My husband & I have been eating at Blue Koi for many years, dining in & take out, we regularly ate at the 39th street location before the one on Mission opened. We are now regulars at the Mission road location; food is amazing at both but we find parking, wait-time & service are more satisfactory at the Mission road location. We recently dined in on March 31st for my husbands birthday and our experiance was no exception to the norm. Our server, I believe her name was Jo, was fabulous (we have NEVER had bad service at either Blue Koi), she was just fabulous. I am a restauant manager and I am pretty picky about service. My husband has a vegan diet, and I am a pescatarian, so eating out in Kansas City can be difficult; we always find the staff at Blue Koi knowledgable & helpful when it comes to our special diet needs. The food is always incredible, and I find the hardest part of eating here is narrowing down what Im going to eat---EVERYTHING is so good. So I just want to say thank you, and keep up the good work!!

My wife has some specific food allergies therefore we normally avoid Asian restaurants. She made an exception for my birthday and we went to Blue Koi for dinner. Despite the place being crazy busy, the manager Scott happily sat down with my wife, got to know what she likes and what she cant eat. He then talked to the head chef and they made a dish that turned out to be fantastic. He even offered to name the dish after her so she can order again when we return in the future. The amazing part of the experience was how genuinely enthusiastic he was to accommodate my wifes needs and ensure we both had a great meal. Per his suggestion I had the chili pepper wontons with a side of rice which was amazing. The sesame balls perfectly capped off an excellent meal. The owner Mrs. Chang stopped by to ensure everything was to our liking. Despite it being a busy Friday night, the Blue Koi crew went the extra mile for us and we will definitely be back.

Its very hard for me to write a review for this place. The problem with this place is I believe it has taken the American Chinese food concept too far, to a point where I dont know what I am eating. I ordered a summer cold noodle, and a tofu mushroom noodle. Both are well cooked and tasted ok, but it is really hard to say that this is Chinese food or even American Chinese food. You dont get the "taste of home" feeling from authentic Chinese food, nor the regular American Chinese food feeling neither. Thats why I am giving it a 3 star. I will not be coming back but I would say give it a shot maybe you will like it.

Whenever we visit the KC Metro, we MUST come to Blue Koi. My elementary aged children eat up the Crispy Tofu with Awesome Sauce and the Roasted Duck Noodle Soup. Portions are large enough for sharing AND left overs. We have a special relationship with the owner, Jane, who has given us so much care and good food over the years. If you ever go and the Spicy Buns are on special (a rare occurance), order it. You wont be disappointed.

Im not a tofu guy, but I love trying new things. The Crispy Tofu with Awesome sauce WAS awesome. Pork dumplings were great (also dunked them in the awesome sauce) and the Fire Bird Roast Duck with Noodles (while not as spicy as it could/should have been) did not disappoint. Service was fast and the owner/manager checked in on my meal and I saw him do the same at other tables.

I really enjoyed this place. It can have a very long line to get into during a dinner rush, but i promise the dumplings are worth it!! I have only had one bad dish there, but i am a picky eater and it just wasnt my taste! I always come back for the dumplings and their cream cheese wontons (i think thats them!) SO GOOD!! A little pricey though, so come prepared!

Best Chinese food in Kansas City. A little pricey but they make up for it with huge portion sizes. Wonderful environment with a noise level high enough to drown out the overbearing self conscious thoughts racing through your head on your first date yet quiet enough to hear your date say they dont want to meet you again. Just kidding, really great restaurant.

I absolutely love this place. Try their Tofu with the awesome sauce and their dumplings. Both me and the kids are huge fans of the Wonton soup. Although they are not traditional Chinese or even American Chinese their slightly different take on Chinese cuisine is a delicious and flavorful surprise.

Love Blue Koi, have been there many times over the years. Service is always excellent the staff are always friendly and smile and the food is amazing not your traditional type of Asian Cuisine. Be sure to try the bubble teas which are amazing and you can also add alcohol to these drinks.

Recommended by the front desk of the Marriott, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. Staff was friendly, dumplings and noodles were delicious, and decor was comfortable. Reminds me of a Vegas restaurant, and I will definitely return if in overland park again.

I got the pan fried dumplings (kind of like pot stickers) and that was all I ate from this restaurant. I was sick all evening. The service was nothing special and Im pretty sure my waiter was high. Not impressed, but maybe something else would be better.

We go here often. The service is superb, the food always exceeds expectations, and the outdoor seating is nice when available. The only criticism? Id love more veggies in their main dish stir-fry items. Try the eggplant pockets if you like garlic!

Delicious northern Chinese food! The staff is always attentive, and the owner often meanders through the restaurant, greeting customers and keeping and eye out for great service. The pan-fried dumplings are AMAZING!

I thought I really liked this place when I went to the one on 39th St. But tonight I got food to go in Leawood and it was not the same. Also they charge $1.50 for a half full ramekin of awesome sauce. Overrated.

Fusion Chinese Restaurant. I love the one in Leawood rather than the one on 39th. Very spacious and clean. Staffs were really nice every time. They actually have some hidden menus! Ask about them!

Great food. Not as cool as the one on 39th but still a good choice if you find yourself in the area and are looking to pick a place to eat. Probably your best bet in the part of town.

The food here was average. The service was good, but it felt rather crowded as the tables are close together. We ordered 5 different items and didnt love either of them.
