Highlands Coffee Company has something for every type of coffee drinker. For the flavored latté lover, there are not only flavored syrups, but also flavored house-made whipped creams. For the vegan and the lactose intolerant, there are three choices for dairy-free milk. For the poor college student seeking a caffeine fix, they have black coffee with an in-house refill bar for minimal cost. The artwork on the wall frequently rotates, featuring pictures from local artists and local school-children. Even a few of the tables are decorative. My only complaints are that the beans for homebrew are rather underwhelming in terms of flavor, and that their parking lot is often so full that finding a spot is impossible. They also have a booth at the local farmers market when it is open, selling black coffee to the early rising patrons to help them wake up. If you are looking for a staple in the Louisville community, Highlands Coffee Company is the coffee hub for you.

I know where Highlands Coffee is. This iconic Louisville coffee shop is still going strong, even with the shop-next-door refusing to allow them a permanent sign by the street. But onwards and upwards: Highlands Coffee continues to make the smoothest lattes and hot chocolates around. Flavored whip creams add to the different combinations. Great cold brew coffee. Lots of vegan desserts. And a bubble gum suspensor with chocolate covered espresso beans. The latest collaboration between my partner and the barista was caramel white hot chocolate with caramel whip (AMAZING!). I tend to stick to the white mocha with blackberry whip (tried and true). Highlands Coffee is also a hangout spot for younger adults. The crowd has always been respectful of others, typically chatting or buried in laptops. There are typically a few open seats when I have gone in, if you need a spot to work while caffeinating. Stop by for a latte, if you can find it!

Ive been coming here for years and I really do enjoy this place. The espresso is good, but I have gotten a few drinks made incorrectly. A latte and a cappuccino are different drinks and when Im paying $5 for one, I expect it to be made correctly. The coffee selection is nice; there are usually multiple varieties available to try. I will say, it can get a bit noisy and seating can be hard to come by at peak hours (nothing compared to Quills though). The ambience is kind of hit or miss. I dont mean to sound snobbish, but when Im spending a couple hours in a café, I like it to look nice & not have to hear P!nk and Maroon 5 playing. But once again, this is a great café with good, locally roasted coffee. I would have a hard time giving it three stars, so four it is!

I lived in Louisville for 3 years (recently moved to Greensboro, NC), and always loved going to Highland Coffee (it was my favorite coffee shop, due to the very friendly workers, and very good food and deserts). What I miss most about it is their Iced Chai Tea (it was the best I ever had). I cant even find a decent coffee shop here (where I live now) in Greensboro, who offers a good glass of Iced Chai. I would relocate back to Louisville just for the amazing Chai Tea Latte alone (I love it that much). Anyways, if you are new to Louisville, and looking for a great coffee shop, then I would recommend Highland Coffee. I cant comment on their coffee though, because I am a tea drinker (never liked coffee).

I have been coming to this coffee shop since I was a little kid and I adore their staff and I love their coffee but the last few times I have gone the people working keep skipping over songs that were playing (10-15 in a row) and it was going on all evening and became very distracting. I understand that they were trying to find a song they enjoyed but I know that this place is where a lot of college students go to do there work and I could tell that it was getting on some people nerves including mine. Honestly this is the only unenjoyable experience I have ever had here.

My first trip to Highland Coffee ten years ago was with my now lovely wife back when we were dating. I never, ever, drank coffee. Anytime I would end up at a coffee shop it was a tea or hot chocolate. I was convinced one time to try the Swiss Mocha with Blackberry whip cream and ten years later Ive likely had 100s of them. The coffee is superb, the staff is easy going and willing to smile which is missing to often from coffee shops, and the quiche is top notch. Support a local coffee shop and try this fantastic little shop among the many on Bardstown Rd.

My favorite coffee shop anywhere. Their non-coffee options are extensive, and quality is consistently high, and from what friends tell me, the same can be said of their coffee offerings as well. These attributes also extend to their bakery items, which include scones, bagels, muffins, paninis, and wraps, as well as sweeter treats. They have many options for gluten free and vegan patrons, and the staff is absolutely lovely!

Greentea frap, blended chai are great. The vegan and organic food tastes good. Cheesecake brownie is a go. The atmosphere is pleasant, friendly, not overcrowded by young immature teens. Youll usually see people in the age range from about 24 to 50. free wifi, which you ask the workers for the password. Cute outside patio area.

Loved it. A local place with a great atmosphere. Its on Bardstown road and actually has parking! I went there to meet a friend during the weekday and it wasnt crowded - it would be a great place for a small group to meet up. The service is excellent and so was the coffee. Totally on my regular place to hit list.

Highland Coffee makes great coffee and treats! Unpretentious atmosphere. Sometimes, depending on the hour, many people will hunker down with their laptop and work and insist on library-like atmosphere...if youre a talker, then theres a more airy and affable patio that may suit your needs a little bit better!

The place is always busy, but rarely do I have to wait for a seat. The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable. Theres never a problem with substitutions and the staff will go out of their way to help with food allergies. They arent the best coffee in Louisville, but definitely in the top three.

One of the best coffee shops in Louisville, my first time I just asked them to make me something good and different and Ive got the same thing ever since (Blended Swiss Mocha Chia Latte with Blackberry whip) but all my friends drinks that Ive had sips of have also been incredible.

Great space with great coffee. Whether its getting work done or meeting up with friends, Highland Coffee is the place to go to have a good cup of coffee and a relaxing time. I HIGHLY recommend the Blended Blackberry Mocha with blackberry whipped cream for a sweet treat.
