We went to this place on Sept. 28th, 2013, at 4:00pm. The guy that served on us turned out to be the server, the bartender, and the cook. There were couple tables with customers, so it wasnt even busy. Another girl was just hanging around the place. I dont know if she was the server as well. We ordered sushi which were the most horribly looking sushi wed ever seen. They were not only small, but uneven and were missing rice. After arguing with the girl and the guy, they admitted that they didnt have enough rice to make sushi properly. They canceled our order. We had to pay for our drinks, pina colada and diet coke, and leave after waiting for our food for 50 minutes. This is unacceptable. Were never coming back and surely will spread the word. The customer service is awful and the quality of food is terrible.

The restaurant is very quiet most of the time (almost empty), as a lot of customers seem to order takeout. I prefer less crowded places, so this is a plus for me. As a Thai person, I can say that the food here is not bad. However, I think the cook is Chinese, so that may be why some of the dishes do not taste completely authentic in terms of the herbs you normally get in your food, but its close enough. Dishes that are indicated spicy are actually spicy, which I appreciate. Would recommend the Larb and Yum Woon Sen for those who want to try new things (everyone I know always orders Pad Thai and green curry). Thai iced tea tastes pretty good. Overall, I would give 3.5 stars. I do prefer Stang of Siam, which is more authentic and have Thai owners, if Im not mistaken, but Ban Thai is pretty good as well.

This restaurant was only a block away from our hotel, so we figured wed give it a try. Its decorated nicely and its very clean. The menu has a large variety of dishes to choose from. Our waitress Sara was wonderful. She answered questions about the dishes. The portions were pretty good sized, too. If you like spicy, ask for the hot peppers. Our waitress brought us a tray with hot green peppers, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, and hot thai peppers. They grow the thai peppers themselves. Everyone in my group loved them! We ordered a wide variety of dishes, from vegan to sea food. No one was disappointed! If I am in the area again, I will definitely stop here. Very friendly and attentive wait staff, too.

I was too tired to walk all the way down to another sushi place and Google maps said this was the closest, despite it being a Thai restaurant. I guess I was there at about 2PM for lunch. The waitress was nice enough and I have no complaints about the service. Service for the time of the day was 4.5 stars. I decided to have the sushi lunch special. I love sushi and have been eating it all week. The day before I had sushi from Whole Foods self serve area and it was superior to the sushi I had here. The sushi wasnt awful, just that the rice lacked the flavor I look for when eating. Three stars because all in all it was okay. Just okay.

Identity is missing. I would give 4 stars for a Chinese place. More Chinese and Japanese items on the menu than Thai. I had the basil pork, good, but not great. Not sure why there were more green beans than anything else. It was missing something, not sure what. Friend had teriyaki chicken, which he loved. Wait staff spoke Chinese, not Thai. Brought me a spicy dish without asking my preference. We drank water because they never asked if we wanted something different. Had baseball on the TV. Really?

Good but not great. Ok, ok, ok - I come from the San Francisco Bay Area - where Asian cuisine is as American as Apple pie. This restaurant was "just OK" - not the incredibly yummy red and yellow curries we get at almost any Thai restaurant, but still very good. A good drop in place. I found it every expensive however for the type of restaurant. One item deserves special mention: the deep fried tofu appetizer. Unusually good and very different. I will look for this "at home."

i love Ban Thai! Always order here, they have super fast delivery (they always say like an hour then show up in like 20 minutes or less sometimes and I use Grubhub), so they are great when youre super hungry! The delivery guy is super respectful/friendly too! I like the pad thai and the philadelphia sushi rolls, they are delicious and come in huge portions so i am always able to get 2-3 meals out of it! Im not sure why the reviews are so low, i love this place!

I just came from Bangkok and needed to have thai food. Just moved in to the area and stop by Ban Thai. Food just like Thailand you just have to know how to order (aka off the menu). They were a little relucted to make it spicy, afraid that I couldnt handle it till I spoke my broken Thai and told them Ive been there. Everything was great, Nam Tok was right on, then pannang was out of this world!

My girlfriend and I had lunch here on Valentines day. The food was great, though I should warn that their spicy food is very spicy. I ordered a dish that was 2 stars on the spiciness scale, and it was extremely spicy for me (and Im from India!). They had decorated the whole place very well, and even had heart shaped carrot/cucumber pieces in soups and dishes. :-) Staff was very friendly.

Our server was rude and dismissive, we were the only people in the restaurant around 3pm. We asked what vegetables were in the green curry and then when it came out it had totally different than what she said (which is why we asked) Thai places keep using American vegetables that dont belong in Thai food. My pad Thai was way over cooked and my wifes green curry was not good either.

Too much salt and MSG-like substance were put in the Pad Thai. I only had a very small portion of it and could not handle it any more. I told the manager and she only said she would tell them. I told the waitress i am from CA and she said maybe the California Pad Thai is different from Baltimores. But arent they both from Thailand? Very bad experience. I will never go back.

This place used to be alright about 5 to 6 years ago. It was my goto whenever I had a craving for Thai food. But ever since the Chinese took over, the food while edible just aint the same. Served me a dish that appeared to be a fusion of Chinese food with some Siracha sauce just thrown on it. Im 1/2 Thai...so I grew up eating Thai food. Bring back the old Ban Thai.

I wish I could say something nice about this place or the food, but I was never able to experience it. After waiting an hour and 15 minutes for my food to arrive, I called the restaurant to see what was taking so long and was hung up on mid-conversation. I called back to cancel my order and ask for a refund and was hung up on again. Horrible customer service.
