and not fatty. I would say this is some of the best chopped bbq I have ever had! The sides do not disappoint either.... I had sweet potatoes and my husband got potato salad, both delicious. They also have a decent selection of microbrews (on draft and bottles/cans)...amazing!!! The only problem...its all the way out in Frederick...please put one in the DC area!!!!

We walked in 15 min before closing... chairs were on the tables. We were told the fryers were off because it was near closing, so no fries. If your business is open till a certain time... then be open! Start to close shop, after you are closed! As a small business owner myself, i am able to say that there is absolutely no excuse for bad service!!! Food is decent here (but very expensive), so 2 stars instead of the 1 that i so badly want to give!

Had to edit my review. Used to be our favorite place to drive to on the weekends. But as of 7/24/16 we feel very differently. They have become inconsistent and mistake prone over the past 3-4 months. Different staff etc or something. But we no longer look forward to coming here as much. Weve mentioned things to the manager at times to make him aware and he does care and is trying to make everything consistently great.

We have always liked this place. The food is great and the service is also great. We really like the new full service bar and the bartender, Brandon is terrific! He was extremely attentive and is a true craftsman behind the bar. We also had the pleasure of meeting Cody, the kitchen manager and had some very interesting conversations with both of them. Very sharp gentlemen these young ones....Thanks for everything!

I spent 15 minutes waiting to be acknowledged by a hostess and be seated. We ended up getting a go ahead to sit outdoors, only to wait 15 minutes for the waitress to take a drink order and realize we never got menus. 30 minutes later our orders arrived, cold. The BBQ is okay, but pales in comparison to Mission BBQ or Beach Bully. If the food is going to be mediocre then the service needs to be stellar.

As a big fan of BBQ, I was really excited to try Black Hog. My favorite thing to order is pulled pork so thats what I got. Everything on my plate just tasted ok. Maybe Ive been spoiled by places like Mission, but we just werent feeling it. My daughters chicken tenders were pretty good though.

The loaded BBQ fries are amazing, and even though theyre an appetizer I usually just eat them as my meal. The cornbread is great! both locations are fun and great food and the service has always been good to us. Great place to go for a work lunch.

Black Hog has some outstanding BBQ. I have lived in Kansas City and been to Texas many times. Black Hog is absolutely on the same level as their iconic BBQ joints. Great atmosphere, full bar, great food, decent prices. What else can you ask for?

Always great tasting, great quality, quantity is also enough for my hubby and more than enough for me ... (I can make 2 sandwiches out of one BBQ pork sandwich with the amount of meat). Ribs and brisket are also awesome favorites!!!

Their BBQ is awesome but the price was not. They were also very stingy with the brisket and meats and every time we come here they act like WWII food rationing is in effect. Youll leave here hungry if you buy just an entree.

Good bbq. Great sauces. Great bar. Great service. Only reason i didnt give 5 stars is because I am a bbq chef and conesseur and I thought that the brisket should have been more tender. It was good though, as were the ribs

Went here around 7:30 on a Saturday and were served quickly and the food was absolutely fantastic. I had double smoked beef and a Carolina pork shoulder platter but I wish I couldve tried everything on the menu!

$31.00 for 2 pulled pork sandwiches that taste like 3 day leftovers never again. Even the fries sucked. I wont go back. Take the ride to Chubbies BBQ off 15N for double the food and cheaper. Place is awesome

Great bbq really fast service had my food 5 minutes after ordering and it was delicious servers were honestly a little to helpful but i always had a full drink and they were very polite.

I have had some really good bbq from all corners of the USA. This is as good as any. Try the brisket. Wet and dry styles, it is all good.
