Charm, Grace and Ooh la la Have you ever had a moment when you wanted to escape from the craziness around you? Well, this past week I did. Although I couldn’t take a quick flight out to one of my favorite cities, Paris, I came close. I dined at Café Provence. This first-time experience will not be my last. Reservations are recommended. With a seating capacity around fifty along with wonderful meals and service, it’s understandable. Fashion photographs of models during the fifties and sixties adorn the upper walls of the dark wood, linen dressed tables of this restaurant. My first course started with Soupe á l’Oignon. A thick layer of gruyere hides the contents below in a little brown crock until your spoon breaks through. The steam rises and you are greeted with thick slices of onion, bread and the wonderful beef broth below. Next, the main course, Poulet Aux Morilles and Ratatouille. The first is a pan-seared Amish chicken breast with morel brandy cream sauce, tournée potato, carrot, haricot vert. To say that the meat was tender is an understatement with a taste that was unbelievable when coupled with the sauce. Even the green beans were visually pleasing; bright in color, and crisp due to a blanching process and the use of butter. The main course was a true delight. If you are familiar with the movie, Ratatouille, will understand why I had to try the dish by the same name. I closed my eyes just as the character did as I tasted the savory, rich stewed summer vegetables prepared with tomatoes and herbs. Oh, my goodness! What a pleasing and light side dish. My third course, Tarte Tatin; an apple tart served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. It was a perfect way to bring the meal full circle. Overall: I want to thank my server Jonathan G, for his kind and wonderful service, making this one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. Café Provence is a charming bit of France right here in Prairie Village, Kansas.

This is the first review that I have ever written for any business. But tonight warranted a kudos to Cafe Provence. We are from Lees Summit and loved Hannahs on Chipman Road. They closed many years ago and we have missed them dearly. I was craving their fabulous food all week and decided to see if they still had their restaurant on State Line. They did not. But we found the owners newer restaurant in Prairie Village. We were a little reluctant at first to make the trek to Prairie Village during a huge snow storm tonight on the first day of Spring. We were pleasantly surprised to find a such a quaint and warm eatery. The owner was gracious and friendly to us and made sure that we felt at home. The meal exceeded our expectations. All four of us had the fillet minion. It reminded us of the old Hannahs with a new twist. Absolutely fabulous! This combined with the outstanding Tomate Farcie au Boursin, a great wine and excellent dessert made my birthday dinner the best ever! We will continue to visit Cafe Provence for our birthday traditions.

Took a friend to Cafe Provence (recommended by another friend) for her birthday. WOW, what a treat. The Blue Cheese Stuffed Dates wrapped in Bacon....out of this world. We both had salmon, which was perfect, however I dont think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. Great place, my compliments to the chef & staff. It wasnt just lunch, it was an experience. Do yourself a favor and try it.

Quaint with tons of charm. Indoor or outdoor seating. Cafe Provence is a wonderful mix of a few different worlds of design - a French-Country feel with some beautiful artwork, as well as some rustic pieces. The food was delicious. Youll find some things you dont see everyday like escargot and veal - they are definitely worth a try.

My husband and I dined here last week, and it was fantastic! The food was superb, and the wine, of course was outstanding. I was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian Shepards Pie, which had a nice mixture of vegetables and lentils. The French Country decor is warm, inviting and lovely. We will visit again soon.

This was our first visit to Cafe Provence and it wont be the last. We have a new favorite restaurant in Kansas City! It was the perfect evening; the atmosphere, the food quality, the wine and the service was incredible. One of the best parts was sharing the evening with our closest friends, Steve and Donna !

One of the three ore four best restaurants in Kansas City and easily the best place for quality French cuisine. It is a bit of a splurge, but worth every penny. Excellent, knowledgeable staff and the intimate ambiance make for a memorable meal each time. The chef specials tend to be sublime.

Wonderful food and service in a cozy, unpretentious setting. Authentic French flavor. Great wine list. Try the Coquille St. Jacques appetizer--its not to be missed. Definitely make a reservation for a weekend night, its a small restaurant with limited seating.

This is our favorite restaurant in all of the Kansas City area. This is a lovely, quaint French bistro. We have been all over the world and prefer this establishment over many of the more flashy and expensive places in town. BON APETITE!

It would be difficult to name a higher quality restaurant in Kansas City. Youre going to pay for it, though.
