I had a great time here with my friend and our respective girlfriends on a double date. Service was fast and friendly, even my drink never reached the bottom and I go through my beverage very quickly. We split a Sushi Boat #1 for about $80 which included miso, edamame (on the house), little yogurt drinks and the boat itself. The selection was good with the familiar tuna and salmon as well as a handful of less common, but very delicious kinds. The decor and atmosphere were pleasant and clean in the main part of the restaurant, but the bathrooms... not so much. In contrast to the rest of the restaurant, the bathrooms were dingy with filthy trashcans, old corroded hardware on the sink and toilets, mildew set into the tiles on the floor and walls, and so on. I dont think its something that can just be wiped down and polished, the bathrooms need to be brought up to meet the expectations of the rest of the restaurant. Kind of like going to Disney with your kids, having a great time, then seeing Goofy without his head on as youre heading out the gate.

We just love Niko. Back when I was in college, one of my classmates was a waitress here when they first opened! That was about 18 years ago. Many years later I introduced my grad school class to their phenomenal lunch buffet. Nikos "Japanese Lasagna" sushi rolls got me through two pregnancies and grad school. When they closed up shop in Normandy Center, I cried ... many times. Until I discovered, about 2 years later, that they have reopened at the current location on Frederick Road and St. Johns Lane. Same owners who feel like family after all these years. Now both my kids love going as much as my husband and I do. The new location is too small for the lunch buffet - but they said they are working on expanding into the space nextdoor ... so lunch buffet will come back. And in the meantime, I will just keep devouring Japanese lasagna!

I usually meet up here with my husband and some of his work colleagues during lunch for their buffet. They have a good selection of sushi and are very fast at replacing/refilling up the sushi plates at the bar, something that many other sushi buffets Ive been to struggle to accomplish on a regular basis. The ingredients are fresh and even their non-sushi selections are appetizing. The price is quite reasonable (about $13 per person) and I found the staff to be very friendly. Since it tends to get busy very quickly about 15 minutes after they open (at 11:30am), they may take a minute before asking you if youd like to drink anything, but it hasnt happened often to me. Theyre also overall very good at keeping peoples glasses full.

If you looking for a nice cozy sushi restaurant, Niko is the place. With the cool atmosphere around the restaurant, it the best place to enjoy sushi. They have lot of variety of maki sushi & nigiri. And you should ask about their special roll. Personally I like sitting at the bar, because the chefs likes to make something special for customer at the bar. And they have lunch buffet too. For only $10,95 you will get variety of fresh sushi & hot dishes too.

Visited this location for the first time today, and I loved it. I believe this is the same place that was located on Rt. 40 across from the auto dealerships. Anyway, I got the Box B lunch and the quantity of food for the price made it a super good deal. Sushi was fresh and everything tasted outstanding. Everyone was nice, the place was clean. This one is a clear cut 5 star rating. Ill be back for sure.

This place moved and cut down on their menu, and really focuses on doing a few things well. The sushi is amazing. Huge pieces of fish. If you get a platter you will get a wide variety of stuff, so if youre not adventurous just get a few rolls of what you like. The tempura is also extremely good. The rest of the menu is hit or miss, but the sushi earns the five star rating.

This place used to be located in Normandy Shopping center which has since been converted to other uses. Now at St Johns Lane and Frederick Rd, it still has many of the same people that made it great to begin with. The sushi is amazing, tempura is my sons favorite. My wifes favorite is the Japanese lasagna. Give it a try!

I love to feel welcome at a restaurant, you know a place where everybody knows your name type of atmosphere. The sushi is always fresh and they give a proportionate amount of fish in each roll. Ive been to several more expensive sushi restaurant in md bye far this is the best.

I read these reviews and I always wonder wether the restaurant had somebody write it...but this is a very good place. Sushi was great, staff was very nice, place was very hospitable. The Volcano roll will definitely get your attention. I will be back VERY soon.

The fish here is good. I started eating sushi in 1987 after working in Japan. These guys are a lot of fun and like sake. I uploaded a few pictures of a beautiful boat called the Moon Boat. Moon is the fella in the picture who built it. Very Nice

I have always loved the sushi at Niko, but the new location needs some sprucing up. Perhaps as they settle in, theyll be able to create the kind of welcoming space they had before.

Sushi and sashimi was good. Waitress messed up our order because of the language barrier. Sesame house sauce on the salad not good and tasted like peanut dressing.
