When we got there they didnt have seating for our family of 5. They told us 15-20 min which was fine but then asked if wed be okay sitting over at the Newport grill side, which we were because we were starving and when you have a 6,4, and 2 year old youll sit anywhere. Our server, Allison, was great she was quick and responsive. We ordered our food, Im gluten free so I ordered the GF waffle. When our food got to our table everything looked great except my waffle looked like a normal waffle, yes I have an eye for GF food. I told Allison and she wanted to double check too. She had put it in as GF but they did indeed cook a regular waffle. The manager Tim came out and grabbed it and said he would have one out soon. It took about 5-10 min for a new set of GF waffles but they were sooooo good! It was worth the wait. The kids ate all of their food..which never happens and Tim comped my meal since it was wrong and everyone was overly apologetic. Would have gladly paid for it! It was great! Thanks for the great service and food. We WILL be back!

My family and I went to the diner once right when it opened, and it had very slow service. We didnt want to make a final judgment about the restaurant based on their opening week, since things might have changed since then. However, when we went again this morning, we were disappointed to find the service just as slow as before. We called ahead to ask how long it would take to get a table, and were able to put our name in. When we arrived, we waited at the host desk for 15 minutes before sitting down. No one was manning the front desk, so I believe they must have been very understaffed. We sat down and ordered some coffee and drinks. The coffee took 8 minutes to arrive at the table, and the other drinks took an additional 5. My drink was delicious, a peach mimosa. My sisters eggs on the benedict she ordered were quite overcooked. However my fathers fried eggs were cooked fine, so maybe it was just a rare oversight. Still, we probably wont be back to this restaurant. Lots of superior breakfast places in town.

When you first walk in youre greeted with an "aloha" and a smile. The staff was friendly and willing to answer questions about the menu. The menu is relatively small but thats a good thing as they make those items well! We started off with some happy hour apps (fried and raw oysters). The oysters were fresh and had the usual sauces; The fried oysters had a nice breading. I went with the fresh mahi Cajun style. It can with a side of slaw and either rice or regular fries (upcharge for truffle fries). The mahi was cooked perfectly and had an excellent Cajun kick to it! The slaw was fresh and flavorful. My partner in crime went with the Ahi Poke bowl. She said it was delicious and was full of tuna, veggies and rice. Very colorful and flavorful!

I think I intended to go to the Newport Grill but ended up here. Friendly service, but menu appeared very "heavy" and overpriced. Busy wall decor was a bit nauseating, and somehow out of sync with the 80s music playing. If this is a "concept" restaurant the concept was lost on me. Ordered black and bleu burger - "burger of the month" - two patties on a brioche bun stacked higher with bacon and veggies than one could possibly eat without compressing it, which yielded a pond of grease on my plate. Fries were likewise saturated in grease, and were hardening as fast as my arteries. So much for a light lunch. At $15.00+, not worth it.

Just had our first and last visit to the Paia (formerly Paradise Diner) for breakfast and I must say it is a very odd setup. You basically pay the same price for no service what-so-ever. You order your food at the counter (VERY few breakfast selections) and then find your own seat. You even have to get your own water and utensils and paper napkins! I guess we just always loved Paradise Diner because it was our little paradise that we enjoyed every weekend. WE will miss Paradise Diner and wish Paia great success. One suggestion for them is more fish options.

Really, really bad customer service. Our server was clearly just not in the mood to be working. He even said he was about to graduate and quitting next week - totally unprofessional. The artisinal nachos were bad - $8.00 for 8 chips, and they were not worth the money at all. Our food took about 50 minutes from ordering to being brought out to us on a night when the restaurant wasnt even full of customers. Wouldnt recommend. I wont be going back.

My wife and I have had two business breakfast meetings there and we were very happy with the food, the service and the environment. Our server was a lovely woman in her 50s and very polite. The rest rooms were clean and we was very pleased overall. Thats why were going there to meet clients again this morning. I am sure I am not the only one who appreciates the effort the owners have put into this place.

Do not let the negative reviews deter you. I have a group of ladies I brunch with on the regular and this is by far our favorite spot. The food is delicious, the service is wonderful and they serve the absolute BEST mimosas of any establishment around. They are my FAV, hands down!

Service was great, but $29 for brunch is too much. Food over rated for brunch. Bread pudding burned, no vanilla sauce, small cakes tray smoothed together, Brussels sprouts crispy... Crispy??? Ive had better.
