I use to go to this restaurant when I was a kid. I barely ever get to the Richmond area so I was super excited to take my step son here for the first time. When we walked in it took about 5 minutes for anybody to acknowledge that we were even in the building. After asking us if we wanted a table or booth (we chose booth) the waitress huffed and said she would have to clean it first. She didnt have a notepad when she took our order, she wrote it on a paper place mat. After taking our order, before she took it to the kitchen, she stopped to run the register for a couple of customers. Then she sat down and re-wrote our order on an actual guest check. 43 minutes later we got our food. Mind you it was all breakfast food that we ordered and the hardest thing was my omelet, which was greasy and had no flavor at all. My step son ordered; eggs, bacon and a biscuit and the biscuit was the only thing that wasnt greasy for him. My finance had biscuits and gravy and his biscuits were hard. We heard a couple other people in the back complaining about their order. I even heard two different guys ask for them to fix the catfish they ordered. (twice) The staff was unprofessional, wearing baggy t-shirts and holes in their clothes. After looking around it was obvious that the restaurant hadnt had a good cleaning in a couple weeks at least. We will not be back. I would even rate this one star.

I have been visiting the Sunshine Cafe for many moons and feel it has actually improved over the years. I find the service to be friendly and quick and my order is always done right. Sure, the decor looks a little dated, but its clean. They also have free Wi-Fi. Food wise, my favorites are the BLT, chicken tenders, tenderloin (its huge!), their new Mac and cheese bites (2 different kinds: Gouda and pepper jack), their new chicken bites with the honey garlic sauce (the sauce is PHENOMENAL, but it DOES have a kick), and last but CERTAINLY not least is their chicken salad. It is literally the BEST chicken salad around! You cant go wrong with any breakfast you order, but please note that they dont make their own biscuits so they are usually dry and flavorless and a bit hard. Also, their white gravy does NOT have sausage in it, but its good! Also, they dont add a lot of salt to their food, so if you are a salt lover, you will definitely have to add more. Just remember that this place serves typical "diner" food and is not give dining and you will be pleased! They also serve all their food any time of day! Place was clean, Service was great. Good place if looking for ordinary breakfast fare. But if you are looking for upscale where you need to ask questions to know what you are getting, Richmond may not be the city to be in.

Have a meat lovers omelet with 4 strips of bacon no potatoes or bread. Great low carb breakfast or at least I believe so! Service is very good I would recommend this place.
