My sister came from California to visit us and we decided to have some Indian food together hence I took her to this restaurant. We were 5 people and personally I was very hungry..I asked for a table for 5 and I was told to wait...time passed by..another couple also waiting for their turn..! 20 min passed and kids started crying so I decided to ask the manager again for the seat..and finally we were given seat..! We ordered 3 of Indian dishes and around 5 breads (AKA roti/naan)...it was 8:00 pm..we were waiting..time passed and now 8:30pm I reminded the waiter..no response hence I went to manager and finally some dishes arrived and the waiter said "he will bring bread..." another 20min passed no bread..we were just eating curry....I went to manager again and he brought a single bread (naan) for five people..again waited for 10min and finally decided to go without eating...so I asked the manager for the check and he happily gave me the bill without any apologies..He didt even care that we were not served food..when I said I will complain to Better Business Bureaus, he just ignored me.... This restaurant is poorly staffed and misleading menu titles. We ordered paneer ticka which is a grilled item and he brought us a paneer butter masala ...the quantity served is very less and price is very high with a poor service.

LAST WEEK ME AND COUPLE OF MY FRIENDS WENT TO THIS RESTAURANT FOR DINNER. THERE WAS NO ONE TO RECEIVE US, AND THE RECEPTION COUNTER WAS EMPTY. TWO MINUTES LATER WE ATTENDED BY THE LADY. AFTER 5 MINS WAITER CAME AND ASKED FOR THE DRINKS. THE MANAGER CAME AND SERVED THE WRONG ONES WHICH WE HAD ORDERED. WE INFORMED HIM THAT THESE ARE WRONG AND HE TOOK BACK AND SENT THE ONES WHICH WE HAD ASKED. WE ARE TOTALLY UPSET WITH THE DRINKS, THESE ARE NOT UP TO THE STANDARDS WHICH WE EXPECT LIKE IN CHANGS RESTAURANT. LATER ON FOOD CAME. THE WAITER BROUGHT THE FOOD ONE BY ONE LIKE FOUR TIMES. THIS IS TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND NOT ACCEPTABLE IN A RESTAURANT LIKE THIS. RESTAURANT LOOKS LIKE VERY RICH BUT THE STAFF ARE NOT WELL TRAINED. THE MANAGER ASKED ABOUT THE FOOD AND THE SERVICE, A PUNGENT CIGAR SMELL COMING OUT OF HIM. WE INFORMED ABOUT THE SERVICE, FOOD IS OK. ESPECIALLY THE DOSA IS GOOD. WE INFORMED HIM THAT THE COST OF EACH DISH IS PRICED HIGH, HE SAID THAT IT IS A FINE DINING RESTAURANT. WE SMILED FOR THIS PITTY ANSWER. WE DECIDED NOT TO GO TO THIS RESTAURANT BECAUSE OF THE SERVICE AND INPROFESSIONAL WAY OF HANDLING THE CUSTOMERS BY THE MANAGER AND THE DISHES COST. THANK YOU BAYLEAF, BYE BYE

Pros - drinks always filled - buffet - very good food - lots of spice - great atmosphere Cons - lack of variety (buffet) - expensive The restaurant itself is fancy, clean, and the atmosphere is quite charming. Overall the service is quite nice aswell especially when it comes to drinks. The first time I went my cup was filled at all times. Whenever someone noticed my drink getting low that would come refill it. Moving on to the food, first the buffet, the food there is quite spicy nonetheless it is beautifully done with several curry types to other traditional indian foods. There are salad options as well as vegetable items for those who are vegetarian and the Naan, served at your table, is quite good. There are some downsides including a lack in variety. Only a handful of deserts exist and quite often there will only be some food out during lunch, but for the most part quality makes up for quantity here. There is a menu for those who are not eating at the buffet, although I have not personally ate from the menu, there are quite a few more options there. Overall, although a little pricey, this place is definitely worth trying once.

We stopped here when traveling through and were delighted that we did! The reception was warm and friendly, and we felt that this must be a family-run establishment. We had the lunch buffet which totaled $36 for two adults and two kids, a great value for us! The environment was fresh and lovely, very nice facilities, comfortable booths with nice lighting. The buffet had a nice variety to offer, and i was particularly pleased with the array of vegetarian selections. All the dishes were well spiced and labeled with their name and description, putting this at the top of my list for outstanding Indian buffets. Warm, fresh, chewy & delicious naan was brought to the table. Our waters were kept full, and we were checked on frequently by various staff and owners. I highly recommend this restaurant!

I went here recently for lunch with my father and we enjoyed the food. This was my first time eating Indian food and I was surprised how spicy this was. My father and the people sitting by us said the same thing about how spicy it was. We both put cayenne pepper on everything and can handle spice better than most, but whatever spice they used, it was extremely spicy on every meat in the buffet. Im not sure if it was a slow day when we went or if they put a lot more food out during supper time, but the buffet selection was really small. The food they did have had really great flavor and we both enjoyed it. Were planning on going back sometime in the near future, and I hope the day we went they accidentally went overboard on the spice.

HORRIBLE !! WORST EVER RESTAURANT I HAVE SEEN IN MY LIFE TIME...BALD INDIAN GUY IS VERY RUDE Guys dont go here.I went with my family and colleague for lunch buffet.Food Buckets for some dishes were empty around 12.45 pm and when we asked for these dishes they said those items are finished. When we paid the bill the BALD INDIAN GUY...he came back to us and asked us for the tip...I said if we already paid more for the dish than it deserve to be why should we pay more...he started murmuring and giving hatred looks..I URGE Bay leaf management to kick a** of this guy and hire some needy one. Besides all this the mexican guy was very nice and helpful too.

We have had Indian food for years, from England to Montreal, Canada. We have tried every Indian restaurant in Baton Rouge and by far the Bay Leaf is "the best". Service is very good, the owner always comes over and talks with us, we have been there so often we no longer have to tell them what we want. Even before we became regulars (without the owner coming to greet us) they always boxed our food to go and were very pleasant. As for the food, let me say this: its the only leftover food I will not share with my son!! If it is over priced compared to other places Id rather pay than not enjoy my meal.

This food is just ok. They almost have the same menu everyday but for 1 or 2 dishes. They also dont cook sufficient food. A person who goes for a buffet in the last one hour keep hearing that a particular dish is over and end up paying for all he didnt eat. Moreover they dont cook fresh food daily. The food that is left over on one day is served the very next day or two days later. Their thinking is that no one will ever come to know about this. The rotis and even the jamoon which are supposed to be soft were very hard the day I ate.
