I had never been to Cafe Azur but wanted a French restaurant with a good atmosphere for my birthday dinner. We booked a large party reservation on a leap of faith. This place completely exceeded our expectations. The GM was extremely hospitable and flexible in helping us coordinate our party down to every last detail. The upstairs was reserved for us and all set up by the time we arrived and the service was excellent. The food was divine, Ive had lobster ravioli in Paris and Cafe Azurs lobster ravioli was just as delicious. I was shocked! The chef brought me a gorgeous dessert with my name written in chocolate and the GM even gave me a handwritten birthday card. I would highly recommend this place, as they had the best service Ive had in Houston but also really made the extra effort to make my birthday special. The food and drinks were also excellent. This is a fabulous restaurant and Id highly recommend it for a special event.

The old Max & Julies was taken over by Azur. The atmosphere is nice, but if the weather is good,... ask for a patio table. We had dinner outside on the patio, and it was very romantic. Service was 5 stars, our waiter was prompt and very helpful. The food was really good to my surprise. We had muscles and steak tartare for an appetizer, they were both fantastic. We also ordered some chickpeas fries, it was recommended by our waiter. Wowwwwww!! It was my favorite dish,... Amazing!! Dinner was duck and fresh vegetables,... it was seasoned well and at the perfect temperature! I would definitely recommend this place! Thank you.

I attended a food blogger happy hour event at Cafe Azur to experience a tasting of happy hour fare. The signature cocktails are refreshing and pair well with the shareable plates. The Lemoncello was my favorite, lemoncello, vodka and champagne. If you like Lavender in your cocktails, Cafe Azul has a wonderful happy just for you! For bites, try the duck confit bruschetta or the sea bream tartare. The foise gras & duck confit taco was amazing! Chef Sidney Degaine made this especially for @houstonfoodbloggercollective bloggers. Hopefully, he will keep this on the happy hour menu! #montroseriviera

Cafe Azur is wonderful! Their French food is not only excellent but creative, refined and exciting, served in a bright, well-designed and relaxed setting - a mixture of traditional French café and contemporary chic with echoes of Nice and the French Riviera, where the French owner and chef comes from. The service is so attentive down to the last detail. It is a true family-run establishment with the French owner as chef and his charming Brazilian wife Maria ensuring the warm welcome and complete satisfaction of every guest. I highly recommend it!

A very welcome replacement to Brasserie Max and Julie, the new owners have imported the wonderful feeling and culture from the Cote dAzur to create a light and airy but very "foody" atmosphere. The four of us tried the special menu for Mothers Day and relished the well considered flavors and combinations. The "perfect egg" starter was a big hit. Service was friendly and attentive. The chefs wife is the restaurant manager and was keen to hear about our experience. "Bon Chance" to Cafe Azur.

Good, but not great... First off, the service and staff were beyond perfect. The environment is also very nice, but when it comes to being a "French restaurant" they miss the mark. The most basic of the French dishes are Americanized amalgamations. For instance, escargo should never be fried. Julia Childs is rolling over in her grave. And the steak tartare had some kind of sauce infused that took away from the simple flavor of normal steak tartare.

I had an awful experience tonight. We waited 2 hours before they came and told us they had lost our entree orders (after it had taken a very long time for our wine and appetizers to come out). If I hadnt been with another couple, I wouldve said to forget it and gotten the check. After that my entrée had a hair in it. I figured Cafe Azur would definitely comp some of the meal, but I was sorely disappointed.

I had a wonderful experience at Cafe Azur! While there, we celebrated a friends going away party and they were very accommodating in every way possible. The atmosphere is so classic and very "brunch" like. The food was cooked to perfection. I had the American Classico breakfast and I highly recommend it. Overall, this restaurant deserves over 5 stars! I will absolutely be back.

The food was very tasty and well presented. We went on Mothers Day so the menu was limited. The tab was pretty high for this special day. The only gripe was they charged for the plain French Bread for the table. We will try some other day, but right now I am not ready to go back any time too soon even though I gave them a 4 star.

Excellent in all dimensions. The perfect egg is amazing in flavour, aroma, palate and consistency. The linguine really truffled (see pics) and top with another perfectly paired egg. The duck, medium rare, is juicy, tasty, along with a crispy balance of skin. Will come back again... and again. Friendly service too.

The food was amazing. The perfect egg is incomparable. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable (we had to ask a lot of questions because of unfamiliarity). And we dont drink but the wine was very much enjoyed by the rest of the company. Somewhat expensive but thats to be expected with such high quality food.

This place is great for brunch. There cocktail menu is amazing. I would highly recommend there Lemon drop martini. The salmon salad is very good. The salmon tastes fresh and the veggies super crisp. The service is very good, and the decor is nice.

Could not recommend this lovely cafe enough. We visited for my brothers birthday and had an EXCELLENT experience. We indulged in dessert, cocktails, and a very reasonably priced bottle of wine...divine!! Loved the ambience and friendly service.

I was impressed not only by the food but the staff that made us feel very welcome and valued (even without mentioning that it happened to be my birthday!) I recommend trying "The Perfect Egg" and the nitrogen ice cream made table side.
