I got takeout on the way from work to a potluck dinner I decided to attend at the last minute. A couple orders of shrimp fired rice seemed like a good choice, and King Buffet was on the way. Good. ... Choice I regret. This was some of the worst shrimp fried rice I ever had. The shrimp were small, few, had not been cleaned (hate to eat those black "veins"), and their oil or pan was slightly burnt. ... The odor that wafted from the paper bag holding my two cartons was not so much savory goodness, as burnt peanuts. I assume peanut oil in a badly overheated wok. ... Fortunately the rice itself did not have a noticeable burnt taste, but it was overall bland and stale tasting. Instead of savory shrimp aromas, there was more of a fishy smell. As I put out the platter, someone asked, "Oh, is there a fish dish?" ... The shrimp fired rice at the local HyVee markets is much better and cheaper. Shrimp are larger, cleaned, more abundant, and taste good. Also no smell of burnt peanuts. ... I will never get fired rice there again, and likely I will avoid going to the buffet.

I found the restaurant to be pleasant and clean. There was plenty of food and was presented well. It was at least what I would expect from any buffet-style Chinese / Asian restaurant. There was a little more to offer as far as choices over what I have recently had elsewhere. Service was great and the servers were very attentive. The only down sides were: 1. Parking lot was not cleared properly of snow and ice. A lot of slush, mud and not knowing exactly where to step without slipping and falling. That isnt the Restaurants fault, it is the Property Management company. 2. They used small bowls with wide rims instead of large cups for their soups. It is harder to hold and take back with your plate full of food. 3. They didnt combine all the soups in one area. hard to get a feel for what was offered until you walk through the entire buffet. Someone mentioned small, poorly made Fried Shrimp. I saw no evidence of that. I would have complained if that were the case. Take-Out can be hard on a busy night. I would suggest to that Commenter to try it again, or eat in.

Wow, best Chinese buffet Ive been to EVER, Im actually going there when it opens around 11:30 lol. Guess where I live? 24th and Ousdahl, like one minute walking distance from it :P Food is always top notch, good variety and great price! Ive tried and tried other places in Lawrence but I just always go back to Kin Buffet, there isnt a better place. Peking is UGLY inside and outside and its location is like in a back alleyway next to a bar. Theres another one east of 23rd right as youre about to exit lawrence for KC. I went there around 3-4 PM and the food was OOOOOLLLLLLD. King Buffet is #1

Well, it doesnt take long to get a seat, the servers are always friendly, yet from that point onward, you dont want to eat the food! First, the food is frozen, and the taste of frozen food is there, not fresh food. Most food will be re heated either from the previous week or day depending on the time of day that they start serving the leftover food. I do understand that this is a fast food style buffet, but authentic Chinese restaurant this is not, an highly recommend other places in town which do care about the food they serve, because here this food is not quality food

Food was okay, nothing special, but receipt total was $11 too much. $31 compared to $20 is a pretty big difference. Ive had receipts wrong at other restaurants, but Im confident this was on purpose. Also, service was not good, plates werent cleaned off our table and drinks werent refilled. This was my 2nd time visiting and sadly my last time. No issues the first time, but the food wasnt great either. I wasnt likely to return even without the receipt issue. Just the food would get 3 stars, service 1 star.

This place is very good if you dont expect anything fancy or exotic. The variety is great and there is fresh food coming out all the time. Just be aware that this is "Americanized" Chinese food, Im yet to find any traditional dishes or flavors closer to true Chinese cuisine. But to be honest, a buffet with this amount variety for $8, is a very good deal. They even have a hibachi station! Anyways, I have no complains about the place and I like the fact that I can eat as much as I want :)

By far the worst food and service Ive had at a local buffet. The food was tough and chewy (probably not fresh) and we just couldnt eat it. My girlfriend picked up some pineapple and also commented that the flavor was off. The waiter was walking around picking up plates and never came to our table to refill drinks until he brought the check. It was a complete waste of $22. Next time were just going to make the trip across town for some decent food.

This place is aweful!!! There arent enough words to describe it. Uncooked rice. Cold food. Hard shrimp. Mushy sushi. I tried everything and just kept spitting things out on the plate. My wife and i told them we were unsatified. We didnt really actually eat anything and they chased us out of the restaurant telling us it wasnt legal for us to leave. We ended up paying 6.52 which was a 30% discount they said. Will never ever eat here again.

Had a appetite today & stopped at this location little did I know that the waiter was having allergies and couldnt keep his hand off of his nose needless to say I imeadiatly decided he wasnt getting tipped Other than that my buddy works the hibatchi so my food was pretty delightful aside from the livid atmosphere & runny noses it was quite enjoyable 3 stars

The food is good and cleaner than a lot of chinese restaurants but I dont think I will ever go back again. It really irritates me when chinese restaurants think they can do food prep in the dining area. At 1pm on a very busy Saturday they had several bean prep areas scattered around the dining area. I wonder what the health inspector would say.

The food is great. But the waiters seem to have an attitude and rude everytime me and my family go to eat. They need to work on that. People should feel comfortable and welcomed. Show Hospitality. If you dont feel like dealing with attitudes. Well go somewhere more worth your money.

Really good food. This isnt traditional Chinese food but its what we have come to expect from most buffets. Definitely one of the better buffets Ive been to and I come back frequently. Staff is average but friendly. Hibachi station is also amazing.

They had peel and eat shrimp that had no seasoning. They had tempora fried shrimp that the shrimp was so hard I could not bite it. We got there at 11 a.m. they had just opened and everything was cold that was on the warming tables.

10 years ago was the last time we were here, before we moved to Chicago. We returned 3 months ago and the is by far the best Chinese buffet we have been to since we have been back! Worth the drive from Junction City!
