The worst place we got food on our trip. We were exited to end our trip and have dinner here on a Sunday and right off the bat I sensed something was wrong. Sunday dinner time and there were only 6 people in the whole place. The waitress we had was nice but it was her first day so she wasnt very knowledgeable with the menu. We got the Duck & Andouille jambalaya and Rustic Lamb Fricarsse. The jambalaya was by far the worst jambalaya Ive ever had. Bland, no spices, not spicy and I found 4 tiny pieces of sausage, the duck was chewy and bland as mentioned all soaking in a pool broth of soggy rice. The lamb was better but it was covered with mushrooms which they did not mention on the menu. Very few pieces of lamb as well and the mushrooms are thrown in to make it look meatier than it actually is. Overall it was such a disappointment. Ive never had a bad food taste experience in New Orleans, service yes but not food until I came here. Stay clear from this place, by far one of the worst restaurants in New Orleans.

We arrived and after waiting several minutes at the host stand were finally greeted and told there was a 15 minute wait. I hold the hostess that was fine and we would wait at the bar. It took us 10 minutes to get our beers and after 45 minutes we had to leave. The hostess had gone into the back and had not come out for at least 10 minutes so we couldnt even tell her to take us off the list. I understand that restaurants get busy and sometimes you have to wait longer than expected but for 20 minutes of the time we were waiting a table had been cleared, re-set, and was ready to go. This was out first time there after recently moving to this neighborhood and have only heard great things. It was a big disappointment.

The Irish House is the best place in New Orleans for Breakfast (Full Irish), Lunch (Shepherds Pie), Dinner (Lamb) and during a good drinking session (Curry Chips). I also love the Potato Leek Soup at any time. Beyond the outstanding food there is always plenty of Craic (fun) to be had whether its the traditional Irish music, the Rugby on the big screen upstairs or the Sea Shanty Sing-a-long. The Irish House is a must go for me all the time here in NOLA and a must visit for all my friends from abroad. In a city with such great food, I feel that says quite a bit. I enjoy all my time here from the casual drink after work to dressed up dinner and the relaxed cocktails by the fireplace. Slainte!

The hostess/waitress was clueless. We went for the Saints game and asked to be seated near a TV...she put us between two of the only four tables that were occupied, and not in the best place closest to the TVs. After 10 minutes, she still hadnt so much as come back to take our drink orders. We ended up moving the the bar. The bartender was much more friendly and attentive. We had one drink and decided to go elsewhere. When we left, the table we had been originally seated at still had the menus and ice water on it. Wish I could speak to the quality of the food but table service was so horrible, we never ate. Highly unlikely that well ever go back. Gave an extra star since the bartender was good.

The atmosphere alone would be enough to make me stay for an extra pint or two (lots of relics on display that flood my mind with nostalgia for when I lived in Ireland, and the choice of music through the speakers on rotation is top notch). The food is what keeps bringing a person back...rich and inventive, it holds its own against any New Orleans restaurant (definitely not what I ate on campus in Ireland, thank God). Highly recommended for lovers of good food, lovers of Irish culture, and lovers of good craic (if youre lucky, you might get to chat with chef Matt Murphy, if he isnt too busy whipping up his creations...hes a very sweet, very funny man)!

Absolutely amazing food by Chef Matt Murphy. When you walk in from the front entrance, you run into the bar. Unlike most bars in New Orleans; this bar is clean, family friendly and melancholy. Its like youre walking into a simpler time where people were more trusting, food was better prepared, and life was more than perfect. Try sitting at a table outside or closer to the street car line . You can feel the Irish culture and history come alive every minute you sit down and enjoy a juicy rack of lamb. That or have a pint from the bar with some friends. Real glasses for pints; and dem Saints fans here! WHO DAT?!?!

My husband and I loved the Irish House. I am gluten free and their menu options were clearly labeled, even labeled anti-inflammatory and paleo. Vegan too, if thats what youre into. I had the roasted beet arugula salad. It was lightly dressed and delicious. My entree was Shepherds pie. It was so good and what comfort food should taste like. My non GF husband had the fish and chips and said they were awesome. For dessert, I had the lemon posset. It was tangy and delicious. Just like a creamy, lemon custard should be. We were recommended to the Irish House by our fabulous server at Brennans, Michael.

The Irish House is in a tall, narrow, deep wood frame building on the River side of St. Charles Avenue. The exterior and interior are elaborately and tastefully designed in an Irish "homey" theme. The wait staff are friendly and professional. We ordered a Tuesday special: two Fish & Chips for the price of one and draft beer (had Smithwicks) for $4.00 per pint. The fish meal, while ordinary, was delicious and not at all greasy. The seltzer bread with butter appetizer was interesting. Also, their tartar sauce was quite nice. Id most certainly head back to this place! RJT

Had lunch there. The service was very slow to take our orders and the food was good, but nothing special. The shepherds pie was too dry - not completely dried out, but too dry. I expect the beef used was just too lean and no real sign of gravy, but it had a good flavor. When you use really lean meat (my wife uses bison sometimes) for shepherds pie, you have to mix in some other less lean meat otherwise it will dry up like this. My wife said her soup was good. Im willing to give it another try.

We sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine intending to order dinner. The bar tender asked for my credit card to start a tab and I was stupid enough to give him my càrd. When he returned to take our dinner order I asked for my credit card back and he refused to return it. At that point I insisted on the return of my card and it took my persistent demand and the threat of calling the police to get it back. Stay away from this place. They are not good people.

I went to the Irish House to see what it was about and I was so impressed that I keep going back. Everything I have tried on the menu has been amazing. I can not tell you how much I have enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. It is a great restaurant to go to with your children. During Mardi Gras, the staff would take the kids outside to catch beads. I can not speak highly enough of the Irish House. Dont take my word for it, go see for yourself!
