I have taken my husband off the beaten track, once again. I have convinced him to drive me from Shreveport LA down to Natchitoches for an early dinner here at Cane River bar & grill. We have started with a beer for him and a Pink Alligator for myself. Awaiting mini meat pies as our appetizer here on the outside deck overlooking Cane River. Meat pies were yummy with both sauces served. Cant wait to decide on dinner and I already known dessert will be the Cane River Creole Bread Pudding with rum sauce, to go! My husband had the whole Alligator PoBoy with fries (he is stuffed but it was great). I had the Tuna steak salad (the tuna was cooked perfect just like I like my steak medium rare) I am also stuffed but I have my bread pudding packed to go!!! A rain storm came up and made a loud patter on the tin roof but we were still surrounded by blue skies and blessed with a huge beautiful rainbow. We will return for another meal a d a longer stay should we find ourselves back in Louisiana. Great food and nice friendly service.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! Three of us came in for lunch on a Saturday and they were not busy but I read the reviews and most were good so we tried it. We order two appitizers and the daily special chicken on a stick. We were there and hour and a half waiting on our food. They said they got our order wrong and was redoing it so we asked if we could go ahead and have our appetizer and they brought them out and they were already cold Why would you hold the appetizers until your meal cooked? Appetizers means before your meal. The chicken finally arrived and it was terrible We gave it back to the waitress. It smelled and tasted funny so we did not eat it thinking it might make us sick. All I can say is we will never eat here again.

We ate here during a weekend trip to Natchitoches. We sat on the patio, it was very nice looking out over Cane River. The food was wonderful! Im picky when it comes to fried fish because its usually not seasoned well and pretty bland. I got the fried catfish with fried okra. The fish and the okra were perfectly seasoned. It was a very generous portion of food...definitely got my moneys worth. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely go back!

Found our favorite place to eat in Natchitoches! ! Very clean cozy atmosphere!! Food service and the regulars are absolutel delightful! Will b a regular stop when passing thru!! Approximately a mile from the quaint little shops n downtown! I believe Steel Magnolias was filmed along the river here! BTW if you want to dine overlooking the river on the patio, lots of fans!! Thanks Brittany for great service! And Steve...great place!!!!

The food is good but it isnt nearly good enought to tolerate the terrible service. The servers are too busy chit chatting to bring silverware to the table or the salad that comes with the steak or even to get refills for the table while we are the only table in the place! This is the case on every single visit. Seriously in need of front of house management. Will not be returning.

Loved the atmosphere. You can sit on the balcony and watch the activity on the River while watching TV with your lunch, or you can sit inside. But even though we went during a rush period, we received our food in a timely manner and our waitress was right on top of us everytime taking care of us. If your looking for white table cloths and tuxedos, you wont find it here.

Atmosphere over food. The setting is great, the service is usually good, there is often live music, and they allow our pups on the patio (on a leash, of course). The food is good for the price, but most of it is "heavy" or fried. I would love some fresh fruit and veggie options. We go here often.

I hated it. Waitress had a poor additude and it took over an hour for food when it wasnt busy. Then she added a tip to our tickets and they said they cant take it off. She didnt refill drinks r check on us. We got food only after asking for. Amanager and no one in the kitchen had hair nets on

Very expensive for small portions I ordered the steak it was burnt and the loaded baked potato was terrible my husband had the bbq potato there was barely any bbq in it also all they serve is beer I couldnt even have a smirnoff they were out!

One of my favorite places to eat. Its not expensive. Its not fancy. I can take grandkids and not have to worry if they talk or play a bit. When it gets cooler, looking forward to eating on the deck.

Came on a Sunday for lunch, sat on the back deck and had such a good time. Families and little league teams were eating and enjoying the river view. The Cuban sandwich was delicious and service was good.
