We have been to Coffeetree several times. When we started going, it was pretty good. The past few times the service and food has been poor. The prices on food have seem to gone up a lot, and now its quite expensive, very small portions, and not anything outstanding. It is $10 for a flimsy sandwich not even an 1" thick and a very small side item. I would think itd be an okay lunch for $6. Just a side item alone is nearly $3 and is about 3 bites of food. I got a the salad for a side and the lettuce was half wilted. This last visit I felt really bad that my family member spent $30 on food for 3 of us and it was barely anything. They forgot to put the tomato on her BLT, and when I asked for the slices, they brought 2 slices about 2" wide. Another family member ordered a drink, and the server, Megan, was very rude (I guess she wanted to leave) and threw her purse down on the counter since she had to take his order. Another time, another family member came in and the lady didnt wait on her, instead began counting the money in the tip jar. Another time I ordered a flavored soda and the lady made it with mineral water which made it taste awful. Not everyone and not overtime, but in general the servers havent been the most friendly, but enough to make me not want to come in, especially now with the food is so overpriced and pitiful. A shame to represent downtown Frankfort.

Great food, top-notch coffee, sandwiches, paninis and wraps. Fresh local and organic ingredients make all the difference. Friendly baristas that remember your name. Lines are not usually too long, and theres both table seating and comfortable chairs, tables and couches, along with outdoor seating which is usually in the shade. Free wifi is available. Instruments hang on the wall in case you want to pick a tune. On the table is the usual assortment of coffeeshop board games and chess pieces. Books line the walls, overflow from Poor Richards Books next door. But what really sets this place apart is the wide variety of music that comes through. Small space means intimate performance settings. Sound system is exceptional, as is the sound man. Every Sunday afternoon theres music from 1-3, and many times theres concerts on Friday and Saturday nights. Max seating is about 60. Everyone from John Cowen to the California Guitar Trio to the Dixie Bee-Liners to Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle have taken the stage. The sound is always great and the performers are top-notch. Musicians are always begging to come play here. Whether for the coffee, food or the music - if you havent been to the Kentucky Coffeetree youre missing out!

This is a unique individual proprietorship. The location is perfect so at times it gets very busy but often it is very peaceful. The live music that they have brought in from all around the country is incredible. You have to reserve your table because it if a small venue. The owners have invested in some great sound equipment and run the sound free of charge. They treat the performers well so they always want to come back. The audience gets a chance to have an up close personable performance like no other place around here. For a small cafe the food is very good as well.Frankfort is lucky to have such a place!

Great place with wonderful food and strong coffee just as we like it. We used it as a base during our visit to Frankfort. The staff was very kind and helpful with our twin 9 month olds. They even made me more salad dressing when they had run out of the soy ginger dressing. They could bottle it and sell it easily. So good and worth the wait. Obviously fresh ingredients and made on the premises. You have to try the Old Angry Liberal hot sauce. We bought a bottle to bring home and great with the bean and corn panini.

Stopped by one night for a few minutes while we waited for friends to get finished touring the Old Capitol right across the street. It was nice to see this small coffee shop open while many other businesses had closed long before we even got into downtown Frankfort. If coffee is not your thing, they also had cans of West 6th (a local Lexington brewery) IPA and Amber Ale available for those of legal drinking age.

Best around. Have not found a better espresso. Starschmucks is horrid anyway, but Coffeetree is amazing. Employees are top notch. Never had an order wrong. Their mocha is superior. Ive also asked for special requests, like sprinkle of cocoa powder in bottom of espresso during very busy times, and after Id ordered and paid. Was not a problem. Excellent sandwiches and desserts are insanely nummy.

The espresso drinks here are excellent. The Americano is my standard. They also serve adult beverages, and that makes it a good location for a weekend brunch and mimosa. The staff are also very high quality and take pride in their work. If youre downtown, plan to have a meal or take a break here.

I would give this place 3 stars if it were a cafe based on the setting and the food. But when you have the word coffee in your name and your cappuccino tastes like coffee flavored milk you get one star. Quite possibly the nastiest cappuccino I have ever tasted. Absentee ownership at its finest.

Fantastic dirty chai latte and certainly the best anywhere between Lexington, Louisville, or southern Indiana! Only gave it 4 stars because there was a terrible wait and surely the staff couldve been a bit more friendly. Ill still go again and hopefully can change this to 5 stars.

Almost waited for 30 minutes at cracker barrel but decided to try this place instead. What a great place to eat and drink coffee and listen to live folk music. The bagel sandwich, chicken salad sandwich and cranberry muffin were excellent. You will not be disappointed!

The ingredients are as local as you can get and the coffee is good, but the prices are expensive and service is pretty slow. If I had the choice Id pick Starbucks because I know I could get through line more quickly and my mocha would be about $2 cheaper.

LOVE this place! Its one of the locals favorite places to meet. They not only serve the usual coffee, but beer and wine as well. Open jam sessions and live music by local and regional artists often fill the air both inside and outside of this venue.

Wonderful Americano. My go to drink is the standard by which I judge all coffeeshops. If they can make acceptable Americano they can easily do a Latte or any of the more desserty type coffee beverages. Beans were correctly roasted and not burnt.

Wonderful, food was great, service was great! It was the only thing open on Sunday evening but it was a wonderful experience! Plan on going back to the area for our 35th anniversary and will definitely be visiting Kentucky Coffeetree Café again!

Great coffee, cozy atmosphere, and nice taste in music. This is the best place for coffee in Frankfort, KY. Their Dirty Chai Tea Latte will blow Starbucks out of the water. I would also recommend a Frankfort Fog with a shot of espresso!

Good coffee, delicious breakfast - we had the eggbaby burritos and they were outstanding! The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, but with all the acoustic baffling on the walls I definitely want to come back for live music.
