Im writing this review to HIGHLY recommend Mount Washington Tavern for hosting events! I had the cocktail hour and reception for my wedding at Mount Washington Tavern this past April, and I couldnt be happier! We worked with Mike and Amy to plan the event, and they made things incredibly easy for us. My fiance and I chose a budget for cocktail hour, appetizer, and entree per person, and Mike and Amy gave us menu options that would help us stick to that. We had our guests choose between a soup and a salad for the entree, and choose between four dishes for their entree. We also had a childs menu option, but in this case the children ordered their items at the table. For drinks we could have done an open bar without a limit, with a time limit, or a budget limit. We went with the budget limit (Mike suggested this, because he wanted us to know in advance what our bill was going to be for the night), but we actually never hit that. The cocktail hour was held in the SkyBar, and with the wonderful weather our families loved the atmosphere. The dinner was held in the Pimlico Room. The Pimlico Room is great for private events -- if you have enough people you can have the room without extra charge. There is a fireplace and enough room for a DJ. Our wedding was so small that we actually were still sharing the room with other diners, but we loved the atmosphere nonetheless. Not only were the food and location excellent, but the service was AMAZING!! We dropped a box of supplies off earlier in the day, and Amy took charge of setting up our tables (we had provided a seating chart), setting out the gifts sign, and placing the party favors at each seat. We gave no instructions for this, but were pleasantly surprised by the results. We also had decided to have the tavern make the wedding cake, as we wanted a natural buttercream frosting (and we liked the look anyway!). One of the things we dropped off were flowers for the baker to decorate the cake. Not only was the cake delicious, but the pastry chef had decorated the cake with the flowers spiraling down the 3-tiered cake! It was beautiful. Amy was also there overseeing and serving our party. The table service was excellent and the servers were very professional. Even though there were other people in the room, it really felt like their whole attention was towards us and our guests. Planning a wedding is difficult no matter how simple you try to make it, but working with Mount Washington Tavern was one of the easier tasks. My husband, our families, and I were very pleased with our evening!

What a horrible experience where do i begin. First off our waitress after being asked what the tavern steak comes with now that kale is no longer an option and it was unhealthy to eat said she dosnt know. Wow do you work here lol. We were a party of 4 me my 9 yr old son my good friend and my wife. We ordered our meals and my sons came first. 5 min later then came me and my friends entree. Then 10 mins later my wifes food came how convenient. I looked at my plate and noticed that i got mashed potatoes instead of the tavern potatoes. No big deal i tasted them and said wow this has a funny taste to it and looked at my wife and said taste these they are funny tasting she took a bite and said your right. Well here comes our waitress and informed me guess what i wanted you to eat healthy those mashed potatoes are really cauliflower. Thanks for looking out for my health im glad i want allergic to them. Its not done yet here comes the moment were i get out $170.00 tab. Our wonderful waitress COURTNEY F with short blond hair mid 40,s im assuming came and picked our check up and i indicated to her please take the $50 dollars put it toward the tab and the rest of the tab split between 2 credit cards. Well she did something like it was on restaurant impossible the tv show and asked if i can pay her tip with the cash then the rest of the bill on the credit cards. Then looked at me and asked how much do i want to leave after 5 secs of me being caught off guard said leave $30 dollars. At this point i said ok i didnt want to cause a scene with my son. After ten mins came back and literally threw the check book on the table and walked off like she was disgusted with the $ 30.00 tip. This whole experience was disgusting and she should be fired. I have been going to this place for years before the big fire and after when they re opened and be leave me it will be the last. This incident happened on 03/21/2015 around 930pm. I have called 3 times on 03/23 to complained and the hostess keeps telling me the gm is not there and said about 3 different names of people who are in charge no one responded i give up because they just dont care here im a replace able customer

Friday afternoon around 4pm a group of colleagues begin arriving at MWT planning to hangout at happy hour. The upstairs was closed and the downstairs bar area was unable to accommodate a group of 6+ so the group was placed in the empty dining room (but the happy hour drink prices were not extended to us). We were told that the table would need to be vacated by 7pm for a party. We began ordering appetizers and drinks and more drinks and more appetizers. Some more people joined us, a few people from the group left earlier but by 6:30ish we had spent a considerable amount when the very nice waitress dropped off our check. We settled up that check but laughing because the 4 of us who remained wanted to order another round. So at close to 7pm she started another check. At 7:10pm the general manager comes by the table and very curtly informed us that he had told us that we would need the vacate the table at 7pm and now he had a party who had arrived and was waiting. Then he simply walked away. I would not have expected that type of outright rudeness and lack of customer service from the GM. When he finally circled back t check on our departure status, I pointed out to him that the situation could have been resolved by simply coming over to the table at 6:30pm and giving us a gentle reminder (in hindsight perhaps the arrival of the check unsolicited was supposed to be that, but once they took a new order from us that would seem to negate that). At no point in time did he offer to help relocate us to another table or to the bar to finish the drinks they had served us and we had by now paid for. We had not spent the several hours there nursing one drink each. The total was close to $200. We are guilty of nothing more than enjoying ourselves to the point of not watching the clock. It is a mistake I will never again make at The Tavern.

I want to preface this comment by noting that I worked my way, as a server and bartender, through college and grad school. Ive always been hesitant to poorly rate/tip, no matter how bad the service, because I know people have bad nights. But tonight was a horrible experience, from start to finish. It was not a busy night. Yet we were dismissed by the hostess the minute we asked for a table because we had too many children with us ("ugh, they have four children" was actually said...in front of us). Once seated, apparently ordering the kids food with our drinks was too much for our server to handle. She told us to wait until she got back with the drinks. Ultimately, it didnt matter because our entrees came out first (it turns out the kids meals werent even ordered). Getting a side of mayo for my burger only took ten minutes because our server was chatting with the bartender (I guess because it was a slow night). For the price, the food was mediocre; except the side of Brussel sprouts (those were amazing and I would happily order them again). I paid our tab by credit card and was quite confused when our server returned it to me without a receipt to sign (or add tip). I only had to wait another ten minutes to ask her if she even ran the card, which it turns out she didnt. Whats frustrating is, despite a night of horrible service, a simple "Im sorry. Im having a rough night." would have solved everything. Instead, I left ready to complain to a manager, who was "not available." Well, I guess I will "not be returning."
