I ate at Camellia Café for Saturday breakfast/brunch with a group of friends. Most of my party really enjoyed their meals, but the wait time was excessive. The kitchen was really behind, and it took about an hour to receive our food once we ordered. Im probably the only one of my party who didnt enjoy the food. I ordered the French toast, but rather than thick bread cooked through with custard, I got a few slices of a sandwich loaf coated with fried egg. Our waitress, Jaimee, was the redeeming factor of the experience. She was very friendly and genuinely apologetic about the wait.

We visited Slidell while on vacation in New Orleans on our way to a tour of the Pearl River swamp and marshlands. We were counting on the Camellia Cafe to fill us up before our afternoon tour. We were not disappointed! Our party had a variety of different items from the menu--roast beef po-boy, chicken sandwich, seafood platter and everyone was satisfied with their meal. The restaurant is unassuming from the outside and parking is a little haphazard, but the interior is a fine place to be. Our service was conscientious, knowledgeable, and expedient. We had a great experience!

Our wait was over 1 1/2 hours. It was only after we noticed people who came in after us being served and leaving and then us asking for our drink ticket so we could leave that we were told we would be served in less than five minutes. Waitress was gracious and kept apologizing. Since when does it take that long for chicken clubs and chicken salad. We were told Fried food is quicker. Quicker than what? This is not the first time the service has been so slow. Love the food but you lost eight customers today.

my wife and I eat there as often as we can. The service is great, and the food is great. They make the best juciest fried mushrooms we have had. The he crab, shrimp and corn bisque is to die for. They have something for everyones taste. and we love the atmosphere. Get there early, because we are not the only people that love it. Get there around 5pm while its still happy hour, and sit and watch the place fill up.

The food tasted great. The take out portions were extremely small for the price. One small handful of sweet potatoe fries ( paid $4.95) spinach salad 1 egg halved 2 grape tomatoes approximately 1tsp of bacon( if even that much) 3 slivers of purple onion maybe a 1/3 of a cup of mushrooms and 2cups ( if that much ) of spinach paid $8.95

Even better than we were expecting! Our waitress Victoria was the embodiment of southern hospitality. Her suggestions for our selections were spot on, and the owners Dave and Randi are good down to earth people. Overall my hubs and I give the Camellia 4 thumbs up!

Small , very cool cafe. Friendly staff . Two waitress went by and said hello , and good morning ( with smiles) . Big local crowd. I had a veggie omelette , potatoes and toast. The picture says it all ! Terrific place.

Great food! The crawfish étouffée is awesome! We also had blackened Mahi mahi that was perfect! The food is authentic & always fresh. The servers are always friendly. And they had some good local beer on tap.

I had 2 softshell broiled crabs with sauteed mushrooms and a salad and tea was incredible! My friend had fried pickles, salad and red beans and rice with a tea. He said it was the best food he has ever eaten!!

Went to this place on Cinco de Mayo day and it was recommended. Had the Rib and Shrimp special. The food was mediocre at best, the dollar margaritas were over priced, and the service ridiculously slow.
