This place is really something, but not something good! Dirty, smells like cigarette smoke throughout the whole building, even the elevators. Room #1, smelled musty and old...pulled back the curtains only to have a view of the storage area behind the pool used for stacking chairs. Are they kidding...why would you rent out a room with a view of a storage area INSIDE the hotel?? Went to the lobby explained the situation, requested another room. Room #2, well at least there was a window to help with the smell of cigarette smoke. But the drilling in the hallway overshadowed the momentary happiness of the clean air. Looked out the door into the hallway, and they are removing ceiling tiles, running cables and drilling holes, I was very polite when I asked how long this may go on.... and got a grunt in response! Thinking back, not even sure it was a grunt, I shudder to think what it might have been!! Now I am thinking great, just what I want to listen to, after driving 12 hours and paying 160.00 @ night! Leave, go to dinner, come back and try to sleep through this obvious mistake in judgement. At around midnight, the room next to us decides to have everyone back to their room for a party. At 1:00a.m. I call the front desk for backup..takes them 45 minutes to even address the situation. I really am not trying to be an awful person here...but this place really is disgusting...Bathrooms old, dirty, cracked tiles and a tub in desperate need of resurfacing, holes in the dust ruffles. I had read the reviews before I booked, and thought I have a 50/50 chance based on what I had read....unless you want to stay in a dirty place that smells like an ashtray, keep looking.

This hotel blends the historic charms of a bed and breakfast with the comfort of a modern hotel. First the lobby was very clean and the front desk personel were very welcoming and got us checked in quickly. The room was also very clean and matched the pictures online when we booked the room. The mattress was the perfect balance for my wife and I for firmness. In-room kurig coffee maker is a nice touch in the morning. The bathroom was clean and modern looking with everything you expect from a hotel ( soap, shampoo, hair dryer, etc). Lastly, checkout was seamless. We did not eat at the restaurant or drink at the bar but I did look at both areas and they looked nice and clean. Overall this hotel was reasonably priced near downtown Lexington and offered a great stay. I would definitely stay here again when returning to Lexington and recommend it to my friends and family.

My mother and I stayed here with my 5yr old daughter. We specifically booked The Crowne Plaza because of the heated pool ammenity. Unfortunately when we got there it was very cold and to our disappointment the maintenance never got it to heat up despite our persistant calls. What a total drag for my daughter and me... we wanted to hang out by the pool while Gran saw her doctors. However if you dont care about swimming in a heated pool and are looking for a beautiful place to stay with excellent room service, great food and staff, lovely restaurant, spacious, tastefully decorated quiet rooms ...then this is your place. If it werent for the pool incident what a perfect stay this would have been. Graciously the manager made good our disappointment for she gave us a night free and so that money will of course be used for swimming at the hotel in our hometown.

After reading reviews, I decided to book this hotel as a central location during our bourbon trail tour experience. I wont waste time with specifics but Im VERY, VERY disappointed. Im travel a lot and have achieved diamond status so I stay at many Hilton family hotels. This hotel supposedly underwent recent renovations and while the renovations are nice they have done a poor job maintaining the facility. Floors are dirty, carpet stained in all heavy traffic areas, we even found someone elses contact on our bathroom sink upon arrival!!! Staff were nice but thats it. Breakfast staff were understaffed and my coffee was cold and I had to ask repeatedly for refills. Rooms are cozy but small. Bring a sound machine or earplugs too because the hotel is next to a hospital and sirens will keep you up. I DO NOT recommend this hotel and will not book here again.

Stayed during their renovations and was willing to accept some chaos from that. However, I encountered issues that should NEVER happen. The first morning I had report that the shower/tub wasnt draining properly. The second night there were a couple insects in the room. The first two mornings the water was only moderately warm. The third morning there was NO HOT WATER for our room or any room in our wing (the boiler broke). The fourth morning our room and the rest of the wing had NO HOT WATER after 9 AM (the boiler hadnt recovered from the day before). For our troubles they refunded 75% of one days stay and refused to offer more. Also, the breakfast service (not typically complimentary, except w/ group deals) was good the first too days (made to order) but sub-par the second too days (buffet style). OVERALL - DO NOT STAY HERE!

We stayed at the Campbell House Inn for 2 nights, and we were fortunate enough to have exceptional service from the front desk, as well as at Kilberns. Our waiter, Charles, was absolutely wonderful and the food was superb (especially the bread pudding)! In addition, the hotel was equipped with some of the finest amenities and provided an atmosphere of genuine "southern hospitality". One of the perks of staying here was its ideal location and proximity from Keeneland and the University of Kentucky. However, we did experience some minor inconveniences. The bathtub did not drain well, and we found that the bathroom was quite small when compared to the spacious room itself. Nonetheless, we were quite impressed with our first stay in Kentucky and we look forward to spending the night here in the future!

What a steal!! I mean they steal your personal items. Make sure when you leave you have all your personal items, because if you happen to leave something behind and immediately call the hotel when you get home and realize you left something, not only will they NOT call you back you have to spend a week calling and calling to get to speak to an actual person. When you finally do they say "well look into this but we dont have your item" and well call you back with updates, THEY NEVER DO. There is ZERO response from management and they dont even call you back to apologize and offer up some type of compensation. So if you dont mind their staff stealing from you, customer service which is the worst Ive ever had, maybe youll get lucky and have a room with a view of air conditioners.

Historic Lexington hotel undergoing extensive (and I mean EXTENSIVE) renovation implemented by new ownership. Stayed in April 2014 and October 2014. The renovation began over the summer, and by October, much had changed. From what I saw, the hotel is heading toward becoming a premier destination. Rooms freshly painted, carpeted, and appointed. Beds VERY comfortable. Kilberns restaurant had great cuisine and bourbon selection/bar. Crab cakes and bread pudding excellent, as was the bourbon salmon. Lobby has "wow" factor. Again, all heading in a very positive direction. Proximity great too: Keeneland is about 15 minutes away, via a scenic drive. Will DEFINITELY be staying there in the spring when I come down again for the KEE Spring Meeting. I think you all will enjoy this hotel, too.
