(Revised my review from 4 -> 5 stars since new ownership took over.) Amazing Indian food - really amazing. Were long-time Indian food fans and this is now the best in Lexington, passing up Tandoor in our opinion. If you like authentic flavor: The food tends to the mild side (welcome to KY) so you might want to ask for the spices to be slightly hotter than usual. If you want to be adventurous, ask for "Indian traditional spices." - and have a couple of beers handy. When reading the reviews below KEEP IN MIND that this restaurant has recently changed hands. If you see any negative reviews before around 1/1/10, they were probably for the old restaurant, and as far as I can tell all of the issues are resolved. They are in a bad location for a restaurant, but worth finding them, and their website is pretty awful also. I just dont understand why restaurants dont take websites seriously, including mobile-friendly ones.

I absolutely love this restaurant. Its conveniently located to my work and the food is delicious. I have never been to a buffet where the food was so good for a price so cheap. I recommend this place to all of my friends and they love it as well. They also do cards for the buffets (ex. For so many buffets, you get one free). I have had dinner at Taj India as well and its delicious as well. Id like to note that this restaurant was reopened and I believe renamed in the fall/winter of last year (2009). I wish their hours of operation were a little bit wider though, especially their buffet hours.

Chick pea saag was Some of the best i have ever had. Jalferez was on point. Cant wait to try more of thoer dishes. The naan was Some of the best i have ever eaten. Crispy on the outside and not too doughy. The famuly that ownes and runs the place are wonderful and kind. I am shocked that i just now realized this is here. The only complaint i can think of is the onion chutney is diced a little large but flavor was on point and the entire experience was amazing. They will be seeing me again and again. Cant wait to take my kids.

A good place to try for delicious Indian food. The staff is super friendly and will make you feel like you are at home. The spicy LAMB BIRYANI is a must to try and to experience the taste if true Indian spice. The GULAB JAMUN is definitely the most delicious desert I have ever tasted and at Taj and the taste is really enjoyable. Affordable buffet - with many options to try. Other menu options are worth giving a try. I Love the food ad staff members for their service and hospitality!!

This place serves the best Indian food in Lexington. The quality of food, taste and service is excellent. The buffet has a lot of variety and freshly cooked food. The owner is a Punjabi and he is the cook too. He does true justice to all delicacies the Punjabi way. The food is reasonably priced and the main thing is that the staff is very polite and welcoming unlike other Indian restaurants in Lexington and around. I would definitely recommend this place.

This was our first visit to an Indian restaurant, and it was so wonderful, we cant stop talking about it. Our server was Raj, he bent over backward to make sure every need was taken care of. We chose the Chicken Chili and Lamb Vindaloo. Both were outstanding, but the Lamb Vindaloo was unforgettable. I cant wait to go back. Next time I will go at lunch for their $7.99 buffet which includes hot tea and their marvelous house coconut ice cream. See you there!

We ordered take-out and the person of the phone was very accommodating. They also respected our requests for the heat level. They really delivered Indian food that was mild and the kids could eat it. I prefer spicy and my dish was spicy enough. On the downside, the food was somewhat unbalanced. Some of the dishes with tomato sauce were too acidic and seemed not to emanate those rich Indian spices (the sauces were almost Italian like rather than Indian).

My wife and I have enjoyed every meal we have had. This has become one of our favorite "Go to" restaurants. When we ask the question "where do you want to eat out tonight", it seems like more and more we answer that question with Taj India. We have eaten in quite few Indian restaurants around the country, and by far this has the best combination of food, service and atmosphere.

Excellent place to eat! The restaurant is a strange building in a strange spot. However, the food is fantastic and the service is always the best. I love this place so much, I eat there with my family at least once a week. Update: Ive been to several other places (curry house, 4 spice). Taj India is still the best in my opinion!

Perhaps one of the best Indian restaurant in and around Lexington. Food is tasty, comfortable on your tummy ( yes, this aspect os very important ) and served by very friendly staff. The ambience isnt too great but the food more than makes up for that ! I highly recommend this place if you want to eat good indian food .

Delicious food and friendly service. We have been coming here for years and just cant get enough. One of the only places in Lexington that will actually serve spicy food. You can get hotter than "Indian" hot here too upon request. They actually made my chicken tikka masala with ghost peppers for extra spice! Love it

I love this place. I get take-out here at least once a week. The owners are super nice, and the food is consistently amazing. My go-to meal is the chicken curry, ordered very hot, and the spinach naan. I find the prices to be very reasonable considering the amount of food I get with one order lasts me 2 full meals.

The food is to die for. The garlic naan is for garlic lovers only. Super friendly staff. They always make a point of allowing a taste of something new without a charge. Large menu with an option for everyone and an easy section for vegetarians.
